    peanutbutter rice crispies treats

I know I saw a recipe for rice crispie treats using peanut butter instead of butter and I'm sure I read it yesterday. I have retraced my steps and can't find it. I checked the search and couldn't come up with it there either. Can anyone help me?

I would like to reply to MomAtHome:
I have a great recipe for Peanut Butter Krispies:
    1 C light corn syrup
    1 C Peanut Butter
    12 oz Chocolate Chips
    1 C sugar
    4-4 1/2 C Rice Krispies

Bring corn syrup & sugar to a rolling boil ONLY. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter. Mix well. Pour over rice krispies. Pat in pan. Melt chips and spread over rice krispies. Cut into bars.

I usually put the bars in the fridge for a few minutes to "firm" them up.

I can't be sure which of the recipes you ladies sent in is the one I saw. It doesn't matter because they both sound like winners. Thanks

I make the regular treat recipe but then just add peanut butter. But this would be even better because I always have corn syrup in the house, but have to buy marshmallows special. So you can make them without marshmallows and they are just as good? This is good to know. Thanks!

This is the recipe I have used for about 16 years.

    Peanut butter rice crispy treats

    1 c peanut butter
1 (12 oz) pkg butterscotch chips
    6 or 7 c rice crispies

Melt peanut butter and butterscoth chips together in top of double boiler. Put rice crispies in large pot and pour mixture over them. Stir to mix. Put wax paper in 9x13" pan and put rice crispy mixture over it and smooth out. Chill in refrigerator until firm. Cut in squares. Store in refrigerator.

This was in Light & Tasty April/May 2003 and sounds totally yummy. Can't wait to try it.

I just LOVE these but I make mine with Special K cereal. I do have a question however, mine USUALLY are extremely difficult to cut because they get hard. Do you have to bring the corn syrup & sugar to a rolling boil????? Mzfryz

I usually take it off the heat after I see a few bubbles.

    Good luck...these are my favorite.
