JELLO is only KoolAid and Gelatin

Does anyone know what the ratio is.
How much KoolAid - How much Gelatin.

Saw this on tv and would like to try making my own instead of spending money on Jello. Just for fun.

    Inquiring minds want to know.

Home-made Jello – from Alice Faber

(For anyone with a sensitivity to aspartamane)

    1 envelope unflavored gelatin.
1/2 envelope unsweetened Kool-Aid, in the flavor of your choice
    3/8 cup + 1 tsp Splenda
    1 cup boiling water
    1 cup cold water

Prepare as you'd expect (dissolve gelatin, Splenda, Kool Aid in boiling water; stir in cold water; divide into 4 little dishes; chill overnight).

The flavor isn't quite as intense as that of packaged Jello. I have a feeling though that a whole packet of Kool-Aid would be too much.

There would have to be some sugar in there, too!

I've never heard of making your own flavored gelatin, but I suppose it's possible.

years ago when I went to WW we made jello with a can of diet soda and a knox geletan packet.
boiled 1 c and added a packet and then added 1 c room temp soda.

tangy and sweet! root beer was a fav.

Better yet, forget the Koolaid, and use unflavored gelatin and fruit juice to make a healthy gelled dessert for your family. Works just fine, and will be so much better for them than giving them congealed chemicals.

I was going to suggest what Roselle did. Get Knox unflavored gelatin, and mix up jello with real juice.

Not always, Rebecca. You could get vegetable gelatin. Then it's seaweed and sugar!
