I really like this cake, but the frosting was a little too sweet for me. I think I will make it the next time without the icing and just put a little Cool Whip on it instead. It is a nice moist cake.

Posted by: jen_lancaster Posted on: 12/31/2004 2:40:37 PM #R4953476 This recipe always gets rave reviews. Mix it with a mixer if you want smaller apple chunks, or mix by hand for larger pieces.

    Apple Coffeecake
    3 eggs
1 30 oz. can apple pie filling (or 1-1/2 smaller cans)
    yellow cake mix (18 oz.)
    1/3 c brown sugar
    1 T. flour
    1 T. cinnamon

Beat 3 eggs and apple pie filling. Add 1 pkg. cake mix. Spread into a 9x13 pan. Combine brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon and sprinkle over cake. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. Drizzle frosting over warm cake.
    Frosting:
2 cups powdered sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1/3 c. melted butter, 2-4 tsp. hot water.

That is not the real name, changed the right one to Heck. Found this in one of those sites someone posted on here and made it. Like Turtle cake only a lot easier and very good.

    HURRICANE FROM HECK CAKE
In the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan place:
    1 stick melted margarine
    1 c chopped pecans
    1 c flaked coconut
    Spread evenly.

    Middle layer"
German sweet chocolate cake mixed according to directions on box.
    Pour over bottom layer

    Set aside and prepare topping.

    Melt over low heat:
    8 oz cream cheese
    1 stick margarine
    Add:
    1 t vanilla
Gradually add 1 box of confectioner sugar untill mixed well.

Spoon thie mixtue over top of batter

Bake 50 to 60 min.(closer to 60 or more so watch it, until the top is bubbly and crusty. The top gets crusty long before the inside is cooked so I used the tooth pick method to make sure it was done.
    Serve in pan.

Better than Almost Anything Cake (Betty Crocker)

1 pkg. Betty Crocker German chocolate cake mix
    1 1/3 c. water
    ½ c. vegetable oil
    3 eggs
14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
16-17 oz. jar caramel, butterscotch, or fudge ice cream topping
8 oz. Cool Whip, thawed (3 cups)
8 oz. bag toffee chips or bits

Heat oven to 350. Make cake as directed on package. Cool 15 minutes. Poke top of warm cake every ½ inch with handle of wooden spoon ( I think I would use a big fork). Drizzle milk evenly over top of cake; let stand until milk has been absorbed into cake. Drizzle with ice cream topping. Run knife around sides of pan to loosen cake. Cover and refrigerate about 2 hours or until chilled. Spread whipped topping over top of cake. Sprinkle with toffee chips. Store covered in refrigerator
