Birdman wil put the bathouse right above the window, I am sure "it" will find it that way. He will make it small enough to hold 12 bats, max, and use nice thick wood for insulation and ly a small openeing. It will be protected from the north west winds which prevail most of the winter.

Anyway, it's a cute little critter, it blinks his little bead eyes at me in the morning when I close the window to keep cool air in. Darn thing looks fragile when it crawls on the cloth. It's only about 2" lto 2 1/2 " ong. I don't know how they survive our winters but they do,

I am also surprised that we still have quite a few bats, especially will all sthe farmerss do and the city sprays the park by the lake before any public events so people are not plagued by skeeters.. Here in town it is safer and quite a few bugs (many "MIllers") around street lights.

Mine does, somewhere. Not sure where, I hope it isn't my attic.

but, during the winter, i think it was anyway, there was a bat that would curl up into the side of one of the bales of hay in the loft. We would see it during the day. Maybe it was warmer weather. I swear, can't remember a darn thing anymore.

Here is it:

Most here know that I drive an old electric golf cart and because this old bat drives it, I call it the Batmobile, complete with 18" bat decals on front and rear.

I have been keeping this a secret for 10 days because I could not believe it myself: a REAL bat sort of adopted me. I have a see-through green shade cloth on the ouside of my bedroom window (the same stuff they use to shade green houses.

10 days ago I woke up and saw this thing hangon the cloth and thought it was an eaf the wind had blown there. The next morning it was there again, but in a different place, the again in a different place.

And on the 4th day I saw it move. A REAL bat had made the shade cloth home. It sits in the morning sun for about an hour and then moves up to where it is shady and goes to sleep. Leaves at dusk and is back in the morning.

Now if I can get it to ride with me I could say that I have a REAL Batmobile.

Now I have to start looking for a bat house because it can't hang there all winter. Our local BIrd Man (of Alcatraz, as I call him), who is a wildlife expert and nature lover, says he has plans and will make one for me. Hopefully my bat will attract others to come and spend the winter in it's new home so they can keep each other warm. IT's no wonder I have not seen as many bugs flying around the house and that is a good thing.

There, now my secret is out in the open. I am a REAL Batwoman now.

Re: I knew it would happen sooner or later.

What happened, gre_lo?
