Yes, Johnny is set to play Barnabus, but the movie has been delayed until 2010 because of Tim Burton's (the producer) work on Alice in Wonderland. Ican't wait!

Dark Shadows is one of the things that started my love of vampires, but I also read a book called "The Natural History of the Vampire" when I was in mid-school and that sealed the deal!

I did think Barnabus was sexy, back when I was eleven or so. I saw the show a few years ago, though, and I couldn't believe how slow the pace was. Of course, I guess it's no slower than other soap operas, which essentially is what it was.

But I think the attraction to vampires is much more primal. A somewhat cold, powerful man, who is for some reason desires you; who follow you anywhere and hold you spellbound; whose "kiss" can mean death or an everlasting romance...

That is something I'd love to see. With Brad Pitt playing Quentin. After all he has already played a Vampire. Pauly Perrete would be great as Angelique.

Dark Shadows began in 1966. I am still a fan of the show and have started buying the series on dvd. At the beginning of each episode they show the date the show was taped and the air date. It has been great watching it -- the cameras getting into view, the actors messing up their lines and the props not working properly.

I think people have been fascinated with vampires for centuries. There is some talk of Johnny Depp playing Barnabus Collins in a movie of Dark Shadows, but I don't think it is a definite thing yet.

It may have increased the level of fascination but I don't think it created it. I remember black and white movies from the 30's and 40's that had a romantic undertone.

Oh God do I remember that show! I couldn't wait to get home from school to watch it. And the best thing about it is that you could see the strings and all from the so-called special effects.

Quentin was my favorite character. And Angelique (Lara Parker) was fun to watch. The show was running on Sci-Fi network for a while but they're not showing it anymore.

It was on well before 1970. Mid-60's?

I watched it with the neighborhood kids. We thought it was cheezy, with bad acting & really cheap special effects.

My Dearest Sister was/is a huge Dark Shadows & Barnabus fan! I remember the opening of the program and the water washing ashore.

Pretty good stuff for 30 something years ago!

Not sure of the dates, but do you remember Dark Shadows. It was on just about the time I got home. I wonder if this program started the facination, since Dracula really didn't make the vampire appear very romantic. What do you think?
