Ingredients:

French Toast -

12 slices of home style white bread cut into 1" cubes
1 1/2 cups of fresh strawberries
8-10 large eggs
1-1 1/2 cups half-and-half
1/3 cup of Canadian Maple Syrup
8 oz cream cheese (cold) cut into 1" cubes

In a well greased 13"x 9" baking dish, arrange one half of the bread cubes.
Arrange all of the cream cheese cubes over the bread cubes and sprinkle the strawberries over the cream cheese and the bread cubes.
Arrange the remaining bread cubes over the strawberries.

Into your blender pour the half-and-half first, then the eggs, followed by the maple syrup.
Blend between each item. Pour evenly over the mixture.
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

Remove the dish from refrigerator 45 minutes prior to baking. Preheat oven.
Bake covered with foil for 30 minutes; remove cover and bake an additional 30 minutes or till French toast is puffed and golden.

To prepare Strawberry Sauce:

Sauce ingredients:
1 cup strawberries
1 cup water
2 T. cornstarch
1 T. butter
1 cup sugar

Use a small saucepan, stir together the sugar, cornstarch, and water.
Cook over moderately high heat, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes or until mixture has thickened. Stir in the strawberries and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes or until berries have softened. Add the butter and stir the sauce until butter has melted. Serve hot over the Strawberry Cream Cheese French Toast. Serves 6-8

**NOTE** Adjust liquids according to personal taste. My DH prefers his dry, I prefer mine moist. Needless to say, I dont' make this for him!

Now the rain is coming, I was sitting out on the deck reading, it's warm, but I got the book done, came inside, and now it's raining.

Hi Meesh, Cameron is the man of the house right now. Good that he is great company.

Marilyn this is your kind of weather, the heat and the humdity, not mine at all, I prefer it cooler.

Dolores, sorry to hear that your Mom is failing, but it would be a blessing when she goes and no more worries for you.

Char, that breakfast sounds so yummy, let us know how they enjoyed it.

Yes I was fortunate not to have it hot in the spring, as soon as the summer started BAM we got the heat.

Here you definately need a/c it's unheard of no having it.

JP, what a shame for more people to lose their jobs, it's almost an epidemic people losing their jobs left and right.

Char, ditto when it comes to the price of gas.

Very cute what the girls wrote to their Dad.

Emc, some people have no clue as to what they are doing.Hopefully the inspector will them.

It feels great in our house so nice and cool.

Will make the icing for it in a bit.

I called the building inspector this morning. The neighbour behind us, who brought in all that dirt last fall, started to build a retaining wall this weekend. Well, he is using Allan blocks, which is great...BUT he is not staggering them...just stacking them on top of each other. Plus no footing..and he is going to add about a 4 ft fence on top of that. There is sand sifting thru already to our side. The old fence is still up, but the idiots nailed some 2 x 4's to the bottom of it to keep the sand on their side. We do not plan on keeping that fence up there when they get their wall finished. Oh geez Louise...learn to build things properly before you start stuff like that. So anyhow, we are quite concerned that this will end up falling into our yard eventually! No way that wall will stay standing when they are not staggered or anything. The inspector is supposed to stop by this morning.

Got a few things to do today. I want to get a perogy lasagna into the freezer for this weekend. We are going up to Sheridan Lake to our friends place. We will park our trailer in their yard. I said I would bring up supper for Saturday night. Our neighbours are planning on coming up as well.

Other than that, just puttering along here. Will read the posts in a bit.

Re: Canadian Corner 06/23/09

Marilyn I am right with you

I just came in from mowing and I am wet, wet, wet. I'll have to move when the air kicks on because it blows right down on me. Brrr with wet clothes. I can't get them off as wet as they are.

Did you see where I asked why my bread falls when I put it in the oven? It tastes good and all it just falls. We eat it but I would like it to look pretty. We bought some from an Amish or Mennonite store and it was so light & fluffy.

Dolores, I'm sorry about your Mom. My Dad had a stroke and lived for 9 years. Of course he was just 62 when he had his. I hope she gets to go to a nursing home instead of being sent home on her own. My Mom wouldn't even consider moving in with us. She was right next door so we let her stay there.

Well, I'm cold now so I'll finish reading later. LOL
