Am I the only one who READS Cookbooks...well, like *Regular* Books??? :)

    Happy Friday, Folks!

Since I've been doing some research about healthier eating habits the past few weeks, I've been reading quite a few cookbooks.

And, I do mean READ. ;)

So, I'm curious. Any of you folks in the Kitchen READ cookbooks like you read any other kind of book books?

    Have a Happy Day!

No you are not. My DH is amazed at the way I can read a cook book like it's a novel. LOL

You are not alone. I too often read a new one from cover to cover. I did so last weekend.

Even if you never make anything from them, it is amazing what you can learn by reading a cookbook that way.

I do and I thought I was the only one. lololol I have a hugh collection and sometimes I go through all my older ones that my mom and I used to use. It brings back memories of learning how to cook with my mom and all the great times we had. I also have some I have picked up in states where I have been visiting. There are always little notes and sayingms along with a recipe. it gives you a look at the past or how other women cook and what they remember. I am not excluding men here but, some of my cook books are over 60 years old and men were never in the kitchen. Thanks for making my day.
    Have a great weekend;0)

It sure seems as if I'm not the only one. Not only that but I'm in good company! ;)

I too read from cover to cover. I go to the library and check out every new cookbook available. If I like what I see. I go buy it and read it all over again.

I always read my cookbooks! I have LOTS of cookbooks and certainly haven't used recipes from each and every one -- but I can dream.

    Tootie

I do the same thing!!! I figure if I don't like the cookbook from the Library then I certainly won't like it if I were to buy it.

Saves me lots of $$$ and *precious* CookBook space! ;)

    Same here, Brenda!

I don't use recipes all that often (except if I'm baking something) but I sure do love to read them!

Nope, cookbooks are my favorites to read. I mark recipes to try with little strips of "post-it" notes. My cookbooks look like little porcupines with all the paper sticking out.

Fun, educational and relaxing - what more could you ask for.

Yes...absolutely! I need to join a book club where they do reviews and serve refreshments! All made of course from the cook book that we review that month...wouldn't that be great fun? I collect cook books and love to sit and read them over and over!
I have quite a few that I inherited from my Mom, she sued to purchase cook books for her souvenirs when she traveled!
I'm always telling DH that I need to go through, select my favorites and down size my collection and he says, "NO WAY!" He also enjoys them!

It nice to know that I have fellow addicted friends! LOL

Thanks so much for this post. Now I can come out and read during the day instead of sitting under covers with a flash light! Just kidding but I do love to READ cookbooks and thought I was alone on this. Suzanne

Just wanted to add that I had a ball when I was Library Director reading the reviews and ordering what ever my heart desired for my patrons! When the cook books arrived it was like Christmas! I miss that aspect of my job so much!

I get at least 3 cookbooks every time I go to the library, and yes, I read them like a regular book.

    I do.
