Do You Make Your Own Wine? I Have a Question

We started making some wine. All is going fine but we can't seem to get a red wine stain out of the inside of the car boy. The neck is so narrow and we do have a brush long enough to get inside. I tried baking soda and that didn't work so I mixed in some vinegar and that didn't work. Is there a secret solution that I could try? I thought of coarse salt but haven't tried that yet. Does anyone know of a better technique? GM

Do you have a glass or plastic carboy? If it is plastic it might not come out.

For glass you can use a mild bleach solution or go to a wine making or brew shop and get the sterilization stuff. Both will need several rinses after using.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. I forgot to mention that the car boys are the extra large glass ones. GM

Granma, What kind of wine did you make?

I use to raise muscadine grapes in my back yard and I made wine. I had four vines and the root stock came from Geogia. The four were Carlos, Cowart and Delight with a Scuppernong. The Delight was very large and sweet. Each time I made the wine it turned out to be a very potent drink. The alcohol in it made it more like a sipping brandy. Of course I didn't mind. I sure loved the taste but it was a sweet wine.
