Searching for Brownies made from cake mix OR Lemon Bars from cake mix

I have a lot of cake mixes and need to cake a bar of some sort to a bingo game so would like to use some of them up-I know I have chocolate, spice and lemon

Since the economy’s a mess, I decided to hold a drawing to giveaway some of the items that I sew in hopes of helping 12 people out with their gift list this holiday season....even if it's a gift for YOU!

I’ll be giving away the following (the pictures are just an example of each item, not necessarily the exact item, fabric-wise, that will be given away):

2 Insulated Casserole Carriers. The carriers hold a 9x13 pan and are composed of three layers – two of decorative fabrics, one of a dense insulating material. They will keep your foods either hot or cold!

4 Baked Potato Bags. The bag holds one to four medium-sized potatoes and is used to cook your potatoes in the microwave. The potato will be well done on the inside, yet moist, and the skin remains tender! From what I’ve been told – sweet potatoes and a small squash cook equally as well in the bag.

2 Over-The Shoulder Comfort Packs. These are handy for those stress-filled days when your shoulders are up to your ears! Just heat in the microwave and the flaxseed-filled channels will take care of the rest. Non-scented.

2 Pairs of Lounge/Sleep Pants. These are available in Women’s sizes ranging from XS (size 4) up to XL (size 18-20). These will be made out of flannel with an elastic waist and a ribbon bow on the front.

I will be paying all of the postage to get the items to the winners and the fabric choices will be mine.

Repost of Chocolate Toffee Cheeseball.......Great for the Holidays

Chocolate Toffee Cheese Ball

8 oz cream cheese softened
1 stick butter softened
1/4 tsp vanilla
3/4 c powdered sugar
2 tbsp brown sugar
3/4 c mini chocolate chips
1/2 c English toffee bits.
(about 1/3 cup pecans)

Mix cream cheese and butter and vanilla. Stir in sugars and fold in chips and toffee. Refrigerate 2-3 hours. Form into ball and roll in chopped pecans.

She suggested if you wanted to thin the mixture with milk or Kaluha you would have a dip for fruits or graham cracker sticks.

This is excellent and you will be making it again and again, I promise.

In fact, she would be shocked I think! No decorations down the middle of the table, everyday plates, and plastic, tupperware and metal serving dishes and everyday glasses. But we will have cloth napkins and real silver. We are in the process of selling our house and most everything from the china closet has been wrapped and packed in boxes. Good thing strangers aren't coming to dinner or they would think...gee, I wonder if it looks like this for company what must it look like when it's just the two of them...paper plates? Don't tempt me....I still have those available. lol Well, the meal is what counts, right? Close friends and a daughter coming so they'll understand.

I can't remember what I usually buy! I usually just pick a large apple, maybe Gala, but not sure. My DH is going to the store for me this year and I have to be specific! LOL What is your favorite apple to use? I'll be making the old fasioned cranberry salad with cranberries, an apple, an orange, sugar and nuts, all ground up. (not cooked) Thanks! Sandy

Looking to add to my daughters cookbook. Three years ago you all helped me put together a cookbook of which I tried to have a recipes from all the states. I made a scrapbook with state information and then I put recipes behind each state. At the time she was getting married. Now she has two children (a little girl 3 and a 1yr old little boy, she has her hands full) I can not tell how much fun we had putting the book together. So I'd like to add more recipes for the holidays. Please include your town and state in you don't mind. Thank

And realized how much I really did miss using them!! I have all the shapes: star, heart, flower, scallop and square.

I made the Herbed Dinner Rolls recipe from QC and put that dough in the pans. Made such cute slices--then served with softened cheese spread.

I sent a couple loaves of plain dough to school for my son's class as a snack. The kids went crazy over the cute shapes--and it was a healthy snack for them.

Friends with whom I've shared this recipe say it's their favorite way to serve sweet potatoes. I like to make it for brunch as a colorful go-with dish. The mingled sweet, tart and salty tastes are an unusual treat.

This recipe is:

Contest Winning

10-12 Servings

Prep: 20 min. Bake: 25 min.

Ingredients

2 cups chopped pretzel rods (about 13)
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup butter, melted, divided
1 can (2-1/2 pounds) sweet potatoes, drained
1 can (5 ounces) evaporated milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

In a large bowl, combine the pretzels, pecans, cranberries, brown sugar and 1/2 cup butter; set aside.
In a large bowl, beat the sweet potatoes until smooth. Add the milk, sugar, vanilla and remaining butter; beat until well blended.
Spoon into a greased shallow 2-qt. baking dish; sprinkle with pretzel mixture. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are bubbly. Yield: 10-12 servings.

My DD loves sweet potatoes and I've been looking for something a little different. I ran across this and thought it sounded good and different, the reviews sounded great. These will definitely be on my holiday table.

Doris and Renate- so good to see you stopping in- it's nice to know someone is watching over this post while the rest of us sleep!

I hope you have good plans for the day- it's raining here, but it'll be clear later.

OK...RUN, do not walk- to buy some canned pumpkin. They announced that the rain has kept them from picking a lot of pumpkins, so they won't be canning anymore this year. Well, my friends...go get some! We have our wonderful pumpkin cheesecake pudding, the crustless pumpkin pie and other great recipes- also, adding pumpkin to soups will thicken them without changing the flavor...but will only add texture..

The show last night was wonderful...the kids did a terrific job with very difficult material. Tonight the protestors will be there- and I'll be standing there, too...urging them to leave...

Only a few more days to get everything ready for Thanksgiving ( she said- stating the obvious.. )...I hope your plans are going well. Steve will be home later this morning, and he'll be calling his sister to tell her we will be staying home with their folks rather than leaving them alone here...

I will get this going...I think I see Janie waiting to come in for ...

FRIDAY: What's Cookin'? 11/20/2009

Good morning friends .

Have you ever dreamed that you were up and starting the day already and then realized that you were only dreaming? Well that was me this morning lol.

DD throat is still a little sore but she's feeling alot better and eating more .

I forgot to mention that last week DH got the part for our oven (the ignitor) and it is now fixed . We will have Thanksgiving at our house but w/ a few less people as some family members are traveling this year.

I'm going food shopping today to put some turkey breasts in the freezer and to pick up a spiral ham. I'll get the fresh turkey and veggies on Tuesday. I'll decide on what's for dinner while I'm there.

DD has been taking piano lessons but we've had no piano to practice on. While shopping one day I saw an ad in the store window that someone was selling a piano for $75.00. Well we bought it. Yesterday DH, my brother and a friend picked it up and brought it home. It does need to be tuned but it works and DD can practice. Maybe I'll take lessons and learn since I've always wanted to.

Hope Jan is enjoying her time away.

OT:Reviews For Brownie Divider Pan. Chicago Metallic Brand.

Have heard so much about the Brownie Divider Pan,can anyone post reviews on the Chicago Metallic Brand & if it has any other uses for other recipes using the divider,have read some bad reviews on other brands & how hard they are to clean. Have also seen Wilton Brand Brownie & Treat Cutter with decorative edges & Perfect Cut Brownie Cutter with with stainless steel tines,would love to hear your thoughts back about these products please. About Turkeys

I bought two of the turkeys from Wal Mart, one for making broth/stock and one for roasting.

Monday we put one in a cooler (on the porch) and covered it with ice, added water to completely cover the bird. Wednesday added more ice (first was not all thawed) and today the bird was thawed but still too cold to handle with bare hands for long.

I cut the breast out and roasted it and made broth with the rest of it. For anyone wondering if the 'cheap' turkey is good, YES!!! Very good.

And thawing in the cooler worked so well we put the one for roasting in the cooler today to be thawed Wednesday.

Pecan Pie Bars

Yield: 3 dozen bars

Prep Time: 15 Minutes

Cook Time: 40 Minutes

Ingredients

2 cups Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
1 (14 oz.) can Eagle Brand® Sweetened Condensed Milk
3 large eggs
2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

HEAT oven to 350°F. Combine flour and brown sugar in medium bowl; cut in butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press mixture into bottom of 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
BAKE 10 to 15 minutes.
COMBINE pecans, sweetened condensed milk, eggs and lemon juice in small bowl; pour over partially baked crust.
BAKE 25 minutes or until filling is set. Cool. Cut into bars.

Easy recipe that is quick and packs a flavor punch when you eat one! Just won "Best Overall" Dessert contest @ our company Thanksgiving luncheon with these. I will definitely make these again next week for Thanksgiving and whenever I need a quick and easy dessert that is very portable. I agree with the other person who rated this - definitely keep stirring as you fill because the heaviness of syrup mixture sinks to the bottom and the pecans tend to rise above. And if you get to the end of the batch and have more syrupy mix than pecans...add more pecans! 11/19/09

Prep: 15 min., Bake: 10 min. plus 22 min. per batch, Cool: 30 min.

Yield: Makes about 6 dozen

Ingredients

3 cups chopped pecans
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup dark corn syrup
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
5 (2.1-oz.) packages frozen mini-phyllo pastry shells

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 350º. Bake pecans in a single layer in a shallow pan 8 to 10 minutes or until toasted and fragrant.

2. Stir together sugar and corn syrup in a medium bowl. Stir in pecans, eggs, and next 3 ingredients.

3. Spoon about 1 heaping teaspoonful pecan mixture into each pastry shell, and place on 2 large baking sheets.

4. Bake at 350º for 20 to 22 minutes or until set. Remove to wire racks, and let cool completely (about 30 minutes). Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Mini Pecan Pies: Substitute 1 1/2 (8-oz.) packages frozen tart shells for frozen mini-phyllo pastry shells. Prepare recipe as directed through Step 2. Spoon about 1/4 cup pecan mixture into each tart shell. Place tart shells on a large baking sheet. Proceed with recipe as directed in Step 4, increasing bake time to 25 to 30 minutes or until set. Garnish with currants, if desired. Makes 1 dozen. Prep: 15 min., Bake: 30 min.

It's 21º right now and dark. It will be sunny and 51º today so it will be a good day to go to the grocery store.
