    Saw this on the news this morning.

    Rival® Slow Cooker

    Models 3040, 3735, 5025, 5070, and 5445
    Manufactured between January 1999 and May 2002
    If you purchased one of these Rival® Slow Cookers, stop using it immediately.
    Rival will replace the slow cooker base only of your model.
    Please DO NOT dispose of the lid and the stoneware insert.

    I don't have one of these, I don't think (I think the rival at my house is older), but this is great info to keep bumped up!

    Wow, mine is one of those recalled! Funny thing is I just wrote Rival a few weeks ago telling them I was not pleased with this newer crockpot and they wanted $6 and me to ship it back to them and they would replace it. It got so hot it pulled the countertop away from the wood base of the cabinet.

    Yikes, I have two of them! The handle just split on the 5445.

    I just called Rival. Replacements will be only in white or black so those of you, who like me, have stainless steel are out of luck. If you have more than one in the recall send the plug that is requested seperately. Linda

    Just checked mine out and although the model number was on the recall, the website also asks for the date on the plug-and the date on mine wasn't part of the recall.

    I was hoping to see the model number on this list of the Smart Pot that boils everything in 2 hours! that I bought last fall! Used it twice and each time food was ruined. A dozen e-mails to Rival got me exactly no where! Oh well! Just doing a little venting!
