    Canadian Corner 11/06/09

    Good Morning Friends,

A cool morning, and warming up this afternoon.

André wants to have a shower now and he wants me to be there in case he needs help. He had a bad night, not feeling up to it.   We all have our bad/good days.

What is the price in your area? I noticed that it certainly fluctuates in different towns/cities.  Yesterday I filled up at 92.6 in Chatham and in my town 96.5. I read that we are really going to pay high prices this winter, what else is new.

Char, I hope that Dan will get enough work to carry your family through the winter.

    Have a great day everyone,

    YF

HEY   I was not finished, this site is being silly again today.

Hope Andre will feel better after his shower. There will be a few days when he will not feel good but it gets lots better as the days go by. Did they take veins out of his leg to use? Earl still says to this day that his leg hurt worse than his chest did and his was 5 years ago.

We are supposed to have a very nice day today and the next weeks forcast it for pretty nice weather. Very windy tho but I guess we can't have everything,

My sore throat developed into a nasty chest cold and sinus infection. I am trying to get rid of it myself without  meds so we will see what the next few days bring.

Our son in law in northern Alb is pretty sure he has the swine flu. Has all the symptoms and has been sick for almost a week. Grandson has also been home sick since Tues but not as sick as his Dad.

I plan to make up a bunch of potatoes into fries and hash browns today for the freezer. They are so handy to have.

Hope everyone has a good day and looking forward to the weekend.Almost one week in Nov gone!!!!        DD

Good morning Maria and Dolores -- quick typing there Dolores to get in second.

No work today Maria.  You can relax with André.  And for sure he can have a few short naps to catch that sleep he missed last night.

Dolores, sorry to hear you are dealing with a cold.  Yuck!!  Hope it doesn't hang around for long.  And hoping your DSIL and family also get better soon

David is home today -- why we slept in for a bit -- I turned the alarm off last night.  We only have to make a trip into town for a few errands and other than that we can do whatever we want.  The good life for today for both of us

Have a great day Maria, Dolores, Pat -- read you at the end of yesterday's thread, and all who follow

Good Morning! It's already 8*C here...very nice for a November day. Yesterday it got to 17 in Edmonton but we only had 4.

Had a challenging night with my feet and I couldn't get warm enough to fall asleep till after 3:30. Had 2 pairs of socks and long johns as well as a fleece jacket under a comforter. And I was on the couch with a fire going in the wood stove. Otherwise I feel just fine. Strange, huh?

Still chuckling about the "drol", Aleida.Stick out tongue . Oh my!

Yes, YF, you should relax at home with your dear husband, especially if he asks you to. At least he is wise enough to ask for support if he feels he needs it. Sending get well vibes and prayers for a good recovery, and a big hug for you.

Oh no, Dolores! Hope you feel better quickly! Do you take Cold FX? I'm pausing now to take mine before I forget because I need to be good for my shifts.

    *********

There, done deal. Have a long shift later today and will take an extra blanket along in case I'm chilled like last night. There won't be a roaring fire where I'm at.

I will head back to my recliner to elevate my feet till lunchtime and hopefully have a snooze before lunch. I will turn the phone off soas not to be awakened if I'm blessed enough to sleep.

    Have a great day, Ladies!

Well, have the fries all cooked and are on trays in the freezer. When they are frozen I will bag them. Saved a big cookie sheet out for the rug rats for supper.   Now I have the hast browns cooking .

It is really warm here but very windy. Dh is out trying to button up our shack for the winter. He always puts insulation in as many places as he can.  We live in a very OLD mobile so there always seems to be cold air coming from somewhere in the winter. We try and do our best to seal up any places that let the cold in.

Hope you can catch a few winks, JP.   Sounds like you will have a relaxing day Aleida.  Is your DH done hunting or does he go again. I love moose and elk meat.  Not deer tho, I think we ate far too much of it in our younger days and not I do not even like the taste of it. But moose sausage YUMMMMMMMMMMM.

    Back to the kitchen!!    DD

    Good morning.  Sunny here today.

YF, yup, we just have to trust God for work.  After a few good days, I bet it would be easy for André to feel discouraged by a not so good day.  But it's been a short time since such a major surgery, so tell him to not be discourage.  Not too many years ago, he would still be in the hospital in bed.

Dolores, your smart making your own french fries.  My kids prefer homemade french fries, and I sometimes indulge them.  I find it funny they prefer them, as the boughten stuff are much more crunchy and all.  But probably coated in chemicals too!  Hope you can fight this cold off without those horrible drugs.

Aleida, hmmmm, what are you going to do today?  How far away is town?

Nouder, I hope you can get some much needed rest.  Last thing you need is to come down with this nasty cold/flu that is going around (apparently more are getting the cold then the flu, but they are just calling it all the flu.  Technicallities!)

Dolores, ah, the joy of sealing up for the winter months.  We don't do that anymore.  Actually, we had a pretty nice mobile and only plastic on the kids windows.  But I know many people who do what you do, anything to save on heating cost, and keeping the pipes from freezing.  We had frozen pipes a few times, not fun!

Well, tonight we have a birhtday party, bringing appetizers, yummy!  Kids will be at Gramma's house tonight.  Maybe I should just bring their bed stuff and let them stay overnight so that we can be out late, date night.  But Dan is feeling this cold that is going around.  Because he is considered an Asthmatic he is at greater risk, and he is really feeling pain in his chest.  Then being outside in the harsh wind all day yesterday I'm sure didn't help one bit.  He came back frozen from the inside.  He is working tomorrow at the school.  He can't afford to be sick, and that's that!!

Yes, I did catch a few winks. I'm still in jammies. DH came and went for lunch and took my car through the carwash a minute. That way we won't get dirty if we brush against it. What a guy! So now I need to prepare for my shift.

I'd like to insulate, too, Dolores, but if we cut out all those drafts, then I'm afraid we may have to work harder to keep the wood stove going because it isn't vented to the outside except through the chimney. If there's not enough "pull" in the sky, then I have to open up windows. I'm not too keen on doing that when it's really cold out. Once it's going really well, we can usually keep it warm in here.

You have the right thoughts, Char, about God's provisions. He will provide when we trust in and live in Him.

Okay, off to shower and dress, pack my overnight bag, grab an extra blanket and "vamoose" out of here.

Pretty quiet on here today!!    I have just decided that one morning I am going to wake up and declare that I do not have ONE single thing to do on that day!!!!!  Maybe 10 years from now, but it will happen.    LOL

Sure was windy today but I am sure that more combining got done. They may get done yet if the weather stays nice.

Tomorrow is a huge craft sale in the neighbouring town, if I feel better I may go for awhile. They always have so many nice things.

    Good night everyone!!     DD

I am very tired -- had something to drink with supper -- and then I am ready to sleep -- sheesh!!

I made a new soup for lunch -- zucchini bisque -- very good.  I also made bread pudding for David -- although I have no childhood memories of it -- my mom never made it -- it just doesn't appeal to me.  And I did a new chicken/rice casserole for supper.  No wonder I'm tired -- I did too much today.  LOL

Anyways I going to read for a bit -- good book but taking way too long to finish.  Tomorrow I hope to hit a few bazaars and we're going out for supper.

    Be good everyone

We're baaaccckkk.  Stuffed to the gills with the seafood buffet we enjoyed for supper on the road.  It was a terrific day in Wpg.  All errands went tickey-boo.  We may have even gained 2 new customers.  We found where DS2 is working and took him for lunch.   It was a good day.  The highway was slippery in sections-- we saw an accident on the railway track and evidence of 2 drivers going into the ditchearly this morning.  That just reminds us that slow and steady wins the race.

No final decision on the new vehicle, but we are both leaning towards the same one so that's good.  Hopefully I'll have new wheels before the year end.

Off to catch up on emails.  There have been two more part-time job offers today.  I really need to practice NOT RIGHT NOW.

Have a great night and an even better weekend.        Pat
