This isn't a vote that would pass the bill, but is just a procedural vote on whether to proceed with debate on it. The vote is scheduled for Saturday night at 8 pm, and of they vote to go ahead with debate that would probably not begin until after the Thanksgiving recess. And, naturally, the Republicans are expected to filibuster at every opportunity, so this could get very interesting.

There's an article here that explains a little about the differences between the Senate and House bills, and some of what is likely to occur in the Senate as they try to move ahead with the bill:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/20/health/policy/20health.html

And while this isn't specifically related to current events, it's still something I'd like to mention... on this date, November 20, 2009, we should be celebrating Robert F. Kennedy's 84th birthday. Sadly, he's already been gone for 41 years. RFK is the political figure most responsible for my shift from the conservative views I held until the mid-80s to the progressive/liberal thinking I embrace today. I happened to read a couple of biographies about him, and then started doing some serious thinking and more reading, and everything fell into place. So in honor of RFK, here are a couple of passages from him that have always struck a chord with me:

Let no one be discouraged by the belief there is nothing one man or woman can do against the enormous array of the world's ills--against misery and ignorance, injustice and violence... Few will have the greatness to bend history itself; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total of all those acts will be written the history of this generation. It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

and

From now on, you have earned the right to do your own learning, to develop your own insights and draw your own conclusions, to conduct your own explorations in the life you find around you. Your minds have been freed. You may sometimes regret it, for a freed mind insists on seeking out reality, and reality is often a far more painful matter than the soft and comfortable illusions of the intellectually poor. In the light of a truly freed mind, no prejudice can disguise itself as zeal, no bullying can masquerade as leadership, no pettiness can pose as importance. The freed mind will never confuse a sentimentality with a true emotion, an act of violence with an act of heroism, a slogan with a cause. Men and women with freed minds may often be mistaken, but they are seldom fooled. They may be influenced, but they can't be intimidated. They may be perplexed, but they will never be lost.

Peruvian authorities say they have arrested four members of a gang that specialized in selling fat obtained from dead humans.

Officials are investigating the disappearance of at least 60 people who may have been killed by gang members in two mountainous states in central Peru, the nation's attorney general said in a release Wednesday.

The four suspects have been charged with murder.

Two of the suspects were arrested November 3 as they left a transport business with a plastic container with human fat in it.

The fat was sold in Peru and Europe and used for commercial purposes, Peruvian officials said.

Over 30 every three years. They are finding the early start and annual testing has caused preterm delivery. They said that this won't be met with so much rage as the breast thing was. It's on the internet if you want to look up.Start age 21 ,or three years after becoming sexually active.I think as years go by they'll see allot of damage has been done by things done to the body.

Prayer for Health Care

Lord, we know that you must be aggrieved at the thought of so many people in the world who suffer from denial of access to the healing arts. As a Healer Yourself, you showed unconditional compassion to so many of us humans who desperately needed to be restored to health in order to better praise and glorify Your holy name.

You did not refuse care to the leper with a terrible pre-existing condition.

You did not insist that the blind have vision care in their policies.

You made the lame walk again without demanding they turn over their entire savings for surgery or prosthetic limbs.

Your mother Mary would have been kicked out of the stable after 24 hours under our current system, never able to receive the Gifts of the Magi.

The distressed found succor within Your warm embrace, without being referred to community mental health or substance abuse clinics with hopelessly long waiting lists for quick med checks and little guidance.

Lord, we have tried using the power of prayer to cure our loved ones, and sometimes it seemed like that worked. Unfortunately, as you know by their presence in Your Heavenly abode, prayer was often not enough. You gave our medical professionals skill and intelligence, and You hoped that we would find a way as a people to let them make use of their great gifts for the benefit of all.

It must frustrate You when our dedicated health professionals, who received Your grace and wisdom while preparing for their arduous careers, are not permitted to treat the working poor. You must shed tears when a hospital turns away an ambulance because they refuse to accept uninsured patients, or they accept that person only until they are ”stabilized,” then sent to a charity hospital with inadequate resources to provide affordable care. And when the bills come in for the meager treatment they did receive, we know that You hear their despair.

It must break Your compassionate heart when Your flock is forced to choose between shelter, heat, food, or medical treatment.

When the people in charge find a way to harm us in Your name, when they claim to be “Christians” yet base their compassion upon the size of a person’s employer, this must provoke the righteous anger You showed towards the money-changers in the Temple.

Let God Set Your Agenda

By Joyce Meyer
Guest Writer

CBN.com --

But this thing I did command them: Listen to and obey My voice, and I will be your God and you will be My people; and walk in the whole way that I command you, that it may be well with you (Jeremiah 7:23).

Remember, you made your schedule, and you can change it. Pray about your day, your week, and your life goals to find out what God wants you to do, and what He doesn't want you to do.

If you don't do what God is telling you to do, you may let people control and manipulate you to do what they want you to do. You may end up doing things for which you are not anointed. If you do what God tells you to do, He will bless you with joy, peace, rest, and wonderful relationships.

Get Rid of Distractions

That which is desired in a man is loyalty and kindness [and his glory and delight are his giving] (Proverbs 19:22).

Sometimes you may just need to clear away the clutter so you can clearly see what is worthwhile. Here is a simple suggestion: Don't keep more than you can take care of. If you have so much junk in your home that it takes you hours to dust it, get rid of something.

Find a big carton and write "Blessing Box" on the side of it. Start putting extra things into it until cleaning is more manageable. Find someone who doesn't have much and bless them. You will be amazed at how easy it is to start your day right when you are no longer distracted by things you don't need.

Get Up and Work

And let the beauty and delightfulness and favor of the Lord our God be upon us; confirm and establish the work of our hands-yes, the work of our hands, confirm and establish it (Psalm 90:17).

It is obvious we are supposed to work more than rest. Some people just lie on the couch, eating junk food and watching television all day, and then they wonder why their lives are a wreck.

Once rested, get up and work. You can't take authority over your life if you don't have authority over a sink full of dirty dishes or a messy garage. If you want to grow in ministry to others, the Word says you must get your own house in order first (see 1 Timothy 3:5). Stay home and clean if you need to; but win the battle of getting your life in order before tackling the whole world.

Ministry Is Fulfilling Work

For you shall eat [the fruit] of the labor of your hands; happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) shall you be, and it shall be well with you (Psalm 128:2).

There is nothing more fulfilling than being rested and ready for the work that God has called us to do. God puts the desire in us to minister to people through whatever work we do. But ministry is work that requires physical, emotional, and spiritual strength.

Hard work is rewarding when you follow God's way and minister to other people through "the labor of your hands." That is why it is so important to start your day with God. His presence will build you up emotionally, His words will strengthen you spiritually, and the time of rest that He calls you to enjoy will make you physically able to handle whatever may come your way.

Project Runway

What did you think of the finale.....

I liked Carol Hannah all the way through.....But maybe I just liked Carol Hannah.

Looking For Reviews On Chicago Brownie Divider Pan.

I have soo many recipes for casserroles that use cheese, but have posted some of them already when the food of the day was casseroles, so I will leave you with two of my faves.

Mac and Cheese

1 lb. elbow macaroni
1 lb. velveeta, cubes
1 lb. sharp cheddar cheese cubed
1 stick butter, cubed
1 can evaporated milk
1/2 tsp. black pepper
8 oz. shredded mild cheddar cheese

Preheat
oven to 350. Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and
put back into the pot. Add velveeta, sharp chessar, butter, evaporated
milk and black pepper. Stir until velveeta begins to melt. Spread into
a 13 by 9 inch casserole dish. Sprinkle mild cheddar over the top.
Cover with foil. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Remove foil, bake 15
minutes more until cheese is brown and bubbly.

Cheesy Grits and Eggs

1 1/4 cups chicken broth
1/4 cup quick grits
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. black pepper
2 wedges light garlic and herb cheese (laughing cow)
1/2 cup southwestern egg substitute

Bring
chicken broth to a boil in a small saucepan. Add grits, garlic powder
and black pepper, whisking vigorously. Bring back to a boil, lower heat
to a simmer. Let simmer 3-5 minutes, or until grits are thickened and
creamy in texture, stirring often. Break cheese wedges into smaller
pieces, add to the grits. Whisk constantly until the cheese is fully
melted. Pour into a bowl. Meanwhile, spray a small skillet with cooking
spray. Add southwestern egg substitute, scramble to desired
consistency. Break eggs into bite size pieces, mix into the grits.
Makes one hearty or two lighter servings.
