Doing Happy Dance--Found Rec. "Peanut Butter Lovers' Cake"

ORIGINAL POST:  Lost mine--pretty sure I got it from here.  It is a 2 or 3 layer cake from scratch, and all I can remember is that the egg whites were beaten until stiff before being folded into the batter.  Does anyone have that recipe.  The frosting is also peanut butter flavored - no cream cheese in it as I recall.  It is to die for.

Re: ISO recipe "Peanut Butter Lovers' Cake"

I seem to recall the one that you are requesting and really did think I had copied it but can not seem to find it now.  This is the only one I could come up with on the search that seemed even fairly close.  But it does have cream cheese in the frosting.

    Peanut Butter Lover's Cake
    12-14 servings

    3 large eggs
    1-2/3 c. granulated sugar, divided
    1-1/2 c. milk divided
3 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate, finely chopped
    1/2 c. shortening
    1tsp. pure vanilla extract
    2 c. cake flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt

    Peanut Butter Frosting:
2 ( 8 oz. each) pkgs cream cheese, softened
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk (NOT evaporated)
    1-1/2 c. peanut butter
    1/4 c. salted peanuts, chopped
3(1.55 oz.each milk chocolate candy bars, broken into squares.

Heat oven to 325F. Grease & flour 3 - 9" round baking pans.

In saucepan, whisk 1 egg until blended. Stir in 2/3 cup sugar, 1/2 cup milk & chocolate. Cook & stir over med. heat until chocolate is melted & mixture just comes to a boil. Remove from heat; cool to room temp.

In mixing bowl, cream shortening & remaining sugar. Add remaining eggs, 1 at a time beating well after each. Beat in vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda & salt' alternately add to creamed mixture with remaining milk. Add chocolate mixture; mix well. Pour into prepared pans.

Bake 25-30 mins. at 325F or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 mins. before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.

    Frosting:
In mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until light & fluffy. Gradually add milk & peanut butter, beating well after each addition. Spread between layers& over top & sides of cooled cake. Sprinkle with peanuts. Garnish with candy bars. Store in refrigerator.

    2 cups sugar
    1/2 cup peanut butter
    2/3 cup milk
    1/2 cup shortening
    2 teaspoons vanilla

Combine sugar and peanut butter; add melted shortening and milk.
    Boil 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat; add vanilla and beat until creamy.
If too thick add a little milk.

Re: Doing Happy Dance--Found Rec. "Peanut Butter Lovers' Cake"

Here is another peanut butter cake recipe.. it is oh so easy and oh so good!!!!!!!

1 chocolate cake mix ( I use German chocolate)

    1 large (16oz) sour cream

    3 eggs

Mini peanut butter cups ( I buy the ones from Walmart)

Combine cake mix, large sour cream, and eggs into a mixing bowl. Beat until well mixed. Pour batter into a well greased bundt pan. I poke 15 mini peanut butter cups into the batter and using spatula cover peanut butter cups with the batter. Bake at 350 using the directions on the cake box for bundt pans. Cool in pan on a wire rack.. when cool turn over onto a serving plate.

    Glaze:

    1/2 cup chocolate chips

    1/2 cup peanut butter

    1/2 tsp cooking oil

Heat in microwave for 1 minutes. stir until smooth. Drizzle over cake. If you want to decorate... use Mini M&M's, chopped nuts. red hot candies.... what ever is festive at the time...

It is a very moist cake and does not last long in my house...
