    Old rec-Woolworth's Cheesecake

my Mom used to make this all of the time. She would use orange jello instead of the lemon for a change every so often.

    Woolworth's Cheesecake
    1 (3 ounce) package lemon Jell-O
    1 cup boiling water
    8 ounces cream cheese
    1 cup granulated sugar
    5 tablespoons lemon juice
1 can Carnation milk, well chilled
    Graham crackers, crushed
Dissolve Jell-O in boiling water. Cool until slightly thickened.
Beat cream cheese, sugar and lemon juice with mixer until smooth.
Add thickened Jell-O and beat well.
In a separate bowl, beat the Carnation milk until fluffy. Add
cream cheese/Jell-O mixture and beat well with mixer. Line bottom
of 9 x 13-pan with crushed Graham crackers.

Spread filling over and top with more crushed Graham crackers.
    Chill.

My Mom always told me the Carnation milk whips better if you put the bowl and beaters in the freezer for a little while before whipping.

    Enjoy

    RE: Old rec-Woolworth's Cheesecake

Hi, thanks for bringing back memories of Woodworths. When I first started working, I would always take my younger brother to Woolworths on Saturday to get him lunch. Everything always tasted so good there and he really thought I was the best sister in the world, there is 14 years difference in our ages but we now say we are twins....I was the oldest...but lie about my age....Woolworth's was our time alone together and it gave Mom and Dad a chance to be alone too.. now I know what that means.....Shirley

What memories. I used to love to go to Woolworths and eat at the counter with my Mother. That was a real outing. Thanks for the recipe.
