    TIA

Mary - Look for crabby appleton's threads, she is on it. I believe she said a few days into it, cigs will taste horrible and you won't want to out one in your mouth. Good luck!

Happy Friday Morning to you, Mary!

I'm glad to see you've received your prescription for Chantix as I recall you were interested in possibly using it to quit smoking.  GOOD FOR YOU!!! Yes

I'll be Smoke-Free for *ELEVEN* months on January 19th.  I started taking Chantix at this time last year and had my last cigarette on February 18th after smoking 2-3 packs a day for almost 30 years.

The only difficulty I experienced while I was taking Chantix was increased flatulence Embarrassed.  However, Tums seemed to help with that.  I also had some very *vivid* dreams but in a GOOD way.  I'll just leave it at that. Wink

In any case, the only other suggestions I can share which helped me...Stay busy, drink a LOT of water, and if need be, avoid the computer and the phone~~~those were my two BIG smoke triggers so I avoided them as much as possible.

My BEST WISHES to you, Mary!

Hello Mary, I started on Chantix last Monday and my quit date will be this Monday. It is expensive and my insurance wouldn't help pay for it, So please shop around I found it for $120 for the first month.

I have 2 phone buddies that have been smoke free for months due to Chantix and it helps talking to them.

I have 2 side effects that I was hoping I wouldn't get, Vivid dreams not the good kind I am sorry to say and headaches. I know I can do this so I am prepared to battle on.

I am hoping I can do this and not have to refill the 2nd month as my friends did, It's not the money because look how much we will be saving in the long run.

I drink a lot of iced tea because I am not a water drinker, So good luck my friend.

    Hugs, Ann

You mean, I could be smoke free in one month with the Chantix??? I am "mentally" getting braced for it, but it is mostly positive thoughts...LOL Just a little apprehensive...LOL The Dr. said, the chantix should work well for me, because I am smoking less than a half pack a day.  I just can not make the final break!!! I sorta have to laugh about the dreams...I rarely dream so this should be interesting...LOL

My DH quit smoking in September....after having two TIA's....He hasn't smoked since and says now, it easy!!  He was a heavy smoker and quit cold turkey....Pretty brave huh!!!

Any of you want to email me, please do!!  I got to email Marion...what an inspiration that lady is.

    Blessing to you ALL!!

    Mary

I do believe that Chantix is truly a wonder drug. I am six weeks smoke-free now. I rarely even think about it anymore. My husband is about a week behind me and he was a heavy smoker for over 40 years!

Neither he nor I committed to quitting one week after starting the Chantix. I took a couple of weeks, and he continued smoking for a month or so. I found that after about 5 days, the cigarettes begin tasting bad, so you just naturally start smoking less. Then I just tossed them.

You can do it, and Chantix is a big help!

I got the perscription filled today at Walmart. Yes, it is expensive, but so is smoking.  I am reading everything I can about it and will join the support on the Chantix website.  And follow their directions and support.

How  many miligrams did the Dr. perscripe for you.. I am on 5 mg.  I had tried the patch a few months ago and got so sick on it.

Good luck to all of you and Thank you!!!  I haven't set the start date yet, but it will be soon.

A couple co-workers use it.   Make sure you take it with food.   One didn't the one day and it was almost instant diarrhea.   Another co-worker just got nauseous.   Vivid dreams.

My son used it to stop smoking and was amazed at how quickly he was able to quit (had only smoked 2 years...about a pack a day) and that he hasn't had the first craving for a cigarette since about a week into using it.

He's been smoke free for 2 months and very happy.  His dad and I are even happier!   Good Luck to you.  Keep us posted.

Re: Chantix??? Anyone Tried It?? Want to Share????

I decided to start the Chantix this Wednesday.  I have some things planned for Monday and Tuesday and want to start the Chantix on a day I am home all day.

My Dr. thinks I will have good results using the Chantix, since I am smoking less than a pack a day now.   I realize it is more habit with me or when I am bored, I go outside and smoke.

Cookingimpaired, that is great that the chantix worked so well for your son.  I always said, if I ever managed to quit smoking, I would never start up again.

I am a little afraid, I think of taking the Chantix.  I got so sick when I used the patches a few months ago.

      Blesssings to ALL of you!!

Re: Chantix??? Anyone Tried It?? Want to Share????

I started taking Chantix a week before this past Christmas.  It has helped me.  If you said the patches made you sick, then make sure eat before taking Chantix and as soon as you get done eating then take the pill, and don't skimp on the water when you take it either.  Even if you have to drink on it for 5 minutes or so.  As long as I do both of those things,I'm fine, can't even tell that I took anything(as far as side effects go).  There's been a few times where I just drank like half a glass of water with the pill,it made me so sick to my stomach I had to lay down for awhile.  Or if I took it right after eating just a little.  For me,I have to eat a full meal before I can take it.    They do give you vivid dreams, but so far I haven't had a bad dream, just werid.  Like last night I dreamed we ran out of hay for my horse,so we strung paper towels all over her pasture for her to eat.  LOL

    Good luck to you!!

Thank you all for your input.  I am going to try to keep the post bumped.  I plan to start taking the Chantix on Wednesday.   I am a big water drinker, so there should be no problem there.  I bought alot of yogurt this week too and will eat one of those with my breakfast to help fill me up.

    Hi

I'm getting ready  to start the Chantix as well. I already have  vivid dreams so this should be interesting. LOL about the hay dream.
