We went to another seafood restaurant, which was very unique and was located in an old ice house.I have to see,if somebody from my family remembers the name.Something with .......Shack,I think Shrimp Shack. It did not look like nothing from the outside, but the food was great. While we were there, the shrimp boats came in,since the restaurant was right on the water.

Re: OT:Questions for anyone who is familiar with Charleston, SC

Folly Beach or Isle of Palms are probably the closest beaches but I would think they would want a car to get there. It would probably be best to check with the hotel about that to see what options are available for transportation.

I am not familiar with the Poe tavern or with public pool access. Again, the Francis Marion staff may be able to help with that. I would suggest they check out

www.charlestoncvb.com/visitors/index.html

which does have information about local beaches, restaurants, attractions, etc.

There are many beautiful historic homes there that are open for tours, and wonderful shopping along King Street or at the Market. My DSIL recommends Hyman's restaurant for the best seafood.

Re: OT:Questions for anyone who is familiar with Charleston, SC

Can't type - sorry - "been" there.

Re: OT:Questions for anyone who is familiar with Charleston, SC

Can't really help you as we've only then there once, but will give you a bump.

Re: OT:Questions for anyone who is familiar with Charleston, SC

Please bump for replys

OT:Questions for anyone who is familiar with Charleston, SC

My DD and her husband are going to Charleston for a long weekend. They are staying at the historic district. The hotel is the Francis Marion.

They would like to go to a beach. Would prefer not to rent a car- how far away is a nice beach?

Would a taxi be the best way to get there?

Are you familiar with Poe tavern?

Anyplace to have perhaps a drink with a lovely view?

Is there a pool with public access anywhere ( the Francis does not have one )?

They love art, music.......

Any suggestions would be so appreciated

thank you

Nadine
