I am on line trying to find more information and SO HAPPY to find others who know what this device is and have enjoyed it as much as I have. Mine is 25+ years old. I used to use it with my mom when I was growing up. I got it in my parent's divorce and my mom has been jealous ever since. My grandma had bought one for my mom and my 2 aunts but I was unable to procur one from either of my aunts (who probably both threw theirs away...being non-bakers). My dad was recently going through Grandma's house and came across one still in the package. I'm torn about giving it to mom for a Christmas surprise or keeping the new one and passing her old one back to her that is just about to give up the fight. I'd say it's one of the world's best inventions.

I also love my cookie scoop from Duncan Hines. I was so glad to find one in my daughter's kitchen so I have a back-up in case mine breaks. After using it for so many years, I would be lost without it. The patent number is right on the handle (U.S. PAT. 4,191,517).

I desperately want one of these! Since you took the time to find the patent and Duncan Hines isn't any help...have you tried sending the information to some sort of kitchenware company like Pampered Chef or Wiliams Sonoma and suggested that they produce the scoop? I would think it would be a big seller.

I know exactly what you're talking about! I have one that I use regularly as well and have been dreading the day when the membrane breaks. I figure mine is over 20 years old now b/c I'm pretty sure I used it when I was still living at home with my parents. I have searched on e-bay and just ran across your posting while doing a google search. It sounds like we're out of luck unless we happen to find one at a garage sale or an auction! Everyone seems to like the Pampered Chef or Norpro kind but I like this one. I find it easier to squeeze. Thanks for doing the research with the company and even locating the patent. That's devotion! If you ever hear of a source, I'd love to know.

Any good kitchen store should have them also some dollar stores.
I have 2 plastic ones and 3 or 4 stainless steel. I love mine when i go on a cookie baking binge.

I think I have one of these. It's like a plastic bulb, you squeeze and the membrane "pops" out and dumps the dough on the sheet?

I will keep my out for them in the stores.

Well heck. I have never seen a Duncan Hines cookie scoop. I don't suppose you have tried ebay? I wish I knew what the Duncan Hines scoop looked like.

Duncan Hines Cookie Scoop

Several years ago when Duncan Hines came out with boxed cookie mixes they offered a plastic cookie dough scoop. This is my favorite utensil. I had a couple but over the years the membrane broke. I did find my moms after she passed away and it is my most cherished item. I use it very carefully since they are no longer found anywhere. Duncan Hines is no help. I have found the patent on it and have contacted some kitchen supply companies and no one wants to try to find out if they are available anywhere. Does anyone remember these and know where they can be found. They had a flexible plastic handle, somewhat like a baster bulb and a membrane scoop portion. If you know what I am talking about let me know. Thank you, thank you!!
