However it is nice in the winter to have a sunny kitchen.

We did not get the rain we needed brother farmer did so he needed it more than we town folks. We have a breeze tonight and another warm day tomorrow promise.

I did walk down town to the library and got some books that will be good for a sunny day outside. Some cold grape tang ( it has the most calcium ) for fake drinks--LOL

and no shoes and dog and book and maybe a hat and I will have a perfect day- grand daughter wanted me to travel with her 80 miles to a house picnic but some how my idea sounds so much cooler and I can put my feet anywhere I want too- I do not make good company- on a hot day.

Have a great Thursday and I will try to come in earlier.

Allegiance to Home Province
Those who answered this Angus Reid Strategies survey were asked where in Canada they would prefer to live, with the same income they currently have in their home province. The question intended to gauge how people felt about the possibility of moving, and two provinces—located on either end of the country—emerged as the clear winners. More than 70 percent in British Columbia and Newfoundland and Labrador say they would stay where they are. The numbers show that residents of New Brunswick (55%), Alberta (52%), Ontario (51%) and Manitoba (45%) appear more open to the possibility of relocating. BC is clearly the first choice for those who would move, and is regarded as an attractive destination by 22 percent of Albertans, 17 percent of Ontarians, and 16 percent of Manitobans. Eight percent of Nova Scotians would prefer to live in neighbouring Newfoundland and Labrador, and four percent of New Brunswick residents would give Quebec a try. Ontario is attractive for five percent of respondents in its two neighbouring provinces—Manitoba and Quebec—but garners lower numbers elsewhere.

Re: Canadian Corner 06/24/09

well, I did babysit, and it was for 1 1/2 hours. It wasn't worth my time, and I wont do it again! Oh well. I've baked my bread, did more cleaning, that job just never ends, I need YF here! I took the kids to the library as I was out of books too. I think I will BBQ some drumsticks and make a marinated pasta salad. I want to bake, but have no eggs, might just have to run out to the farm.

On the way home -- sky is blue and no clouds -- and I'm playing the oldies on the radio -- ancients to you Char -- and I am whisked right back to my teen years -- remembering going outside to lay in the sun -- not for long because we lived on a farm and we did not have a lot of free time -- with a little transisitor radio -- remember those? aaaahhh the reminiscing was so good -- I cannot tell you.

Now I should head outside and enjoy some more oldies -- although I cannot always get this channel on the radio -- car yes but at home iffy -- do like the one on the cable channel -- but have also done away with that except for in the bedroom -- but not to fret-- I have many oldies CDs -- they almost give them away at garage sales and I love them -- AND -- now I will be sitting in the shade -- cannot sit in the sun -- unless I'm weeding -- or I start to get real antsy. --- Picture that!! LOL

Char, I saw where you had posted before about some herbal stuff. I had looked it up, but said it's not recommended with endometreosis. From what I have seen in the ultrasound pictures, this guy is gonna be long legged.

So far, the rain is holding off. However it is still really cloudy and muggy out. I was hoping to get some laundry done today, but will wait for the sunshine tomorrow (if it shows). I don't want to turn the dryer on, if I don't have too.

I just went to check on the garden and strawberries and was chased back in by all the mosquitos. I think they are out for some fresh blood!

YF, yea, it's near the weekend, gas prices soaring. We are at $109 now.

Anica, with all the privacy rules, it sounds like it could be hard to even see your own record! Glad you got that straightened out.

YF!!!! About the time you shouted so darn loud, is when Zack came running to our bedroom, sheesh woman, your scaring the little kids with your ruckus!

Cathy, have you been taking anything for preparing for the birth? When I was in my last six weeks, I started taking some stuff from the healthfood store. I can't remember the name, but you start it in the last six weeks, is slowly suppose to help things along, and help to shorten the labour and help your tissues to soften to lessen the tearing and such. Its a mixture of herbs, red raspberry is in it also, and I think black cohash. Whatever it was, I swear by it! I had the shortest ever labour, never tore, and it was really easy compared to anyone else. I took it with all three kids, and all of them were about four hours of labour, well, not counting the first two hours where you question wether it is labour or not, LOL. And don't believe the doctors prediction. My doctor predicted 8 pounds, and DD was 6 1/2.

Dolores, how long of a drive is it to where your mom is? Are your roads busy now with tourists?

Pat, enjoy the visiting!

Marilyn, I might have to try your bean recipe, as DH likes pickled beans, and I havent been very sucessful with them so far.

Aleida, my goodness, you've got the life! You sound like my parents! And when the morning is cool, they go into their big greenhouse, that has a small bistro table and chairs, and have coffee in there! LOL. First time my mom did that, my dad thought she'd gone crazy. Then one morning, she caught him drinking his coffee in the greenhouse, and so he had to admit it was actually quit nice! I think it's funny. But their deck is still in the shade in the morning. Personally, if I go in that greenhouse, and the cuke hasn't been picked, it's gonna mysteriusly disapear, and I'm gonna eat the first cuke of the year!

Okay, that is Char's novel for June 24. 3 more months, and I will be 34 years old! Oh yippee, do I get presents???? Doubt it

Re: Canadian Corner 06/24/09

Good morning -- by now you're probably thinking that I slept in -- NOT. I got up after the 6 a.m. news and made coffee and then came here to do my thing when DH said "Let's sit outside to have our coffee." Don't have to ask me twice -- I love doing that. That was a relaxing hour and then we decided to water the plants since it will be another hot -- without rain-- day today -- that takes 1 - 2 hours. And while I did that, DH planted most of the remaining annuals that we had bought. I've had my bath, made a second pot of coffee and had some of the bread I baked yesterday. -- noudder -- recipe is coming -- probably today.

We intend to do the farmer's market in Gravenhurst today and then DH will be golfing men's night -- I'll have to pick him up tonight. I don't intend to weed today but I will drag out the rest of my stepping stones, gardent ornaments, lights and wind chimes. Yup -- I think gramma said it -- by the time I'm done, frost should be here. LOL

So now I'll read the posts and see what's up

I agree Maria, Char, that recipe sounds awesome. Yes DH is passionate about his golf. He isn't a sit down kind of person like his DW. Boots is behaving fine -- Luke is not -- he needs more work and I'm not sure how to go about it. He still seems to wander to the neighbours. I had to put him inside twice yesterday while I worked outside -- a shame really. And last night he got up on the counter again and snitched some food -- he hasn't done that in a long time. Into his cage for that -- although can he realize that that was a consequence of bad behaviour -- possibly because I kept showing the leftover piece of food and saying NO!!

I hate the price over a dollar also -- joined Costco and their gas is usually about 4 cents cheaper -- but Costco is in Barrie and can't go there just for gas. LOL

Hi Anica -- how do things like that happen. With the Costco membership I am supposed to be able to get cheaper insurance so I will have to look into that soon. Thanks on the picture complement. I intend to post some more today.

Heh -- Maria you shouted -- but I was long awake.

Cathy sure hope you get the sun for the strawberries -- that's how they were here last year and we picked them at a farm and paid for them -- when I tasted one while cleaning them -- yuck!!

Hi Dolores -- you sound to be at where I am -- weeding, watering and planting. Enjoy your day

Hi Pat -- computer box -- cute -- have a nice day in Winnipeg.

Good morning Marilyn. Have fun with the baby today.

well time for my second cup of coffee -- wondered last night if I was listless because I had had no coffee in the middle of the afternoon -- only one in the morning -- that could be why. I'll have to sort of watch that. Don't like feeling like that -- want to have more enthusiasm for whatever I decide to do.

welcome to Meme

Another beautiful day today. No yard or garden work to do.Got it all done the last 2 days. I do need to check cucumbers & squash. That's all we have coming in right now. Oh some green onions too. They said the humidity won't be as high today but the temps will.

We get baby Munchkin today. They are taking Conner to the movies.

Cathy, I didn't see you yesterday so here are the recipes I posted for you the other day.

Cathy, I don't have a recipe for the cucumbers. Just mix sour cream & vinegar together until it tastes just like you want it. Peel & slice the cucumbers and onions, put salt on them. Later drain the water off and add to the sour cream mixture.

Dilly Beans

2 lbs. green beans ( if you use straight ones, they stand in the jar better.)

4 cloves garlic

2-1/2 cups vinegar

2-1/2 cups water

1/4 cup canning salt

4 heads dill

1 tsp. cayenne pepper (or sliced hot peppers)

pinch of alum in each jar

Pack fresh green beans lengthwise in jars. Add 1 head of dill, alum,1/4 tsp cayenne pepper and garlic in each jar. Combine water, vinegar and salt and bring to boil. Pour over beans leaving 1/4" head space. Seal and process pint or quarts 10 minutes in boiling water bath. Let stand at least 2 weeks before using.
