Need a Measuring guide for fruit - apples, especially - HELP!

I thought I had a guide around here someplace but do not have time to look through my recipe books.    I need to know how many cups are in a lb. of apples.   My recipe calls for 3 cups.

    Thanks!

My canning books say that a bushel is 48 pounds, will make 16-20 quarts (I used 18) and that figures out to 2.6666 pounds per quart. A quart is 4 cups so 3 cups figures out to just under 2 pounds. Math was never my strong suit.....better check my numbers. Also, this is a canning book and they are telling you to put these apples into a quart jar and they aren't counting the peels and cores. So 2 1/2 pounds, maybe? It's 2 3/4 cup cored and peeled.....I googled it.

Thanks - that sounds about right.   I had a really good guide, someplace - when I find it I'm going to copy it and post it on the inside of one of my kitchen cabinet doors.   I have some other "hints and tips" posted like that.

That is an EXCELLENT chart. I am printing it off and saving it where I can find it when needed. Thank you! I dislike recipes that call for a pound of potatoes or some such when I have no idea how much a pound is. I got my son a kitchen scale (at his request) last year and he loves it and says we should all use scales. He use it for measuring flour, etc in his recipes.
