Anyone Seen the Aqua Globe Infomercial on TV....and bought them??

This is a bit of a vent, and also some info....and a quesrtion about these things. I just ordered these last Friday, so it will be a few weeks until they will be shipped.....HOPEFULLY!

First I wonder have you ever seen these globes.....they are hand blown?? glass globes with long tubes that you fill with water to automatically water your houseplants.

I have such a time keeping my few plants watered, and these globes looked so pretty on TV in the informercial, I decided to order, using the automated order system.

First of all.....OH MY GOODNESS! I would never, ever order from them over the phone again!  It was the type of ordering computer where you speak everything.  So when I gave my zip, the voice kept asking me if I was in Canada.  When it seemed to get that straigtened out that NO, I was in West Virginia, USA, it asked for my physical address, and actually we get most of our orders through the PO.....but we live in another small community, which then changes my address....other than that zip code, which is the PO Box address, which again got that poor computer confused.....  sheesh!

So, then after I thought everything was ok with the address thing, my name, and cc# was taken, and the order begun.

I was given a half hour (I kid you not) of sales pitches....did I want to upgrade my order....order more, save money by ordering more, then I could upgrade to larger globes, etc. etc. etc......then it went on to try to sell me some type of merchandise saving money club cards....by that time, I was rolling my eyes, staring at my hubby.....I didn't know what to do.  If I hung up, I was afraid my order wouldn't be processed. Oh, btw...you could also buy insurance, if the globes were defective, you broke them, etc. they would replace them, lol.  Such a scam.....well I hope not so much I don't get my globes....Now I just hope they aren't teeny, tiny that the amount of water won't ever be enough to really keep the plants watered, lol....

OK,  I went on line, looked at the addy they gave to order on line....wish I had ordered on line, lol.....and got the customer service no.  I called, and though the man I spoke with was very polite, I imagine he was in Istanbul or India... I told him I wanted to find out if he could look up my order and make sure about the address.  Well, low and behold, they had me living in Daniel, Wy....with a zip code not mine, lol.  I made him repeat my name, and after we had got my address straightened out (again hopefully).....I made him repeat that also, lol......... he did take my phone no.

If I wasn't really wanting the globes...thinking it will be easier to keep my plants more evenly watered, I would have cancelled....probably should have cancelled...if it was even possible, lol.

So.....lol.....has anyone had the pleasure of ordering from Aqua Globes.....have you seen these watering globes or is there watering systems like this you can buy in stores. I'm a sucker for things like this....trying to help myself....Big Smile

Hello,  Yes I seen the informercial myself and had to order them,  I on the other hand ordered from the web-site.  It took a few weeks for me to get them, but I finally did.  I order 6 sets.  One for myself and the rest to sell.  I think they are beautiful and love it.  Trick to using it though, Getting all the air out before you place them into your plant or they wont work right.  I have been using mine for a few days.  I have a few extras if anyone wants to buy once for their mother and not have to wait for a few weeks for shipping. Contact me.

PittsburgShop.com, it is against TOH rules to use this board to sell things. I don't want you to get in trouble. Welcome to the board and hope you enjoy your time here. Where do you live?

I haven't received mine yet, but they now have been shipped.  Hopefully within a week or so, I will get them.  I hope they are well packaged, because even though I was told they would be shipped UPS or Fed x....forget which, now I learn they are coming by Post Office.  Just hope they aren't broken while in transit.  I was told if it did happen they would replace them....but I want them before next winter, lol.

6 for $14.99 at QVC or HSN. I saw them yesterday.

I bought mine a while a go.  Long before the informercial.  First of all, they will not work with little plants, like they say.  Unless of course the little plants are in huge pots!  They are so top heavy, they will tip all but a very large pot over.  You also need plenty of free space in height because they are so tall.

One of mine seems to work.  Sort of.  Sure doesn't last for up to 2 weeks.  The water drains out of that in a matter of days.  Might as well water that plant the old fashioned way!  The other one doesn't really work at all.  The tube gets clogged with dirt.

Juliebove......I agree with you 100% about everything you wrote.

LOL...I wish I had my money back now.  Hubby has the job of refilling them...and like you said, the water doesn't last 2 weeks.   I think because in most of my plants, they end up getting too much water at once.....or then again sometimes the globe doesn't water some plants enough.  When I ordered mine, in the longggg sales pitch, I was offered larger ones as well, but since I didn't know what I would be getting even in the ones adverttised, I didn't want to chance wasting more money...and I believe the larger ones to be fairly expensive.

They are pretty, but bits of dirt does get inside, and sometimes the end gets clogged up with dirt, and the water won't drain out.

YUP to what Sunmnq & Julie have to say.

Gosh I found mine 2 years ago at an Ace Hardware among their indoor plants.  I thought they were pretty, reasonably price & if they'd keep an indoor fern I had just damp they be great.

So if you stand it up vertically in the pot....they get clogged w/ dirt.
If you try to lean them they either drain completely or fall out of the pot.

Now I must admit mine aren't/weren't called an Aqua Globe, but they look very similar so I'm guessing the idea is the same.

I was disappointed too--and if anyone know the trick, I'd be interested too!

Well thanks too all you guys on this blog i now question whether or not the aqua globes,  I just ordered, will meet my expectations. LOL Does anyone have a definitive way of assuring the simple task of watering my plants will be accomplished by these darn globes?

I wouldn't just stick the end into the dirt.  I would make a hole with a pencil first  to the depth you want the globe, and then put the globe in and press the dirt around it.  MAYBE that would help and not clog up the end.
