Good morning Vammie and everyone who'll be on soon...

I got to spend some quality time with Kenny yesterday since he had a horrible sore throat and hardly any voice or energy.  So, got some much needed phone calls made to the doctor that I've been putting off (medicine refills for me) and got him an appointment too.  Last time he was at the doctor was just for a school physical when we moved here and ended up with Strep!  He didn't tell anyone his throat hurt so when he was complaining I knew to call.  Well, he ended up with nothing but a sore throat since the tests came back negative but I am a cough away from H1N1!  I hadn't been paying attention to how I've been feeling since I was more worried about him but the nurse looked at my throat since his was really red and said mine was red too.  The doctor and I talked and I have every symptom but the cough which I can feel in my lungs but am holding it back.  She went ahead and prescribed me some Tamiflu and I'll go get that filled this morning with my other meds.  Kenny went to school today but I had a note for them to call me if he feels worse.  Again, sore throat and no energy for him, but no fever either.  He's giving school a try!

Be back later...off to get the meds and try to take a nap in the quiet house....

Good Morning Verna and Lynn, Verna, thanks for getting us started, you have a full day today and I hope you find lots of "goodies" at the quilters sale. This is the week our community has "Big Thursday" lots of "goodies" and good food to eat, Different churches, etc makes things all year for this and a lot of things are given for the big auction which is early evening. Lynn, sorry you and Kenny are sick, I hope he doesn't get the cough, the HINI is really bad in our area. Sounds like you got lots accomplished yesterday. It's so good to see you posting regularly again. I hope Viny's absence is just that and not someone sick. Was Pat going back to the doctor this e week? Viny, check in so we'll know you are ok. Where's JoAnn? maybe it's time for that dreaded phone call. I hope she is ok but she's usually here early and has missed a couple days. I feel my age, yesterday, I replanted all the bulbs that I took up early in the summer, I had put them in containers and you wouldn't believe the root system they had, I was all afternoon getting them back in the ground. I would not have taken them up, but we had some that a daffodil cross breeder had given us and I didn't want to lose them. I also put another row of Iris when I have my garden. They are easy to grow, just hard to keep the grass out of it. I've never had grass problems before so that will be a challenge for me. Ok, today, I'll put more shelf paper down, move a few more boxes and get them unpacked, this is a never ending job for me. We decided to postpone the mtn trip until later in the week. until later.......

Good morning everyone.  Just feeling a little under the weather, after a test I had done yesterday,  and am taking the day off to rest.  Hope to be feeling better soon.

Will read all of yesterday's and this morning posts when I check back on.

Take care and God bless. Jo Ann

PS, Viny, I just have a question for you, if you don't mind.  The leaf blower you mentioned on the BB, is it gas, and is it a shoulder harness or a back pack type harness?  DH said he is more in favorf of a blower than a bagger, but wants to find a good one.  Thanks for your input.  I'll pass it along to DH.

    Good morning.

Just a quick stop since Rosie and I both have appts. to get "Coiffed".  This could turn out to be a Hair Raising Experience.  Surprise

Verna and Marti, I'd love to go get the goodies you are all talking about.  Sounds like so much fun.  Our Bazaars will be starting soon....which reminds me, when will we be drawing names ?

Lynn, so sorry you and the Capt.  are sick but glad you got right to the DR.  Too many people wait and then get really sick.

I must run now but will be back later for sure.

Hi. Sorry to hear that Lynn, Kenny and Jo Ann are not feeling well. Get better soon! And Barb, I wonder if you and Rosie are going to the same hairdresser??? :-) I delivered DH to the airport today. He drove me crazy today. Talk about unorganized!!! He was still writing reports and e-mails an hour before he needed to leave. And I was allotted 5 minutes to cut his hair and trim his beard. So I told him he gets what he pays for. He got a 10 minute job anyway, and it looks horrible. It will look even worse after a month of no grooming. He does clip his beard a bit, but not much. I hate it when he gets shaggy. He says it is distinguished. Anyway, since he gave me so little time to do my job, I really sheared him!!! I talked with DS in Iowa last night. He sounds quite upbeat these days. It may have to do with one certain girl named Molly. I just got back from teaching my adult conversation class. It is a challenge to get Finns talking, but this group is fine once they get going. I just give them a topic and some key questions, and off they go. Usually by the end of the session, they have switched topics completely. I put them in small groups and wander around the room. At the end, we discuss a few grammatical or vocabulary mistakes I have noticed. Grey's Anatomy is returning to TV here tonight. So that's where I will be between 9 and 10 pm. Have a good day. lusi

    Re: Healthy Choices, 11-4-09

Good morning... Sorry I have been mia the last few days. For some reason, I have not had time to check in from work lately.

Lynn, sorry that you and Kenny have been sick. I hope that you are able to get over it quickly. We sure enjoy having back in the fold.

Verna, how is your dd doing? Did she end up spending the night at your house last night?

Marti, I have been meaning to ask you how you like the new house? Is it everything you were hoping it would be? I know you are busy; but, when you have time, we sure would love to see some pictures.

Shirley, I’m sorry that you have been feeling a little depressed. You might want to talk to your dr. to see about getting something to take for it. It seems to be helping dm. You know that we are here for you so if you feel like venting in an email, we will be happy to listen.

Barb, I hope you and Rosie, both, enjoy your day at the beauty parlor. Hopefully, you won’t come home looking the same. lol

Viny, are you back at work this week? Or, are you staying home with dw? If I send my material down, can you make new curtains for me, too?

Sue, I have not checked out the site you gave us for the museum; but, there are not a lot of people that can say that they once lived in a museum! Enjoy your day out with your friends.

Maureen, I hope your dh is feeling better today. Did he go to the dr. yesterday? Did you put pink frosting on the birthday cupcakes for kim?

lusi, how long will Leo be gone this time? Glad to hear the ds is doing better this year.

I am going to a baby shower this weekend for my new grandson. I am looking forward to that.

    Until later...

    Jo Lynn

Hi Jo Lynn.  Leo will be gone for at least a month this time.  On the way to the airport he mentioned that he will be finalizing arrangements for the new office in southern Sudan.  When they have a permanent place, then his trips will be even longer.   Great.  One kid in the USA, one kid in the army and one husband in Sudan. And me here in this big old house all by myself.  Something is wrong with this picture!

Shirley, I hope you are feeling better today!  lusi

    Re: Healthy Choices, 11-4-09

I won't be here in the morning because I am going to the chiropractor and then the City to shop !  Yippee.

Remember when I told you the chiro had told me about the seminar he attended where they said stretching didn't help elderly and may even cause them problems ?  Well, there was a big article in the paper this morning titled "Stretching Debate continues".  After reading it, it boils down to some people believe you need to do it, others don't.  And all of them are confused about the benefits for the elderly.  But....they all agree that you should warm up before you do any exercise.

Lusi, I feel bad for you being alone.  Talk about Empty Nest Syndrome !!  Surprise

Jolynn, I was just thinking about you being a Grandmother again.  I know you will be excited about this little one.  When is she due ?

I must get off here now.   You all have a nice evening.
