IF YOU HAVE A LARGE ENOUGH MUG, AND LIKE YOUR COFFEE STRONG, YOU COULD USE TWO K CUPS, I LIKE MY 1ST 8OZ STRONG, THEN I REUSE THE K CUP FOR MY SECOND AND DO A 5OZ CUP, I THINK THEY ARE BOTH STRONG, BUT THAT IS ALL I NEED FOR THE DAY, AND SO FAR, IM THE ONLY ONE MAKING COFFEE IN THE HOUSE, MY HUNNY LIKES TEAS, AND THE BOYS LIKE HOT COCO'S...SO ITS PERFECT FOR ME...A BOX OF K-CUPS LASTS ME OVER A MONTH, SO I LIKE THAT...

Cost of a cup of coffee would depend. If you are using the K-Cups, the cheapest you can usually find retail is Bed Bath Beyond using the 20% coupon. Box of 18 is $9.99 so you get it for about $8. About 44 cents a cup. The reusable filter is $14.99 (say $12 with 20% off) and it will last many many cups of coffee. I have had my machine almost 2 years and am only on my second reusable filter (the first one I crushed under something and it broke lol!). You can use whatever coffee you want with the reusable filter. Which would put it at the same price as any good old drip maker. The Keurig is a variation on a drip, but instead of the hot water dripping through there is some "whoosh" that pushes the water through faster. So net net wouldn't cost any more than any other coffee maker when it comes to coffee. My preference is that I use the reusable filter for my everyday coffee (I love one of the coffee's from Whole Foods and the one with the toucan bird from Trader Joe's), and occasionally (and at the holidays) buy the flavored coffees in K-Cups for when I want something different.

I do not mind the price of the machine-they are not as pricey as they used to be and it is a one time deal-but what does a cup of coffee avg. out? That is DH's worry-men can take the fun outta some things LOL.

The coffees come in different "strengths" to begin with. Some are "bold extra strong" some are "light". You just have to find one that works for you. You can make any size cup with any K-Cup (K-Cups are all one size), but the smaller the cup will make stronger coffee. I don't care for strong coffee, so I prefer the light or medium coffees, and I use the largest cup setting. Also, if you buy the reusable filter and use your own fresh ground beans, you can vary the strength somewhat by the grind of the beans.

Jav: Do you find that the coffee is strong enough for you? I read on some of the epionions sites that some say the coffee is too weak, especially with the larger models that make 3 or 4 different sizes. How would an 8 oz cup using one K-cup make the same tasting coffee as a 12 oz cup? Do you have to purchase different size K-cups?

I LOVE MINE, GOT IT EARLY FOR MOTHERES DAY, BUT I CAN MAKE ME A STRONG CUP OF COFFEE, THE BOYS CAN MAKE HOT COCO, AND HUBBY CAN MAKE TEA..AND NO MESS, JUST THROW THE K-CUPS AWAY....I LOVE IT...I WOULD SAY ONCE YOU TRY IT, YOU WILL SEE WHAT I MEAN.........WATCH FOR THE SALES, AS I THINK WALMART, WILL BE SELLING THEM FOR 99.OO...AND K-CUPS TOO

I LOVE my Keurig!!! I got it for Christmas, and use it all the time! I like to have different flavored coffees, so this machine is perfect. I actually have a selection of about 15 to 20 different flavors in my apartment. Some of my favorites are Mudslide, Sleigh Ride, French Toast, French Vanilla and Creme Brulee. I like a milder cofee, so for plain coffee I drink Nantucket Blend or Breakfast Blend. I also use the reusable filter to make Dutch Apple Pie coffee I got from 7-11.

I recently purchased two mini Keurig coffee makers from QVC for about $77 each -- one for me and one for my college daughter.

The minis are totally portable -- I take to work on Monday for my work coffee and bring home on Friday for my weekend coffee.

You do not have to use the "K-cups" as another poster already stated.

I likewise will never go back to a drip coffee maker. You have the option of registering your coffee maker at Keurig.com and you will recieve two boxes of coffee pods free (no shipping and handling) with a purchase of two boxes.

You can also make tea and cocoa in this machine.

Note: I first experienced this technology at a conference in Kansas City, MO -- some 12 years ago -- thought the idea to be ingenious -- I am very happy that I now am the proud owner of my own little pod coffee maker.

Give it a go -- don't think you will be disappointed !!

These are more of the espresso not just coffee. I tried this brand and the phillips senseo machines I really liked the senseo better and purchased one. I absolutely love it, plus the supreme one does hot tea, cappuccinos, and hot chocolate. If you add ice to the hot tea you will have iced tea by the glass. You can also make your pods, you don't have to purchase theirs but I suggest you try the Godiva pods, EXCELLENT!!!!!

I am still mulling this too. I also make a big pot in the morning and put the rest in a thermos for when I get home from work. I usually drink 2 big cups in the morning so I guess I would have to stay by the machine and make 2 cups as needed. QVC had a big sale on these a couple weeks ago along with a huge selection of K cups. Everyone who has this seems to really like it.

They make a reusable filter for you to use your own coffee. They sell them whereever they sell Keurig. It's not like a drip paper filter-it is a plastic cup with a little net filter inside where you place the coffee. Bascially a reusable K-cup. ;-)

I bought my Keurig in 2007, and I absolutely love it! Both of my sisters and my niece then got one, so now my whole family is on the Keurig bandwagon. For Christmas, we exchange K-cups as one of our small gifts lol!

I will never ever go back to a regular drip maker. I can always have fresh coffee when I want it. I can have a cup of flavored coffee without having to make an entire pot. I can decide I want a cup of coffee and not have to wait for an entire pot to brew-only takes the machine a minute or so to warm up from off and be ready to make a cup. If I have a guest over who wants decaf, I don't have to wonder about how to make 2 different pots of coffee at a time. We each get our own cup.

Keurig also came out with a "baby" version. It uses the regular K-Cups/reusable filter, but has a smaller water reservoir (ie would need to be refilled more frequently) and makes a smaller cup size of coffee. (On the larger models you can choose what size in ounces you want.) I believe it is under $100.

Actually the price isn't that bad. Some of the higher end drip makers run just as much. Breville (I believe an Australian company under license from Keurig) also makes a machine that uses K-cups that is either chrome or stainless. But it runs about $300. The regular Keurig has come down in price-I was in Bed Bath Beyond last weekend and saw they were around $120 something. Then you can use one of their 20% off coupons. Costco is selling Keurig for $119 and comes with 90 K-Cups.

We are mulling over buying one of these coffee makers. I am not a big coffee drinker but DH is and he would love to have a fresh cup throughout the day. Right now I make a pot in the morning and pour the leftover in a thermos. I would use the cups since that's what it's designed to use.

I see these very expensive coffee makers all over the place, $129 and up for a one cup! What is so good about these coffeepots? And do you have to use the expensive K-cups all the time?
