Good morning everyone cool 38º out this morning snow was predicted but happily did not happen.

Leave it to those Finns to mess up a good thing separate sauna areas for men and women what a bummer. LOL

Lusi the lady would come in every day and read her news paper I think she conversed with me mainly to use her English skills, I thought the news paper was odd as she was the only one I ever seen do that. I have noticed here in the states hotels use dry saunas witch I hate I really do not know what benefit you can get from them setting in your own sweat.

Pat made it to bingo alright but did not win anything she had a good time with her friends there and they do not allow smoking in the bingo hall. What was bothering me was she stays overnight at her brothers and he smokes but she has been very good about this so far.

Shirley glad to hear that Sal is doing well prayers will still be going his way and I also hope he can change his life style.

I am glad it is Friday hope nothing comes up today so I can sleep in tomorrow with the light rain I could have turned over and slept some more this morning very easily.

Good morning everyone had a nice day yesterday had a training period with the night shift early in the morning but not much done after that.

Had the oil changed in my truck after work and got a tire fixed for the golf cart. When I got home I made 3 more batches of roasted pumpkin seeds and watched some TV a man here at work gave me a DVD to watch (Dec. 21, 2012 History’s Final Day) interesting but not something I would dwell on to much.

Pat was at bingo and it was kind of nice to have that one night alone to do anything or nothing depending on how you feel.

Lusi I laughed about your sauna episode as it brought back my first time running into this in Sweden. After being around it for a spell it was rather relaxing but still felt odd when a woman from Stockholm would come in every morning and read the news paper and carry on a very nice conversation with me in good English.

Barb we have a lot of people here that come to work sick they say they need the money and can’t afford to take time off and with the economy the way it is they are deathly afraid of loosing there jobs.

Good morning everyone I passed all my tests at the doctor’s office and he even gave me an EKG test just to make sure, said it could be a pinched nerve and to go back to the chiropractor if it still gives me trouble. I asked about the bike ride and he said to go for it but get myself ready in the next 8 months to do it. He is a real nice doctor they live just down the road from use and we meet sometimes when walking he and his wife have both lost a great deal of weight I rather like that as my last doctor was very overweight and had bypass surgery several times guess it’s a mind thing.

DW is feeling better every day she is going to bingo to night first time since this all started she has been doing some leg and upper body exercises I laid out for her and she said she feels stronger. SHE STILL IS NOT SMOKING!!!!!!! But I catch myself looking for signs of it everyday wish I could get over that feeling, maybe time will put a stop to that.

I posted a couple of recipes yesterday on the RTR both are really good but sorry to say the Pumpkin muffins are not to healthy maybe someone can look at it and suggest a healthier way of doing them. The roasted pumpkin seeds are great can never make enough of them as the girls eat them as fast as they are made I make hot ones for myself as they seem to stay out of them. LOL

Sue wish your dad a happy birthday from all of use and prayers are going out for your coworkers little daughter please keep use informed how she is doing.

Shirley sorry to hear that Sal’s surgery was postponed prayers will be going his way daily and for you also that things will settle down in your life.

Marti I hope you were able to get to the Mt’s. we are having the traditional roast turkey for Thanksgiving along with a ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, string bean casserole, jell-o fluff and some type of finger foods my DD usually brings. DW informed me that she would be making the gravy this year as I did not make enough last year and I make mine with the giblets how was I to know that some people do not eat giblet gravy? LOL

Sorry I can not respond to everyone they seem to be having a problem on the floor I must look into.

Good morning everyone hope you are all feeling better I have a doctor appointment for this afternoon just a checkup since you all insisted. LOL

DW went to the heart doctor yesterday and everything is coming along fine there just renewed one of her meds and told her to come back in 6 months, now that I write that it doesn’t seem right need to check that with her as she went alone to this meeting.

Pat I cut peeled and diced the pumpkin into 1 ½ inch cubes and then steamed them then pressed them through a ricer worked great just a lot of work for what you get.

With Kenny’s seeds you might start 3 of them in a glass with paper towels stuffed in it so he can see them start sprouting then start one hill in the garden next spring let it get 3 or 4 pumpkins started but pinch off any other buds that come on and cut back wandering vines.

We have high winds this morning with some moisture falling really feels cold out but weather man says this is about normal for this time of year.

Pat and I have somehow been volunteered to make Thanksgiving dinner again this year I thought we were taking turns but I like the leftovers anyway, so far we have 15 people coming over might be a few more showing up later in the day should be fun.

Shirley I hope your eye is doing better today so you can get back with the ladies at the water aerobics classes I really think it would help if you socialized more. JMHO Prayers going out for Sal sounds like he is rather young to be having this type of problem or is there other things involved.

Lusi driving the truck was one of the reasons DD wanted me to join them as they need 3 or more riders to get a vehicle pass that way if someone gets tired they can drive and the others can ride bike, also it is a lottery drawing for how gets to ride but if just one in the team gets drawn then the whole team is in, sounds like it will be fun.

Jo Ann I hope you are feeling better today I don’t think I could do my office if I was feeling sick, the next day I couldn’t find anything.

JoLynn prayers going your way for your mother and that you get the paperwork straitened out soon.

Good morning everyone had a nice weekend worked 6 hrs. Saturday but was home by 9am and finished another hot antenna so felt good.

DW has been doing really well with her BS yesterday it was normal in the morning and in the afternoon so changing time of medicating has helped a great deal.

We had so many pumpkins this year I got the brainstorm to puree and freeze them for the coming year, well let me tell you it is a lot of work think we did about half of them got 8 pts. and told Pat to forget the rest we could buy canned cheaper. LOL We did make a batch of Pumpkin muffins that are great I must remember to post the recipe when I get home also have 2 quart bags of seeds to roast will be doing that this evening I hope.

We got 250 bushel of corn transferred to the corn bin in the basement but the weather has been so warm that we have not tried starting it yet, but were ready.

JoLynn so sorry to hear that your mother is sick good that she is getting better prayers will be said for her. I hope you can get the farm paper work appealed they make things so complicated that it takes a lawyer to fill it out.

My DD has given me a challenge for next summer her and oldest GS have signed up to ride bikes across Iowa, 443 miles in 7 days this is with a tour group they both want me to join them I really got to think about this one. LOL

Barb, Maureen and I think Pat, too, you get the snow globe award for the first signs of winter. I know most of us will be joining you soon, but so far, we're still having a great extended Fall season. Sunny day, here with temps in the 60s today. DH is happy to have another day outside doing the rest of Fall clean up and I know Tom's planning on using part of th day to enjoy a ride on his mororcycle. I hope he takes a ride here this afternoon.

Good morning everyone and a Happy Birthday to Maureen sorry its late seems to be my forte any more.

Pat went to the doctor yesterday and DD was with her taking notes as I could not make it. Pat liked the doctor so that’s a thumbs up they did a great deal considering it was her first visit. He raised her thyroid medication and put her back on 10 units of insulin but she must take it by 8 in the morning, he also put her back on blood pressure medication and was rather surprised that they did not have her on an antibiotic so there running more tests and she goes back in a month. She must keep a daily journal on her BS reading to take back with her next month also. She still is not smoking and I cleaned her car out and hosed it down with Frebreez that helped the last time and she is still doing the weights and I think it is helping.

The chiropractor took care of my sore nick and I did not go to the doctor as my BP tests come back 122/70 at home and 122/80 at his office so if that’s good nothing to worry about right?

Lusi keep up the good work I have lost 1 lb. this past week have noticed that my portion sizes have gotten larger again with DW doing the cooking again must watch that very carefully but I have gotten off the hot chocolate every morning that I was doing everyday.

Sue sounds like one of those hectic days for you hope things are better today and I pray that your dad is alright. Watch it with the iron tablets if you take to much it can hurt your liver function at least that is what I have read.

Shirley loved the sight you posted and that your relative’s home became part of the historical area do you remember this house from years ago. Glad to see you are feeling a little better and that you are getting out with other people keep doing that I think it will help with the depression also. I think what you are doing with the computer is good for you keeps your mind active and love the idea of having DH picture on there I keep a picture of DW on my night stand do people think that is odd?

Verna I hope your hand feels better today I get those twinges in my hands at time they really hurt and ditto on the twit statement. LOL

Julie glad to see you had the tooth pulled if it is not noticeable I don’t think I would spend the money to put in transplant but then I’m very cheep.

Good morning everyone were was everyone yesterday not much going on.

We had some excitement yesterday on the floor the FBI came in and arrested one of are workers for 2 armed robberies that have occurred in the area. Was rather funny in away because 2 girls on the floor had watched Most Wanted on TV Sunday night and thought this guy looked like him so one of them called it in.

Well I was off on Pat going to the doctor yesterday when I called her to make shire she made it on time she informed me it was Thursday not Wednesday another sign. LOL

Jo Ann I hope you had a nice time with your mother is she feeling good about were she is at now I hope she understands that you and your sister can not be there all the time. I think older people’s time clock gets messed up time passing is not relevant my dad was that way.

Lusi sounds like you are doing well the water exercise is very good and cutting the sugar intake has got to help keep up the good work.

Pat were is Dale at in MN is this a relatives farm sounds like it must be in the Sothern part of the state think that is were most of the Amish are located farm kids are different I remember milking cows by hand at age 4.

Shirley I hope you are feeling better this morning you might heed Barbs advice on getting checked for kidney infection the chills are what Pat had when she first started getting sick take care of yourself. Prayers will be said for Jim and Flo also I hope things turn out all right for the both of them.

Barb I ended up at the chiropractor yesterday also and he put me back together again I tried one that used the THUMPER years ago but never got anything from it this guy twists my whole body around so that you can hear the joints popping back into place. LOL He also took my blood pressure test 122/70 just in case and said with that type of pain if in dought to get checked by a doctor.

Verna sounds like you and DD had a good day getting things in place and having a nice lunch. Think your window trim will be on hold. DDiL bought some beautiful brown swade material for there bedroom curtains and let me tell you it is a pain in the keyster sewing it. Have one set done hopefully will finish the other one by Saturday.

Verna I sent you some ideas on the Orange bread problem it looks like has way to much time in the oven also 60 to 70 min. I would think more like 45 to 55 min. in my opinion.

Julie I hope everything goes well with the dentist and good luck on starting the job on Friday.

Good morning everyone feeling a little punkey this morning not really sick but left shoulder and stiff neck going along with it will be seeing chiropractor tomorrow.

Head of the department was at a meeting with corporate last week and gave use an outstanding report, even in these bad times we were the only ones that exceeded are goals for the 5 year plan. Also found that they have acquired a company that makes Omni antennas, witch are the ones I work on, that will take some of the pressure off me only problem is, it’s in England so we will see how things work out.

Shirley good to hear from you I think Holly should say something to somebody that setup douse not sound right.

Marti I hope things went well for you and Joe and that you can have some fun with Randi Jo she is at an age were she might keep you hopping good luck.

Sue vent away that is the feeling I get with Pat at times so I know were your coming from.

Lusi good to hear you have work for this week at least will keep you busy. Sounds like you are very resourceful but I imagine you need to be with Leo being gone so much over the years.

Barb thanks for the heads up on the book will be going to the library soon.

Jo Ann just about all my family live up in N Minnesota so the meat is used by all of them through the winter. There are 7 families there and some of there kids are starting families of there own so it adds up to a lot of people. I always compare them with the Beverley Hillbillies they raise horses for rodeo events and live off the land mostly when we go up for a visit they will drop whatever they are doing and take use out fishing, hunting or whatever is going on in the area at the time. They seem to live by a much different set of priorities than most people but they also seem to be much happier.

Jo Lynn they hunt Whitetail deer in MN Mule deer are further West out in the badlands of ND.

Marti I hope DDiL is doing alright how bad did she get hurt prayers going out for her and you and Joe also. Would be glad to do your windows also, got to thinking about this last night and found it odd that there are 5 women and 2 men in this household and I am the only one that knows how to sew. Are they taking advantage of my good disposition? LOL

My DS mother-in-law works at a exterminators place doing paperwork and Wednesday the owners daughter that works there died from on known causes and then Friday the owner said his shoulder was hurting so he took a heating pad and laid down for a rest, they found him there died of a heart attack.

Healthy Choices Weekender November 7-8, 2009

Good morning everyone,

It looks like it will be another nice Fall weekend, here. Sunny and temps in the 60s, we can't ask for more than that in November. :)

Good news for us, Ken called and asked if we would pick up the trips from the school bus, yesterday. It was so nice seeing them after so long. They looked as though they grew two inches and Gabi is letting her hair grow long. She looks so cute. The trips were so happy to see us and we all had such a nice time. Hope we'll be getting more time together. The trips didn't want to go home. When their DD came to pick them up, they asked if they could spend the night with us. LOL

Tonight we baby sit too, but a little bundle of fur. For everyone who has so much fun with their little, or sometimes not so little pets, I wish you could see how cute Gizmo is. LOL He's a Papillon and very smart and well behaved. We've watched him before with no problems. He belongs to Tom's friend Laura. So Gizmo will be spending the night here. DH will want to go buy one as soon as he's gone. lol This will be fun.....

Good morning everyone felt much better yesterday when I got home DW was cleaning house and in good spirits. Doctor has lowered her insulin shot down to 5 units and her BS test came out at 101 that’s the best I’ve seen since she got home has been running 35 for low or 300 for high.

Sue I looked up the 1950’s house you were talking about and its not that far from use also think I will take DW there next spring sounds like it would be fun.

Marti I pray that Joe feels better after being able to get out and do a little around the yard. In just the little time DW has been laid up she started crying one day when I got home stating she is sick of being so weak that it took her all morning just to get the dish washer loaded. She has started doing some leg lifts and arm exercises with 1 lb. weights told her she has not done anything physical since the back operation 2 years ago so it’s going to take time.

Jo Ann glad to see DH got something, I really enjoy doing the leaves with mine one thing I forgot to mention is using the wind to your advantage but your DH will find that out the first time he uses it. LOL Hope you get the OK from Ken on the presents for the trips I just can’t imagine needing to do this for are GK we have them make out a list and then get something from that. Sometimes if it’s a good year we get everything on the list. LOL

Barb I know you had a good time yesterday did you get some good sales I hate to think of doing Christmas shopping DW normally is the one doing this and its not going to happen this year. I used up all my vacation during the last month so do not have any idea when shopping will get done.

Lusi I got a chuckle out of your description of your aunt and your sister sounds like she got her straitened out alright. Hope Leo gets his baggage before he needs to leave Saturday will he hold off until it arrives.

Julie sorry to hear things are not going well for you I hope DH can get on disability SS that might be the best thing for you, prayers going your way.

Good morning everyone must be getting senile as I typed up my post yesterday morning and never posted it, think I will blame it on being to busy, thanks Verna for getting things going.

Lynn I hope you and Kenny feel better today just so much stuff going around lately we are missing about half are people here at work and when we were at the hospital they posted that kids 13 and under would not be allowed in for visiting.

Marti I envy you having all those bulbs that is something I have never done but it sounds like a lot of work. Is Joe feeling any better or is that why you are holding off going to the Mt’s?

Jo Ann I hope you are feeling better today. The leaf blower I got is the Echo backpack model gas operated cost around $250 it is not a vacuum just a blower works great if the leaves are dry. Lusi your new life style really seems to be fitting you very well even your posts sound more relaxing if that makes sense.

Good morning everyone was a real nice day yesterday sun shine and warmer then what we had in October this is November right?

DW is doing better but still rather weak seams to forget things more than she did before wish I could stay home with her more.

DDiL wants me to sew new curtains for Nicole’s bedroom so we finally got the sewing machine out of the Morton building and down stairs might get that done sometime this week or at lest by the weekend.

Marti sorry to hear you are having dental problems seams to be one thing after another any more I hope Joe and you can make it to the Mt’s. sometime before winter sets in.

I think Pat is getting mad at me because if she moans or groans I’m right there asking her if she is alright. LOL

Maureen DW has a problem in that her BS bounces up and down so much gets really low and then she feels sick and sweats like a butcher. The doctor said she should try just the one shot per day to see if it would work with the oral medication but I don’t think its working. The next alternative is the one shot of 10 units at night and then a shot of 2 units at meal times she will need to go back to doctor when the blood work is done to have this setup.

I don’t know what your yard is like but we have open country so I bought an Echo leaf blower backpack model that works great for getting rid of the leaves but I just blow them of into the country side, I think you should get the containers saves so much time. LOL

Verna I hope things turn out for the best prayers going your way for both the arm and finding a good care giver.

Jo Ann your salmon sounds so good I wish Pat would eat more fish I might try this and see if she likes it.

Good morning everyone raining here again this is really getting old would love to see the sun one more time before snow sets in.

Nicole’s Birthday party was a great success and DD even brought out her new boy friend witch we had a good laugh about this as we discovered that DW had worked with him years ago at the children’s home, nice young man but not good enough for MY DD. LOL

Pat was feeling much better during the day and when DD came out she suggested that DW take her insulin shot at bed time instead of at suppertime this would help her get through the night and might clear up the stomach problem.

Jo Ann condolences to you and DSiL may be her sister is lucky in a way, lived a good life and didn’t suffer or need to be in hospital for years hope you are rested now that is a lot of driving.

Mojazz thanks for the substitution sight think everyone can use that some time or another. Thanks.

Marti so sorry to hear you are having insurance problem on top of everything else that is going on in your life. Hate working with insurance company’s its like running around in circles good luck and prayers still going your way for Joe.

Shirley prayers going your way I hope you feel better soon are you taking any depression medication at all might help. What is the picture you have up is that you in younger days?

Goodmorning. Looks like a decent day here for the Trick or Treaters. Our town does not have any kind of kids "event" so the kids still go door to door. With all the crime here in the last year maybe there won;t be too many. We'll see...

Marti, I'm so glad you are feeling better. I bet you did have the H1N1. Around here it's seems to be mostly teens and children who get really sick from it. A 5 year old just died this week. I hope you can straighten out the medical billing mess. My dad also had the wrong secondary insurance earlier this year but I made copies of the correct insurance card and mailed it back to the doctor or hospital. I never heard about it again. I hope yours is fixed easily.

Hello everyone. I'm vammie now posting under the name vamtx....something got messed up and sometimes even I don't know who I am!

I live in north central Texas close to Dallas. I'm 67 years young. I've been widowed since March 2003. I joined this group sometime after that but Shirley/Groucho and I have been friends longer than that. We met on an internet recipe pen pal group here and found we had much in common. I love to bake and it shows....! I have two children, son and daughter, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. I'm a retired nurse. I have some physical issues that slow me down, but they don't stop me. I'm active in several venues in my church. Have a four legged fur princess named Molly and she's a joy to me.

I think you'll find this group of friends one of the best anywhere. We all love and care about each other. I treasure each friendship here.

A sunny day with a high of 64 here, today and almost 70 tomorrow.

Leaving early for our Thursday with Mom. Dsis and I will take her for her labs, for breakfast, shopping and then back home. I really wish I could stay home today, but Mom's scheduled for labs before her doctor apmt next week. I'm still having tummy problems, so I'm not planning to stay and visit. I'd like to get home as early as I can.

I was hoping to hear from Marti and Viny this morning, but maybe it's just too early.

Morning group...

Its cool here this morning...50s ...but will reach mid 70s by afternoon. But there's no rain which is good. That starts back up tomorrow!

Thanks to everyone for the prayers for Max, the young man I emailed y'all about. Found out from my cousin this morning they started treating him last night for endocarditis. He was also able to eat a little bit, so hopefully he'll start feeling better soon. I will keep y'all posted.

I'm feeling better after my procedure last week, just get tired easily but thats nothing new! I have followups with both docs next week.

Not much else to report this early in the morning. Talk to y'all later.

I looked online and have found dozens of versions. My mom used to make it like 25 years ago, and none of te recipes seemed to be the version she made. Does anyone know the original version?

Good morning everyone PAT is home they released her late last night. The tests show that that area of her heart is dead so there is nothing they can do at the hospital and will control it with oral medication at home.

Thank you all for your prayers hopefully will get back later have much to do today with doctor appointments, buying more medication, and food.
