    Product Review: low carb chips

I have to tell you about a low carb product my sister told me about. They are actually made by Snyder's of Hanover. The label says "eatsmart". They are Soy-Teins. They have two varieties. I got the Parmesan, Garlic & Olive Oil one. They have one that is made of spinach, tomatoes and something else, so they are green, red and white. For one serving (approx. 20 chips), they have 6 g net carbs, 7 g soy protein. They taste really good. She said Walmart and Meijer's both carry them. Meijer's has them on sale this week. For a 6 oz. bag, they are marked $3.99. Meijer has them on sale for 2 for $5, but they actually ring up for $1.39 per bag.
They have 160 calories (80 from fat). Total fat - 9 g (saturated fat - 1g, TransFat - 0 g). Zero sugars, so that's good for us diabetics, also.
Just thought I would pass this product review on.

I've seen some low carb chip things at Kroger, but they're always so expensive I would never buy them. The bags are the size of potato chips that come in those snack-size bags and they're like $4 or $5!! No way! But I'll have to get over to Meijers and see if I can get some while they're on sale. Hopefully they'll have a flavor that doesn't include garlic, I can't have it.

Susie - I know what you mean. Since I've started eating less carbs, I've been shopping low carb and it really is amazing how expensive some of he things are.

I'm looking at the back of the bag where it lists the other products. It says "Veggie Crisps" which isn't quite what this is. Then it says "an all natural blend of potato, spinach and tomato flavored chips". But if they are made of potato, I can't imagine they would be low carb. If I go back for more before you make it to the store, I'll be sure to look at the other bag to see if those definitely are low carb.

I've had both flavors of Soy-Teins and love them both. They are well seasoned, not wimpy. I have to portion out my serving and put the bag away or I could eat far more than I should.

Joyce and chefly, Thanks -- can't wait to check them out! I think I'll have to count out 20 chips and put the bag out of reach!

If all of the flavors have garlic, though, I'll have to pass. I'm allergic or intolerant -- or something!

Chefly - that's what I have to do, too. Its hard to stop at just a few.

susie - Like I said, I've only had the parmesan, olive oil and garlic. You would definitely have to stay away from there. You can really taste the garlic. Some chips only have a mild taste, but these don't. I hope you can try the other ones.

I don't have a bag of the Sun-dried tomato variety at home, so I don't know about the garlic, but they are good.

    Joyce,
These are my treat only and my family knows to keep out of them. LOL.

That reminds me-Wise makes these also and they are horrible! They are hard and crunchy and tast like they are burnt! I'll have to try the Snyder's brand. Thanks!
