I have heard they aren't that good. I don't have one. You can use a large coffee can (clean of course) and a smaller coffee can. Put a couple of nail holes at the bottom sides so the water will drain off.You put your ingredients in the small coffee can.Make sure you tape the lid on around the lip of the can. This is just a security measure so the contents won't leak out. Duct tape is good for this. Place it in the large coffee can and put ice around it. Roll it, shake it. You get ice cream. Lots cheaper and it works.

I am glad you found one.. we think it is alot of fun and it is super easy to make!!!.. and if nothing else "braggin rights" on a hot day.. get on the radio after we have had home made Ice cream and "mention" to the fleet what we just had!!!I have the blue one too on the boat!!  I have bought a couple for gifts for friends as well...it takes about 10-12 minutes of freezing if you get a good ice/salt mix...I have seen them on Overstock.com and smart bargains.com as well... just a fun thing and the grandkids will love it!!!!!

    Have fun!

My grown DD has one. She brought it along when she visited last. Her boyfriend and my two younsters had so much fun tossing it around outside, rolling it down the driveway, playing catch, etc. Afterwards we all enjoyed the delicious results for dessert.

They're a lot of fun, especially if you have youngsters about, although I have to admit, the coffee can version would probably work just as well.

We have the pint size.  It's our camping toy and because most of the state was on fire last summer we didn't use it.  Anyway, we used plenty of salt with our ice.  Made just plain vanilla because we ate the candybars earlier!  We used whipping cream rather than half and half.  The product along the walls froze hard, the center half was pretty soupy.  But it really was fun.  I give it a Yes for fun but not the best quality frozen ice cream productNo

I think I read that you are suppose to stir it half way, like 10 or 15 minutes, then scrape off the frozen insides of the container, and then roll it around again. for the rest of the time..to get it to freeze  better....Not just fill and roll....Need to mix inbetween....
