Hello. I’m LindaChicken and today we are going to learn to save and post pictures and images! It's so easy you'll wonder why you waited so long LOL

 

Here we go. First we need to find a place to host our pictures, we are going to use photo bucket. It's free (they do ask for donations and I think that is only fair for such a great service.) Click on this link to get there Photo Bucket . You should see *sign up* in the upper right hand corner. Now you should see this….

Where it is underlined in red is where you put your nickname, underneath you put your password and confirm the password agree to their terms. Photo bucket will e-mail you to let you know your account is active. Now go back to photo bucket and log in……

Okay, I have given you the above graphic for you to save and use as you would like.

Before we go on we need to find a place to save your siggy.

I want you to right click on this sig; you will see a window open that looks like this, we want the save picture as…..

Click on save as ~ it will ask you where you want to save it (pick a place you will remember).

 You should now see this window,  see the red circle? This is your drop down window. You want to be in my pictures now, if you are in my documents just use the drop down window and look until you find my pictures. Okay, now we are in *my pictures* we need a place to put your sig.

Great, now you have this window open (MY PICTURES). We need to do something here; you see the envelope with the red circle around it? That is a "new folder" click on that and at the bottom you are going to be able to name that folder. We want to put ANNIVERSARY on this folder (the one that is blue). Now that you have named it click on that folder that says anniversary, this will open the folder.

 

 

Now you see the red circle? It says save, click on that, you have just save your sig.

Wonderful!!

Okay for the next step! You go to photo bucket and sign in with your nick name and password.

 

You will see a page like this.

Your in what is called your root album, we need to make a home for you anniversary sigs. You see here I have circled the add album, type anniversary in (as shown), now click on create.

Good! Now I want you to go up some and you will see this.

Click on browse, Looking at the top to make sure you’re in your anniversary album (it will show it to the right of your nickname…..**my album is named how to post an image**

Now the window will pop up and you need to find my pictures again (most likely this will do this on its own) if it doesn't use the drop window we used before to find my pictures in your documents.

 

 

You get this window open and click on your anniversary folder you made now click on the sig one time. You will see the blank line next to browse has typing in the blank line, this is your sig. Now click *SUBMIT*

 Now your sig is in its place.

Fantastic!

 

Now I want you to do something, you see the three lines under your sigs? The only one you need to use for this BB is Direct Link ……there are several different ways to post on the board but for those just learning I believe this to be the best way…plus you will be able to “see” the picture you are posting before it post!

Go back to the top of the page where you see account options, here....

Do this if you don’t want to worry about which link you need to use until you are use to posting…….

Click on that, you will see this page; I want you to click them just like I have marked here. No to URL and NO to IMG. Now click on update and go back to your page.

You will see the change in the page, see how it looks?

CONTD.....

Now all you have to do is copy that one line, the best way I have found to copy the line (called the URL) is to right click, this window will open click on select all, the URL will turn blue.

 

 

Right click again and click on copy, just like below.

Now you need to come back here (the bb) and open the window you want to reply to. Place your arrow on the place you type your reply, like this....

Now right click again and the same window will open and click paste, look below.

Now click on reply or start subject and you just posted your picture or sig! Wasn't that fun?

 

There are several places on the net to get free snags this site is by far the most popular......Simply Snagables 

 

Just click on it and it will take you to the main page. You will have to sign up with your nickname and give them a pass word (it's so they can let you know when your siggys are ready) after you do that you look to the left and you will see creative arts. Click on that and you will see a list in the middle of different siggys forums.

CONTD.......

Click on one Simply Snaggable and then when you get in the forum look to the top and you will see tabs. Click on messages and you will be able to view and pick out something you like.

This is a test bed for you to practice your posting skills……

If you see a sig you like and someone is using it, you may want to ask them if they mind if you snag it or where they had it made to get something similar.

I use to make sigs and I try to make several with out names so if you like them you are more than welcome to use those.

Linda - what a great job and it will make it so simple for anyone!!

I have a suggestion that works for me. After I copy the TAG (I have created a word pad document) and store these there under a heading of what they are (Welcomes, Thank Yous, Signatures, Holidays, etc.). Then when I want to post one here, I have that document open and can easily copy and paste without having to open Photobucket each time I want to access a pic. or siggy. I usually deposit several pic in Photobucket at a time so then I just copy the tags to the word pad.

This is just a sugestion - it works for me, but it may not be what someone else would find useful.

I used to do that before PB, but now I just leave it open all of the time and can easily flip back and forth between the BB and PB....open PB first, then open a NEW browser window for the BB....easy and fast --two of my favorite things! *grin*

Thanks Suzy: Will give it a try. There are a few I use all the time and find I can access them in Word Pad fairly easily (my super favorites) - also have started putting my links that I post here, there also. Isn't Photobucket a wonder! They make it so easy to store pics! Thanks again

Linda this is great. I hope people appreciate all your hard work. TG I had a verbal tutor. She was great. But I think even a thick headed person like me could follow this. Great job!. Actually now that I think about it, she really did all the work. lol.
