Best way to wrap fudge for soldiers

I am planning on making and sending fudge to some soldiers that I know are in Afghanistan.  What would you suggest would be the best way to wrap them?  I thought of baggies, but I don't want them to mold.  Would tin foil keep them moist, and would they absorb the metallic taste?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't know that I would send fudge...as the ride in the plane would be warm...and how about the temps in Afgananistan????

have you sent it in the past??? and if so how did it take the trip????

if I was sending it...I would buy those Glad plastic containers with the lid...they are light weight and air tight...

     Shelley,

I haven't sent fudge before, but I have sent chocolate candy.  The planes go at a high altitude, so it get very cold up there.

The weather is getting colder there now.  During the winter is it very cold, with snow.  I know that the soldiers ask for coffe, hot chocolate and hand warmers.

I haven't used the Glad containers before.  Do the Glad conatiners come in a small size? I want to send each soldier about 5 pieces of fudge, and space in these oversees boxes is precious.

    Thanks for your answer

good to know this works...I was just thinking about the heat...and living here in AZ...we know heat...Paradise

yes Glad does carry smaller containers, round ones with screw type lids....like 1 cup size or 2 cups.....

I am sure whatever you send they will enjoy!!!!!  peanut brittle might be good too...

I don't know about fudge, but I used to send cookies to DS and anyone around him.  I sent way more than I needed.  They would see that he had gotten a pkg from home and flock around him.

What I did with the cookies was to freeze the baked ones and while still frozen seal them with my Foodsaver then box them up  ship them that same day.  He always said they were in great shape and very good.  The guys really like the effort we might put in to this.  So, send away everyone.

I was also going to suggest that you freeze the fudge then use your seal-a-meal and suck all the air out. You should be able to put 5-6 pieces in one bag. I did that for my son with red vines when he was in Iraq. And you can get quite a bit of stuff in those flat rate boxes that are free from your post office. Also for packing material I use air-popped popcorn. No waste since they eat that too!

Thanks for your suggestions everyone!   Since I don't have a food sealer, I guess I could do it the old fashioned way, with a straw.   That's the way we did it when I was a kid.  LOL
