Has anyone heard of or used a Magnawave Perfection Microwave Roaster by Chicago Cutlery Housewares?

Hi (new) friends, first time here.  Nice forum!  (But what else would you expect from Taste of Home?)  I just bought a  Magnawave Perfection Microwave Roaster by Chicago Cutlery Housewares in a consignment shop.  I "googled" it and can't find it anywhere!  Chicago Cutlery comes up all over the place for their knives but when I searched "magnawave"  I got no results.  I assumed it is not the same company.  (Probably came out the same time as the "radar-range", LOL.)  I've never heard of it, has anyone else?  It came w/instructions and a few recipes but I'd like to get more recipes.  If you haven't heard of it, its a roaster (meant for the microwave, with a raised metal plate in the bottom which allows you to brown meats) and a glass dome lid.  You can use it on the stovetop and in the oven as well.  (I plan on using it to steam veggies, especially corn on the cob, as it will hold about 8 ears...that gives you an idea about the size.)  I'm just curious to see if anyone else has one and what you cook in it.  Have a great day, Judi

I don't know if this will be of any help...years ago I bought a huge Corningware (at least I think it was Corningware!) dish thingie.  It had metal imbedded in the bottom.  The purpose was to brown things in the micro.  Back when I used it it was wonderful.  I still have it, but don't find the need to brown things anymore.  Just sort of outgrew it I guess.

You had to pre heat it in the micro.  Brown the stuff.  Then finish up microwaving it.  I suppose you could pre heat yours & do whatever you wanted to with it.  Just guessing.  Not much help.  Sorry.

Yes I have had a Magnawave roaster for years and unfortunately the instruction book has been lost. I cook chicken in mine and pork loin roasts and they are moist and flavorful-and no oven to heat up this Texas kitchen. I would love to have a copy of the instruction book!!!  Chicken is great with just a barbeque rub and when you turn it over a barbeque sauce over all. Pork loin, I cook with sage and mustard and brown sugar the same way with a little water in the bottom to keep it moist. I hope you enjoy your oven as much as I have over the years. I bought mine in the 70's!!

I was beginning to think I had inherited something from the Stone Age.  Spent hours lookin gfor Magnawave Company, adding roaster, dish, JR, etc. to no avail.  Suddenly found this topic in Taste of Home.

I do have a question which I hope you can answer. My Magnawave Perfection JR Microwave Roaster is ceramic on steel base.  The rack in the bottom is also  similar material ( think - looks like aluminium though) and on the reverse of the rack it states NOT TO BE USED IN MICRAO OVENS OVER 600 Watts.  My question, does that refer just to the rack or to the whole unit.  If it is for the microwve why would there be such a warning.  No instruction booklet/recipes included.  Would also appreciate being able to obtain either or both of the aforementioned items.

I don't "cook" in my small microwave oven, just heat things in it. BUt I bought my first one when they came out in the middle 70s. IT was ojne from Sears, and they really were called Radar Ranges. I tried it and returend it. If a dish is that old it must be that most olf kicrowave oven had less than 600  or less watts of power and if that is so, these dishes  should possibly not be used in the modern, more powerful ovens.

I would call an electronics repair shop and ask them (not that anyone reoairs microwaves, everyhting is built to throw outw hen it breaks, but you never know, you might find an older guy who knows.

Re: Has anyone heard of or used a Magnawave Perfection Microwave Roaster by Chicago Cutlery Housewares?

My husband bought one of these at the Salvation Army Store recently. I just went to use it today, put my roast in and started it up. I was sitting at my desk when I heard an explosion. The lid blew up in my microwave. It had only been in there for 12 minutes. There is glass all over my microwave and in my roast. I would not use it in the microwave if I were you. Its warm here today and I did not want to heat up the house and now my dinner is ruined.

Judi, I've found one in my husbands kitchen that he's had for years.  However, I don't have any instructions or recipes.  Could you let me know if there is a hint on the instructions of where I might be able to get a copy?  I've been looking all over the internet and have had no luck.  Even did ask.com.  No luck.  Thanks for any help.  Joan
