BATTLE OF THE BARS CONTINUES: Offering my "TOFFEE BARS" for First Place!

I knew I was saving this special recipe for a special occasion. This has gotta be the time! I can't let this bar recipe sit quietly in a drawer without being exposed to the world of challenge. So Jax & Dorothy, prepare yourselves!

Tam, these sound chocolately delicious. Oh, no, the Peanut Butter Bars might be trembling at the top......nah, my bars are gonna knock your bars in the dirt! LOL!

P.S. If I were to make these could I use butter flavored Crisco or does it need to be the regular?

Jax: I don't really know about the buttered flavored Crisco. I "think" it would be OK. Maybe we should compare the two labels?

I'd bought a package of the butter flavored sticks to make some cookies and was looking for ways to use them up. But if you think it's iffy I'll just pick up a can of the regular. I don't want to interfere with that toffee flavor! I'm also going to need a bigger can of oatmeal this time!

So, I'll meet you in the ring very soon and we'll just settle this thing like gladiators!

A tip on making these maybe? Instead of having to melt the chips and then spread them like frosting? I saw another recipe that had you pour chocolate chips all over the top of just out of the oven hot bars. Then you waited a few minutes and the chips were so soft you could just spread them around with The Offset Spatula! So easy. I bet that would work here too. Since it is a lot of chips I think I'll lay a towel over the pan to really trap the heat for a few minutes, then those little chips will be putty in my hands, er, spatula!

Weeddigger I just posted a Pecan Toffee Square recipe.

I sure know they are delicious, we will have to make each others recipe and then compare them.LOL

You know Jaxon I bet the peanut butter bars would be delicious with some toffee thrown in.

Now ladies here are the best bars, try them and you will see what I am talking about.

The absolute best bar has to be PECAN TOFFEE SQUARES. These always go fast at gatherings and are always requested. They are crunchy, gooey, chocolatey- what more could you ask for!

1pkg. Pillsbury Moist Supreme yellow cake mix
1 stick butter or margarine, softened
    1 egg
    FILLING:
    1 can sweetened condensed milk
    1tsp vanilla
    1 egg
6oz chocolate-coated toffee pieces(we use Heath bites candy and chop them)
    1 cup chopped pecans

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9 inch pan. In large bowl, combine cake mix, butter, and egg; mix well with pastry blender or fork. Press mixture in bottom of pan. Bake for 7 minutes.
Meanwhile, in medium bowl, combine condensed milk, vanilla, and egg; mix well. Stir in toffee bits and pecans.
Remove pan from oven; pour filling evenly over warm base. Return to oven; bake an additional22-30 minutes or until filling is set. Cool 1 hour or until completely cooled. Cut into bars. Store in refridgerator.
    36 bars

I recommend refridgerating before cutting because you will have a much cleaner-looking bar. These are great for holidays or bake sales. Bring the recipe with you because everyone will be asking for it.

Now we will have to wait for someone to try all three recipes and see what they say about them. The fight is on. LOL

I'm an "equal opportunity baker" so will give these bars a chance. Sorry Jaxon. The pb bars were fantastic but these sound awfully good too. Sadie
