    ISO Bar recipe

I have to make a dessert for potluck at work tomorrow. Does anyone have a bar recipe using a German Chocolate Cake Mix or any other good bar recipe that is chocolate(the girls at work have requested chocolate).
Thanks for all of your help.

I haven't made this, but it sounds good:

    German Chocolate Squares

1 German chocolate cake mix with pudding in the mix
    1/3 c. vegetable oil
    1 egg
    1 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    1/2 t. salt
    1 c. light corn syrup
1/4 c. butter or margarine, melted
    1 t. vanilla extract
    2 c. chopped pecans
    1 1/2 c. flaked coconut

Combine cake mix, oil and 1 egg in a medium bowl. Stir until well blended. Press mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×13 inch pan. Bake 20 minutes. In a large bowl, beat sugar, 4 eggs and salt until well blended. Beat in corn syrup, melted butter and vanilla. Stir in pecans and coconut. Pour filling over hot crust. Bake 30-35 minutes or until top is lightly browned and center is set. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Cut into 1 1/2 inch squares. Yields about 3 dozen squares.

These are favorite bars that I only make for a special treat. There are many similar recipes with a variety of names.

    TURTLE’S BARS

German chocolate cake mix, made according to package directions
    1 stick margarine
    1 bag caramels
1 can sweetened condensed milk, NOT evaporated
    1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts OR Spanish peanuts (have also used toasted pecans instead of peanuts)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 9 x 13 – inch pan.
Melt margarine, caramels, and sweetened condensed milk.
POUR ½ cake batter into prepared pan. Bake 15 minutes.
SPREAD caramel mixture. Then a layer of chocolate chips, followed by nuts OR peanuts.
POUR remaining cake mixture over the filling.
    BAKE 20 minutes. Cool.
SIFT powdered sugar on top, if desired.
