dried cranberries in recipe calling for fresh/frozen

I am about to make cranberry muffins.  I have dried cranberries in the house, not frozen.  Is there a way I can use those????  Thanks.

Use a recipe that uses raisins and substitute the cranberries. The fresh/frozen cranberries might add moisture that the dried ones won't . WELCOME to the bulletin board!

All dried fruits and berries except raisins anddates should be re-hydrated when used in a recipe calling for fresh fruit/berries. Soak in water from a few hours to over night, then drain well. Some I even spread on a linin dish towel ( I keep just for that purpose )so they can air drip dry for 1/2 hr and are not too wet when used as fresh.

I wash the toqwekl with the other whites but then rinse seperately a few times to make sure there is no soap/detergent residue in it.

If you want to quickly rehydrate dried cranberries or Raisins, put them in a small bowl with a little water or juice (I like orange with dried cranberries).  Cover with plastic wrap, microwave 1 minute, then let sit for about 5 or so to soak up the liquid.  Use any leftover liquid as part of the liquid the recipe calls for.

When using dried cranberries in place of fresh or frozen, remember that the dried ones are sweetened.  That may or may not make a difference in the finished product.
