    fruit pectin

I have a recipe that calls for 1 bottle of fruit pectin. I went to the store and only found liquid fruit pectin in 2 pouch packs. Each pouch is 3 fluid ounce. My question is--does one pouch equal one bottle of fruit pectin or does it take both to equal one bottle of fruit pectin?

    RE: fruit pectin

    hello wren
i have found that it depends alot on the recipe in my finding one 3ounce pouch will make i batch off jam or jelly for one bottle it may be the both pouches if it is required 6 ouce jar check your recipe if it says i jar then try both pouches if it the jam or jelly is to thick then try it with just one pouch your jam or jelly should pull slowly away from the side of jar when sealed and cooled then it is fine if its to hard it will not pull away at all then it will be tough and thick almost hard to spread try it it may work well for you

Thank you for the help. I will use both pouches in the recipe. Here is the recipe--
    Canned peach topping from cooks.com
3 1/2 c ripe peaches, peeled and chopped
1 c ripe bananas, finely chopped
    1/4 c maraschion cherries, chopped
    2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
    6 c sugar
    1 bottle fruit pectin

combine first 4 ingredients and mis. Add sugar and fruit pectin. Bring to full rolling boil and boil for 1 minute. Pour into sterilized jars and sea. Makes 6 (1/2 pint) jars. I pan to process for 10 minuted in a water bath canner. Serve over cottage cheeese, ice cream, cheese cake, custard or combine with fresh fruit for a salad.

I,m sorry for the spelling errors in the directions. Let me type them again.

(I plan to process for 10 minutes in a water bath canner.) Makes 6 (1/2 pint) jars. Serve over cottage cheese, ice cream, cheese cake, custard or combine with fresh fruit salad.

Does the pectin have an 800 phone number on the package that you could call? Ask them about it.....I think both pouches sounds like a lot for the small amount of fruit.....JMO.

yes and I called the 1 800 number all day and could not get through. The customer rep. was busy with others and the recording said to call later.
