Mom2Mom Recipe Chat! December 31st thru January 6th. **Happy New Year** Everyone Welcome!

    Hello everyone!

I thought I would get us started up tonight so the East Coast Gals can post in the early hours of the morning!

Does everyone have New Years Eve plans? We are staying in and cooking some lobster tails DH received as a christmas gift. I will let you know how they turn out!

I have been reading about New Years Resolutions and some people are quite creative! There are the usual diet and exercise ones and of course in 2008 I hope to be more active.

But one I read today was to try 2 new recipes either from the board or a cookbook a week. I think that is such a good idea. Funny how we can be on a recipe board all the time yet still cook the same 10 dishes. I know I am guilty of it. Although I have really been doing better at tring new recipes, so much that my DH is actually not saying "whats this" when there is something new brewing in my kitchen!

So, what to you hope to accomplish and acheive in 2008?

    Have a great day!

    Redawna

    1. Lose 15 lbs.

    2. Actually finish painting my house and put my painting supplies away for at least 3 years...............  that is a hard one.

    3. Take my business ideas and DO SOMETHING with them.......................finally.

    4. Plant some new flowers this year and get at least 50 % more production from my veggie garden this year.

    5. Continue to be....................

    Cool

And of course there are all my hopes and dreams for my family but that is that start of the short list for myself.

Oh, and to learn how to meditate or something, I need to channel my stress so I don't get those stomach pains.

Okay, sorry to bore you all! lol

    just some mindless typing!

    good morning,

We are heading to the laundry mat today. Then I think today or tomorrow I'm going to Micheal's to cheak out the left over holiday sales this is the first year we havn't had a Christmas wreath up and it bugged us. , while DH goes a few stores over to the office place to get more paper and ink so we can start doing school again.

I've gotta say though I'm kind of looking forward to wednesday to get things back to normal.

    Happy New year to everyone.

    Good morning Redawna & Amy,

Thanks for starting us off Redawna. I think you have a fine list of resolutions and didn't bore me a bit. In fact very ambitious. My list is short.

    1. Do some volunteer work

    2. The usual, eat better, exercise more

    3. Finish reading the Bible

    4. Fix some of my old favorites instead of experimenting so much...lol. Just kidding

    5. I'm borrowing this one from Michelle~ Break one New Years Resolution. (thanks Michelle, give me an out on just 1)

Off to Walmart this morning. Running very low on kitty stuff, they're getting nervous.

Hope you all have a nice day. Hugs~

Hi all and Happy New Year's Eve!  Any big plans for the day?  We don't usually do anything really late, but I would like to make something fun for dinner and then we will just watch football or a movie.  Nothing major!

Let's see... I went looking back through last week's posts a little....

Cathy- how's your dad?  How are you feeling?

Happy Anniversary Amy and DH!!  (Bummer on your washer!)

Becky Ann- how did your Friday dinner go?  Your menu sounded wonderful! By the way, the roasted vegie dip is an Alton Brown recipe and I'll post it later.

Yeah Jillie on finding a little black dress!

Nancy- I'm not sure what show inspired DH with the scallops.  The beef loin was part Alton and part Tyler. And yes, the boys each ate two scallops (we made two per person because they were so big).  How are you feeling?

Julie- how are your grandmother and DH's mother?  That's alot of teens- the griddle sounds great for a yummy breakfast for them.

((Oh Michelle))-- how's your back today?  And your sister drama?  Take care!

Hi Cyndi and Nonny- good to see you both!  Cyndi- what's TSO?  Have fun!

    Welcome amrosend!

Terri- how was the trip to your sisters?  What's the weather there today?

Belinda- a new camera sounds fun.  Is DD feeling better?

    cont...

Redawna- thanks for starting us off again, and interesting list of "resolutions".  I'll have to think on some things.  By the way, habaneros are $9.99 a pound here.  For the recipe do I want bright orange, dark orange, big/little, are they hotter the darker???  How much hotter is this than with jalapenos?  Thanks for the help!

Waving hi to some of the gals I'm missing- like Charlene and Sassy and Sue, etc.  I hope that everyone is getting through the holidays fine.

We had a nice weekend- no more drama in the kitchen.  DH and his folks didn't make it to the funeral on Friday- the roads were too bad.  So we didn't even try to get to my brother's for the wedding on Saturday.  My mother said it turned out nice- but some parts were very different!  Like, the colors were black and bright pink.  Or the cartoon characters figurine the couple wanted to put on the wedding cake.  LOL  I was sad to miss it, but didn't want to risk the roads...

Well, it is payroll today, and I have a bunch of errands to run for work.  Not to mention a few for us!  Take care all, and have a great day!

    Blessings, Ellie

Hi Amy, Jill , Cyndi & Ellie!

I hope everyone has a great last day of 2007!

Ellie, I only have the small Habaneros here, they were a nice bright orange. You don't need to many for the recipe. It is not that hot a jelly and I find it more flavorful then the jalapenos. It is wonderful! Sorry you missed the wedding.

No big plans for the day. DH is working, not such if it is a full or half day? Hopefully half!~

    Going to read now.

    Have a great day everyone!

Hi Friends, Thanks Redawana for starting us off.

Yum on the lobster tails! I don't usually make resolutions but trying new recipes for 2008 is a plan.

Amy, Hope you find some great Christmas sales. I just love Christmas decorations. Happy Belated AnniversarySmile

    Hi Jilliebean!

Cyndj, It's difficult to see friends move away and not only that, helping them clean up and move. Speaking of cleaning up I've continued my never ending attic project (AGAIN). I did get rid of alot of bags and boxes of things and can't understand why I've held on to certain items. Came across a pair of materninty pants and 4 more maternity tops so I'm glad I got busy up there.

Ellie, It's great that the boys eat scallops not many kids will try seafood. You've been quite busy as usual I don't see 2008 slowing down any lol. Never seems to when you have children. I'm feeling good thank you for asking. Went for an ultrasound last week and it was funny because the baby stuck it's tounge out a couple of times.

No New Years Plans for us, just going to hang out. Never been a fan of New Years and I feel that we don't need to be on the roads w/ drunk drivers.

I wanted to take down the tree a few days ago but DD wants it up until tomorrow. It does look pretty and kids do enjoy Christmas so what the hey.

Can't think of much else that's going on. Just doing some laundry and as usual straightening up around here.

Happy New Year to all of you if I don't get a chance to get back on.

    Hugs,

    NancySmile

Happy New Year's Eve! Redawna As far as I know no plans for us. As far as Resolutions I want to get somewhat organized this year. Amy Did you find a wreath? Jill Your welcome. I am adding that one too. I had to make a Wal-Mart run this morning too but for cold medicine. Cyndi Enjoy your night out. I hope yall have a great time. Ellie My back is some better. Still sore but I have to keep on ticking. I think the habanero around here is way hotter than a jalapeno. Nancy Did they do a 3-D ultersound? Is DD getting excited? Hey Belinda! How are you today? Not to much going on today. Just cleaning and washing. I hope you each have a wonderful day today. Hugs, Michelle

HI everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR

Ellie -thank you for asking about my family. My Grandmother is doing so much better but now the nursing home she is in is locked down due to the flu - so I can't go see herSad and yesterday she turned 96. God Bless her. My Mother in Law came home from the hospital yesterday and as far as we know ... they still don't know what the problem was but she is ok to go home.

Hope everyone has a safe New Years Eve -see you all next year!

Hi again, We just got home from our friends house around the corner. We had dinner there and then afterwards we played Scrabble. I'm lucky if I can stay awake for 1 more hour as I'm not a night owl.

Michelle, If you want to get something organized you can come over and help me w/ the attic lol. Will the boys stay awake for midnight? Although I wanted one, I didn't do a 3D pic of the baby as I'm 24 weeks and was afraid that it might be a bit early yet so I told them not to. We did get a side profile of the babys face.

Julie, How nice to still have your Grandmother I wish I had known mine. Hopefully they can't get the flu situation under control. Glad your MIL is back home.

    Hugs,

    NancyParty!!!
