Good morning, chilly and 30s here.  Sun warmed up all our hot water yesterday and the house is up in temp, sun again today but then rain/clouds tomorrow.  Not going to the office today, the census is low and they dont' need me so I get to stay home.  My wireless is working again, something needed to be reset by the cable people and they did it via phone and found it all out due to my work computer not working.

Not sure if supper will be soup or sweet potato sausage casserole.  Made some cream cheese brownies yesterday.   Will post the recipe later.   Very good and very rich.

Margie, hope you get out later.  Take it easy today.

Deb, glad all is ok with your mom, great report.

    Tracie, how is Justin?

Lisa, what kind of bread did you bake and what kind of scones?  I just made a ginger/pumpkin scone which was really good.

Denise, that was nice of SS to put a load of clothes in the washer.  How are the newly weds doing?

LauraC, my you were up early to get the housework done before taking dd to school.   Guess your body is used to getting up early.

Florry, a belated happy anniversary to you.  I'm still catching up from being offline for 5 days.

Kim glad you are feeling better.   Have you heard if DH is coming home for Christmas still?  How does DD like her new school now that she has been there a bit.

Shirley, good to see you.   Have missed you.  How are things going?

Sherry, will you do any of the small minor prophets in the "little book" studies?  Is your pool shut for the season now or will you have one or two more swims left?

     Kathleen, how are you feeling?

Shelia, not sure if you'll see this but you are in my thots and prayers

Patti, sorry your knee has been acting up.  Hope you can look into the synvisc and that maybe they would help.

Well, need to get moving.   Be back later.

    Good morning :)

34º with some scattered showers/flurries, high to get in the low to mid 40's. Have a little laundry, some dishes and want to sweep before the little ones get here; if today's like yesterday, I won't get much of anything else accomplished. Hoping the baby gets used to being around me, or it will be a very long next 3 days as she cried a lot yesterday; not used to being away from mommy & daddy.

Margie, hope you take it easy today & get out for that walk! (((hugs)))

Deb, glad your mom got a good report & doesn't have to go back! :) Keeping Cinnamon in my prayers.

Jill, glad the solar & your internet are all working! Nice you can stay home today! :) I made the parmesan herb bread that I posted for Sherry and some cranberry orange scones; had one for breakfast! The ginger pumpkin scones sound good too; have you posted the recipe before?

Sending prayers for all that need them, hope you all have a good day!

    hugs, Lisa

    Happy Wednesday!

It is 6:15am and we have 35º.

This morning, my mom and sis Char and I are heading to the Amish.  I need to get the spices for my potpourri.  Will probably be the last trip up there till next spring, so, will stock up on some of the other things I like to get there.   My mom just enjoys the ride, seeing the Amish people and is hoping to see some fall colors.

So, probably won't accomplish much around the house today.  I'll do my usual Wed. chore of bedding tomorrow.  Not gonna fuss with that today.

Supper is going to be a new recipe, it's a gournd venison casserole I found online.  Making fresh broccoli to go with.  Last night I tried Brown Sugar Chicken, served it over brown rice, that was good and also made Sherry's Red Cabbage - we loved it!  Thank you Sherry!!!

Great recipes so far on the Christmas post.  I'll add some when I get some time.

    {{{{{{Sheila}}}}}}}

    Hugs to all......

    Good Morning June friends!!

I woke when I heard DD leave for work, so got out of bed, Wednesday, my weigh in day. I lost 3 pounds, I'm so excited!! I had slowed down the last while, gained a bit, lost, stayed the same... Have lost a total of 38 pounds now, feel so much better and love buying smaller clothes!!

Had a good day yesterday, cleaned the basement, worked on laundry, went through the fridge and threw out a bunch of stuff, cut the new squares for my rag quilt and sewed the squares together, just have to sew the rows together and I am done! Last night went to watch DD's soccer game (she scored twice!), was different to watch soccer instead of volleyball. Tonight she has her last regular volleyball game. I'll miss it, although glad to get back to a somewhat more regular life.

This morning I'm going for breakfast with other school moms, then need to do a bit of shopping.

Have a great day GFs! I need my coffee... later.

    Good Morning June Friends!!

I feel better this morning, just like yesterday. Late yesterday afternoon, though, I was so incredibly stuffed up. Sure wish this would clear out. I had a busy day yesterday and have another busy one today. Today I need to iron a few items that I use between now and Thanksgiving. Then I need to tackle kids rooms. I also need to sweep the sidewalk out front, sweep the entry way and kitchen and vacuum my entry rug and front porch rug. I sure with the leaves would just all drop off at once. I also need to get to the laundry room counter. I didn't get in there yesterday. Supper tonight is hot dogs. Another simple supper at this house. Just trying to get the kitchen all tidy and keep it that way.

Margie, chicken stir fry sounds so yummy.

Deb, how wonderful your mom's doctor gave her a good report. Glad Cinnamon at for you a little bit.

Jill, glad they got your internet working. How nicer that your heating is working. Enjoy your new home.

Lisa, sounds like the perfect weather for some baking.

Patti, enjoy your trip and the time you get to spend with your mom and sister.

Tracie, give Justin a get better hug for me. Bronchitis is so horrible for anybody, but I always hurt from the coughing when I was a kid.

Laura, way to go with the weight loss. Hope your breakfast was fun.

Guess I better get going. It is breeakfast time for the dog and she has been reminding me of that fact periodically. Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone!!

    Good morning.

I never got a chance to get on the computer yesterday.  Every time I had a few minutes one of the kids would be at the computer.  Oldest dd has a half day today due to end of the quarter.  When she gets home we plan to head up to the nursing home to see my dad.  She starts her clinicals at the nursing home tomorrow evening.

It's a bit chilly this morning, had to start up a fire in the stove to take the chill out.  Suppose to be nice later this week, up to 60 degrees on the weekend.  I was gonna head to the grocery store for my big shopping this morning, but chose to wait another day.  President Obama will be talking to a middle school in Madison and some roads will be closed and traffic re-routed.  A number of years ago I happened to be in the city when one of the guys running for president came and I ended up having to take a looong way home do to the re-routing.

I only have a small load of laundry to do today, got all of it done on Monday, but dd needs her scrubs washed so will be taking care of that.

Dh starts his seasonal job at American Girl this evening.  It sure has changed since Mrs. Pleasant owned the company.  Matel is just out for the money.  Anyhoos, I'll have to have his supper ready at 4:20.  It's back to serving two suppers each evening for a few weeks.

Well, I had better get busy.  Waving hello to all.  Enjoy your day.  Becky

Good Morning ladies. hope everyone is doing well this Wednesday morning. it's a cool start to the day, but it's sunny and beautiful, real "fallish". I have laundry in the machine that I'll hang on the line. This morning i also want to give my g/f a call, haven't talked in a couple of weeks. DIL is getting ready to go to the hairdresser. She goes to the same place as me, but sees a different stylist. Tonight dh has a dentist appt, so i'll go to, thn we'll go grocery shopping. The list isn't too big, so it shouldn't take us long. Supper will be an easy one, pastrami sandwiches.

Magie, Enjoy your day today. How nice you live close enought to some stores so you coulsd walk.

Deb, glad your Mom got a good dr's report.

Jill, Thanks for asking about the newlyweds. They're doing great, married one month already! They're really looking forward to thier "wedding reception" which will be Nov 14. On Nov 19th they go to Florida for 12 days. So, life is exciting for them these days! The brownies your making sound so good.

Lisa, Hope the baby gets adjusted to being with you soon. I always feel so bad when babies are strange and all they want is their parents. Makes for a long day, especially if your babysitting.

Patti, Enjoy your time out today with your Mom and sister.

Tracie, Hope Justin feels better. It's a good thing you brought him to the doctors. How much school will he miss?

Laura, Congrats on the weight loss. Sounds like you have a busy day today.

Thats it for now. Time to get some things done around here. Hope everyone has a great day!

    HUGS!
    Denise

Tracie, sorry ((Justin)) has bronchitis, so miserable; glad you got him into the dr. & hope he's better soon! Have not seen that movie, will look for it.

Laura, big congrats on your continued weight loss, doing awesome! Enjoy breakfast out!

Jill, thank you for the recipes, they both sound great!

Kim, glad you're feeling better; hope you continue to improve. Please don't overdo on the chores tho!

Becky, good luck to DD; how long will clinicals last? Nice DH still has his seasonal job; how have things changed?

Denise, wow - doesn't seem like it's been a month already; bet they're looking forward to their trip! Enjoy your day. :)

Need to check the dryer, see you all later!

If you like cranberry & orange, these are terrific!  I don't usually glaze them, although it makes them extra good!

    Cranberry Orange Scones
    from The Barefoot Contessa

2 c. flour (I use half whole wheat)
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 T. baking powder
    1 t. Kosher salt (I use about 1/4 t.)
    1 T. orange zest
1-1/2 sticks cold butter, cut in chunks (I use 1 stick)
    2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. cold cream (I use ff evap. milk)
    1/2 c. dried cranberries (I use a little more)
    eggwash (don't use)
    sugar (use sanding sugar)
    Glaze:
    2 t. orange juice
    1/4 c. powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 400º. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt & zest in the food processor. Add butter and pulse until crumbly. Combine eggs & cream, mix into flour mixture just until blended. Gather mixture into a ball, then roll or pat out into a circle 3/4" thick and cut into rounds or wedges. Brush with eggwash, sprinkle with sugar, then bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown. Remove to rack, drizzle with orange glaze.
