***Unless otherwise specified, "click on____" it's means to left click that item.

**When you right click, you will get a drop down menu. Scroll to the specified item and left click on it.

If you have not already done so create a folder on your desktop for recipes. To do this, right click on any empty space on your desktop. You will get a drop down menu. Scroll down to New and you will get another dropdown menu, left click on folder. The folder will appear on your desktop. Name the folder recipes. (If you goof and it labels itself new folder, that's ok, just right click on the folder and when the drop down menu appears, left click on rename. Type in new name.)

Open a word processing processing program. (This can be Notepad, Wordpad, MSWord, MSWorks, etc. but I'll just use Wordpad as an example) Now minimize that program by left clicking on the little _ (underscore, minus sign, whatever you want to call it) in the top right corner of the program window. The window will minimize and if you look down at the bottom of your screen in the task bar, you'll see it. Whenever you want to open it again, just click on it and it will restore itself.

Once you minimize Wordpad, go back to your recipe and copy it.
To copy text, hold your left mouse button down and scroll over the text you want to copy to highlight it. When you let go the mouse button the text should be highlighted. Right click in any part of the highlighted area. Then left click on copy.
Now, go down to your task bar and restore Wordpad by clicking on the minimized button. When Wordpad opens to a blank page, on the title bar you'll see File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Help.

    Part 2
Now to save that document without closing Wordpad, go back up to the menu bar and left click on File. Left click on Save As... .

A new window will pop up. The title bar will say Save as, under that it will say Save In My Documents with a little arrow pointing down.
My Documents is the default folder but you want to save it in the recipe folder you made on your desktop. You can click on the arrow and scroll down the list until you see the Recipe folder. Or you can look in that larger window for the Recipe folder and double click it. Either way, just make sure that it now says "Save In: Recipes". Then go down to the bottom of that little window and it will say File name: type in the name of the recipe and left click save.

Now the recipe is saved and you can either close Wordpad or open a new blank document to have available for the next recipe. Just click the icon on the toolbar that looks like a little piece of paper. You might get another popup window asking what kind of document you want to open, select Word 6 (or what ever version you have) Document and click ok.

*****The pasting directions will vary a bit if you're using MSWord or MSWorks. When you click on it, you will see paste and paste special. In these two programs you want to select paste special. A new window will pop up with several choices, select Unformatted Text and click ok.

Using just paste or selecting the html format will give take longer for the text to appear and it will appear in the font style and color of the webpage (along with pasting the hidden html code that you don't need or want).

These basic directions will work for anything you want to copy from one page or document into another document.

I'm glad that you asked this question. I didn't know how to save the recipes to a file, either.
