    Re: Canadain Corner 11/05/09

I like oatmeal.  Mine is nice and creamy smooth.  Sometimes I chunk up apples, throw a bit of cinnamon and brown sugar in for cooking it, allmost like eating apple crisp for breakfast!  But my favorite is baked oatmeal, yummy yummy.  My mom always made my dad oatmeal for breakfast, but us kids got a bowl of cheerios, my dad was long gone to work before we woke up, and the oatmeal was either gone, or hard cold.  If we asked, my mom would make us oatmeal.  I also like Cream of Wheat, I always envisioned myself a baby, LOL.  Havent had that in years and years.  I also like Red River, mmmmm.  Okay, you ladies are making me hungry.

Oh yea, my kids are all back in school today.

So DH gets an awefully sore arm when doing somthing repedative, which he did Sat night, producing avery sore/weak arm.  He could barly lift an item, such as a bowl of food to pass.  So I recommended he go and see a local lady in town, a friend of my parents.  He got in with her last night.  She started on his feet.  First thing, she tells him "you have weak ankles"  Yes, he does.  She asked if he ever fell/jumped off somthing about 8 feet high.  Yes, he indeed did 3 1/2 years ago when building our house.  His hips are out by almost two inches, hence the back pain that he gets so easily.  then she told him "your right arm....." (sorry, I forget what is wrong)  And yup, it is the right arm that is bothering him, the reason why he went to her.  Then she told him "your shoulder muscles are really tight"  Ahhhh, YUP!!  Then she said "you don't drink much water, do you?"  Ah, not enough during the winter months for sure!  All this just by working on his feet.  She doesn't know him, she didn't even know what he did for a job (building homes, a very physical job)

He almost came home depressed!  He told me I should just take him out behind the barn and shoot him, he's falling apart!  But needless to say, he is going back to her next week again.  She worked his entire body after his foot therapy.  She told him he might be really sore today, and even nauseated.  I forgot to ask this morning.  And today he is doing a Huge concrete floor, so probably a 12 hour physical labour day.

he was just so impressed how dead accurate she was with everything.  but also scary, apparently he has weak knees (that comes with the job) and she was very amazed he doesn't deal with headaches.

It just amazed me how she could detect everything by touching the feet.

    Aleida:

    noudder:
we would get it for dessert

Well Noudder -- that's when we had it too.  I didn't say so -- didn't want to gross anyone out -- instead I said "not a breakfast food".  My mom called it  -- am going to spell it like it sounds -- drolikiss pap -- and it was yuckky -- we could have it warm or cold.  And like you said, it could threaten to come back up.  I used to make a deal with my sister,  "You eat this for me and I will do the dishes for you."  I was always doing dishes -- haha

I'm laughing now, Aleida. I've never heard that term, but it's likely the same stuff we had. We couldn't add sugar to it, either. And if we didn't finish it it would be waiting for us the next day. Ever wonder why I never made it for my husband or my kids? I remember once, hiding a weiner under hip, so that I could sneak a bite between spoonfuls of the stuff.

Over lunch Dh and I were discussing what Aleida might have meant with her oatmeal. He thought of "havermout brie", which was a runnier version of oatmeal. That may have been what we both had as children. Yuck! Let's hope we will never have it so tough again that we will be happy to get that same "dessert" for any meal.

I will be going to see a reflexologist soon as well. I want another opinion about my foot challenges. This is just going on too long. Char, I hope your DH gets things back in sync with regular visits.

LOL -- called my dad and asked him how to spell it -- he laughed and said there really was no such word and .....  He did say that pap and brie were probably words for the same thing but different dialect.  Yup Noudder -- bet we suffered through the same "dessert"   He has fond memories of the stuff.  LOL

Well, it's official!  No school tomorrow.  Too many sick kids.  Too many getting behind.  Tomorrow is the end of the first quarter, and they all had test and stuff to do, and too many would not get to.  so Monday kids that missed too much will be invited to a day of catch-up, but otherwise school will not resume till next week Thursday after Remebrance Day.  It was already planned that they would take two days off (monday, tuesday) for the missed two Pro D days this year, making it an extra long weekend for everyone.  now it's just an extra extra long weekend!

My mom is filling in for the janitor.  She gets to go in and disinfect the ENTIRE school.  She was already saying there was too much work, she couldn't keep up, and now this!

I remember pap, I love oatmeal could eat it everyday.

My day went well at work and André did fine without me.

Char, Dan can't be falling apart all ready ...can he? He works hard building homes and cement work.  He will feel it when he gets older.   LOL
