Ron and I are going to a medicare seminar this morning.  He needs to get a cheaper plan for his drug coverage and supplement to medicare.  So if we can switch plans, we better start looking now.

Doris, I bet you are exciting getting a new computer...We got our dell at Walmart and like it alot.  I bought myself a Shark sweeper last summer, thinking I could use it for quick clean ups....Well, I use that darn sweeper all the time and don't drag out my heavy sweaper...This sweeper, the Shark, has saved my knees big time and back... I LOVE IT.  They are only about $60 and worth every penny of it...It gets under things and cleans and it just the handiest little sweeper ever!!!!!!!!!  I know I will never be without a Shark....LOL

Wishing you ALL a GREAT Friday.

    Hugs,

Good morning all.  Mary thanks for the coffee. As per usual it's great and hits the spot.

I'm just dropping in real quick..as it's another real crazy and busy weekend here.  Last night we had the dinner rehearsal for the wedding party.  I help and made a triple batch of spaghetti sauce.  We all had a great time and my DGS's are great and funny.  I was up way too late and am droggy this morning. I also ate too much and my BS is up this morning.  well will be good today as tomorrow is another feast on food at the wedding. I will pace myself.

Picking up DD and DGD at the airport  this morning.  They are arriving for the wedding. Can't wait to see them. After I pick them up were heading for DD#1 for lunch.  I think we'll be having leftovers for lunch, then going to have our nails done. A little shopping and then I have to get to bed early tonight.

Well everyone have a great weekend and enjoy this weather.

OK, I came here looking for it-----and yes, there it was!

    TGIF!

MARY, always good to review alternates to the health plans. We are lucky to have a good one. I will have to check out that Shark. I still have an unright Hoover-----you know, the one I dance with every week.

LORRAINE, busy, busy, busy. Take care, but enjoy the family and fun.

DORIS, congrats on the new computer. I'm sure you will like new and faster "computerizing".

Going to check out a craft fair, today. And, then maybe a Chinese lunch with Russell.

Hauke – The bedroom sounds so nice.  It will look so pretty once everything is in and up.

Mary – I thought of Matt and the girls when I heard about the shootings at Fort Hood.  How sad.  I'm glad you got the drapes up yesterday and it looks nice. I hope Ron is able to sign up for the Medicare plan he wants.

Doris – I'm glad you and DH got the N1H1 shot.  Good luck with the new computer.  I hope you get a good deal on one.

Lorraine – Have a great time with your family and enjoy the wedding.  What a fun weekend you will have.  Congratulations to your DGS and his new wife.

    TGIF in a BIG way!
It is cloudy here this morning.

Nancy, enjoy that craft fair!! I am hoping to get down to my friends shop this weekend for her open house...I want to get something to mail my SS now.  I have held off mailing a package, hoping to get somethings at Donnells for her that is handmade.

Lorraine, enjoy the wedding and all the festivities  that is planned....I love spaghetti too and it is one of the things I find that is hard for me to just have a small portion.  I am sure you will enjoy the time with your family and GK's.  Enjoy the food as we all need a treat every once in awhile...

Joyce, Matt and the girls are doing fine.  Matt left the base yesterday at 1:15 PM and the shootings started at 1:30 Pm...he was so lucky that he and Mattie were not on base at that time.  Matt said the doctor, who did the shooting, was originally from Walter Reed hospital, but got into alot of trouble there and they send him and few other "problem people" to Ft. Hood.   The doctor posted things on the internet about suicide (sp) bombing, etc...and was opposed to the war...and wrote about it on the Internet.  Matt lives about a quarter of a mile from the one gate at Ft. Hood...so he was close by anyway.   Amber was in school and worried that Matt and Mattie were on base, because she knew Matt had planned to give blood that day, but decided against it because Mattie was acting up.. (Mattie has been really wild here of late, LOL)  I for one, am glad, that they didn't kill the shooter, as I would like to know WHY someone did or could do something so awful...

Hauke, you and Rebecca should hire yourselves out as Interior Decorators!! Gosh, you do such a good job and you both are so talented.

Doris, everyone says the caregivers should have the shots....I think that is why I got the regular flu shot because I was afraid of getting sick and giving the germs to Mom and Ron. I am anxious for you to get your new computer...that is awesome.. I sure love mine.

Well, better get ready for the seminar....I am that desperate to get out of the house that I agreed to sit at a seminar...LOL

    Hugs,

    Mary

Guess what girls?????   My car is still not fixed!!!!!     I went over and waited for it and they came out and said they had put it on 2 computers and deleated the lights on the dash and it was okay.    I left and went to lunch and W M ---I got about 5 miles out of town and the lights came on again so stopped and called them they said to bring it back so turned around and went back.

They gave me a guy and he took me and a computer and we went for a ride he found that it was a rear wheel that was causing the AWD to go out so I have to take it back next week, I told the guy that the next trip would make it 600 miles (geeze I could have gone on a good trip with those miles) so hope they could figure it out and also my warranty will be up Nov 27.   He told me that he would do the work and when he worked on something it would be done right,   Hope so!!!

I did take a long time in W M as I had coupons and it always takes more time for that, I got turkeys for 40 cents a pound, didn't intend to buy a whole one but at that price did get it.

It rained all the way home so first thing I did when I got home was to dig out a big tarp and put over the furniture on the deck.

I told you that I wouldn't have t v until my carpet is down well Walt pulled the wires from the L R to the B R so I have t v.  YEAH!!!

My legs and back are really hurting so will have to use my cane today, if I am still having trouble I will have the Dr order an exray for my knee next week.

MARY, I wish there were meeting here that i could go to for medicare advice, I have the books but need a clear mind to sit down and study them

, We have AARP now and they have been great and Humana for prescriptios and they are okay but will have to check their rates , I may go to AARP for prescriptions  also.

I also have a Shark sweeper and love it everyone should have one.

HAUKE,your home and decoratiog sounds lovely, now that I have my passport I may just have to come visit and check it out.  LOl

I need to get busy can't do much with the house all torn up but can always find something to do in the sewing room,    Later,   Marge

Marge, I am sorry to hear that your car is still not fixed!!  I bet you are not too happy about that either....That is a great price for turkey...40 cents a pound.... I would buy turkey more often if Mom and Ron liked it...Turkey sure make for some good meals and leftovers.  I am sorry to hear that your knee is hurting...I sure know what that feels like.   You are right, everyone of us needs a Shark sweeper.

We went to the UPMC seminar and got alot of useful information...We were paying way too much money monthly and last year, it was too late for us to change insurance providers, so we were stuck with it. Later in the afternoon, I asked Mom and Ron if they wanted to take a ride to Donnell's shop... I need things for the Christmas Swap and for my SS for November and the big reveal.  I found some really nice things and now Mom thinks she should have the things I bought for presents...I asked her before and after I shopped if there was anything she wanted...no, she didn't need anything...LOL   I know she misses going shopping and that I should make more of an effort to take her to Walmart shopping... The doctor told her not to worry too much about Walmart, that there were alot of sick people going in and out of there and she didn't need to catch a bug...lol

Hope ALL  is well with the rest of you!!

    Hugs,

Mary, that doctor is right about your Mom staying away from the germ mongers, in stores and stuff, lol.  I carry wipes in a baggie in my purse and dh and I wipe our hands often while we were out, today especially because we were in several places.   But my Mother also misses going shopping and just looking around at stuff, pricing things, even things she can't use in her assisted living place.   Is that Shark a vacuum with a bag or do you just "empty" a container on it??  Is it a kind of "Dirt Devil" product??

We bought an e-machine, but Wal Mart didn't have the one we wanted, they would have to order it, and we would have had to make another trip down, so we checked Costco, they only had one type that was over $600, so wound up at Best Buy.  Got an e-machine, no monitor, but I don't need one of those.  This one was $329 plus tax.   Our son will install it next Saturday, Lord willing and the creeks don't rise that it.   My other old one was over 12 years old, and it was an e-machine too, I liked it alot.

Marge, that is pitiful how they can't fix that darned car!!  One of the pittfalls of living out in the boonies though!!   It's like us up here, have to travel to get to anything for good shopping or repairs, etc.  Medical stuff too, except for simple things.

I'm glad you got to go to that Seminar, it sure seems that the insurance agencies try to boggle our minds with too many facts and figures, and sound like "flim flam" deals to me.

Lorraine, have fun at the wedding and enjoy the festivities, they only happen once.   You can eat better again forever after they are done with!!  Truly!!

Nancy, how was the Asian food?

Joyce, when is the next meeting of your friends that had the surgery?  Are there many new people in the group?  More women than men?   I'm curious how many men have the surgery compared to women.

hauke, I too think hauke and Rebecca could make money doing that designing and fixing things up in a house.

Let's have a good weekend folks.  Don't forget to get some exercise in, we have early morning English soccer games on tv tomorrow at 7 AM, so will be on the bike often.   Need to keep that up, whether I love it or not.   I got my "DTour" Cookbook today, full of recipes that are good for diabetics.  I think it will be the last cookbook that I will need in my life though.   Can't use the other ones anymore, really, they are not "safe", so to speak.   And too tempting!!

    Doris
