    Re: 11/04/09 Cookin' Seniors Chat

    Hi all,

Happy Birthday Cilla, Hope it’s a great one.  Today is my Sis’s birthday too.  My only Sister,

Wow so far a busy day for me.  DH feeling better.

    .

I drove him to Dr on m Monday and I declare he is a terrible back seat driver...

Oh Lord have mercy on me for what I was thinking...Bad Sandy.

DH had bought a new John Deere this summer and had wanted to sell his other one

I had told him he should get it all pulled together just in case but didn’t and now A guy wants it today.

So there I am in garage trying to find the extra blades and stuff.   I have no idea what I’m looking for.  Grr.

Muttering to myself.  Wondering if he really knows how lucky he is   (YEP)   that I’m such a calm collected nice person.

Oh boy if you all believe that I have lots of swamp land you all want to buy in Louisiana?

No election here in our county but since we get both Detroit and Toledo stations , well they both had big elections stuff going on.

Try to fill you all in on other stuff later.

    Happiest of birthday wishes Cilla

Nancy Z~ Nope, not a flake in sight today. I like it that way.

DH was helping friends move their furniture into their new log home and they had to wait awhile because of rain but that didn't even last long.
I just got back from there as I took lunch in so they wouldn't have to deal with feeding the "help". 'grin'

(((SANDY and MABEL))) Just thinking about you in a special way.

LEISA~~There are a few places near us that raise elk....Want me to get the trailer?

JP~~I hope that foot continues to heal properly and not give you more grief. Cannot imagine being on your feet at work with that pain. Hugs!

PAT~~Let me know if your up for a road trip to CO. next spring.

HELEN~~How is the new computer and keyboard treating you?

ROSIE~~Hoping, with all my heart, that you have a better day with no aggrevations or worries. YOU are loved!

BRENDA~~ How often do you have to take your DH back for check-ups?
You bring a smile to my face! I HATE going in those contraptions and like Nancy Z , have an exaggerated fear of being INSIDE. They drug me to get me in, seriously.

I have to get my chicken going for supper so I'll give a group wave and check in later.

    Tippy
Punchinello laughed, "Me, special? Why? I can't walk fast. I can't jump, My paint is peeling, Why do I matter to you?"

Eli...spoke very slowly, "Because you're mine, That's why you matter to me."

Good evening all.  Birthday wishes going out for those that I have missed, sure  hope you had good day.

Been working on the website and crocheting.   While printing out a couple of cards I see that I need ink.  Do any of you buy it online and from what company.  I did some time ago and now can't find any record of it.

My fire place really throws out the heat, now just have to rearrange the living room so that my chair is closer to it.  Not sure just what I'm going to move it.   I know that I'm going to enjoy it this winter.   Had the little guy from downstairs with me for an hour this afternoon and while reading him yet another train book I hit the remote for it.  His eyes really lit up and then he tried to find the long matches that he was sure that I had  hidden.  Not going to tell him anything different since he's very cautious about fire and I want to keep it that way.

    Take care all.  Pat

A friend of mine from another chat line found this recipe for me and I think its like that one she  wanted . I guess you could not put the chocolate on top. I took it off the copy I made for her

    Sandy

    Coconut Top Hats

A multi-layered cookie with a sugar cookie base, a sweet coconut topping, chocolate frosting, and a cherry.Makes about 48

    For the base:
1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
    1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
    1 egg yolk
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1-1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
    1/4 teaspoon salt

    For the coconut topping:
2 cups finely shredded coconut (sweetened or unsweetened)
    1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
    1 egg white
    1 tablespoon water
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla

    For the chocolate topping:
    1 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels

    Garnish:
24 Maraschino or candied cherries, red and/or green, halved

    For the dough:
In a mixing bowl beat together butter and sugar until creamy. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla. Blend in flour and salt. Shape dough into a 10" long log, wrap in plastic wrap and chill until firm, at least 2 hours. Meanwhile, prepare coconut topping.

    For the topping:
Combine coconut, sugar, unbeaten egg white, water and vanilla; chill.

Pre-heat oven to 375 F. Grease a baking sheet or line with parchment paper. Cut chilled cookie dough into 1/8" slices and place on prepared baking sheet. Top cookies with 1 teaspoon of the coconut topping and spread almost to the edges of the cookies. Bake about 10 minutes or until edges are golden. Cool cookies on wire racks.

Wanted to stop in and say good night.

Beverly - If you are like me they could look in one ear and see light on the other side. lol

Penny - Do you ever slow down? Seems you are always baking or washing. I guess I'm just not that smart.

Nancy Z. - I like all of them to. Do you watch the new one? Its okay not as good but watchable. Now I love the CSI's also.

Sandy - Do men ever do things the way they should? Did you Want to put him out? I threaten to do that sometimes. We are bad.

Tippy- Sure lunch was appreciated and so was the help. How often Hubby goes to the Dr. depends if there are any problems. Usually once a month, His hemoglobin has been low and something with his kidney output. So we have been every 2 wks. for a while. All is improving, always glad to hear that. We just go from day to day.

Merle - Will have you in our thoughts and prayers. I'm sure your surgery will go fine.

Pat - Im sure you will enjoy the fireplalce.

    Good night to all,

    Brenda
