This delicious treat is served at Churchill Downs and at Kentucky Derby parties everywhere on Derby Day. The name Derby Pie was trademarked by a Kentucky family, so it can't be called that unless it is made by the Kern's Kitchen where it originated.

1/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
3/4 cup light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped pecans
2 tablespoons bourbon
1 unbaked 9 inch pie shell

Cream butter, add sugar gradually while beating.
