    Newbie...

My first day and just wanted to say hi to the rest of the group.  I am 58 years old, married and live in northern Minnesota.  I am having a difficult time getting back on the weight loss track and the harder I try, the worse it seems to get.  Any hints that might be helpful?  I know I can do this because I have in the past but the motivation just doesn't seem to be there!

Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon!

Hi dew, glad to see someone new, more the better. More people post during the week.

Hint, my main one, and I am always telling this, one thing at a time. Give up things or add something good one at a time. I gave up fried foods first added more water, then gave up sweets(some sweets, have something maybe once a week or less) and started walking. This was over a 2 or 3 week period. I know keeping it off is harder and I think since older now (61) it is slower for me. I have whined about that a lot. I started going to WW again last July and it has been so slow. In February I lost a whopping 1.4 and have worked at it, not cheated.

Hope to see you on the main post.

    Hi Dew!

Welcome to HL!  It is great to meet you! Please feel free to pop by our weekly thread. I know it is lengthy but you don't have to catch up all at once, and a new one starts tomorrow by our own Leader Jolene! So hope to see you there!  You will get so much more feedback because most of us go there even when we fail to see the new posts! :)

My tip would be pretty close to Dusta's ...I could overwhelm you with a list of what I eat and don't eat and do for exercise but the bottom line is finding something that works for you.

Through the years, I have learned what works for me. I am currently working on losing 10 pounds that krept up on me through last year.   I drink lots of water so if you are a soda drinker, gradually tapering off to less and less soda, adding more water instead of soda. If you already have the water quota downpat, then work on your food choices.  I really can't give tips unlesss I know what you are already doing?  What do you usually eat during the day for B'fast, Lunch and Supper, and snacks- keep a food journal if you don't know and you will be surprised. That may be a good start- a food journal and then work from there, adding exercise and such.

Hope this helps and is not overwhelming. I summed up my eating habits in this weeks thread if you care to look.

Just want to say thanks to both you and Muril for responding to my post.  I like your idea about doing just one thing at a time and I know this has worked for me in the past so I will give this a shot again.  Thanks for your feedback!
