I would try putting it in a bowl of hot water for a couple of minutes.

    Good Luck!

Try coating the mold with vegetable oil before filling it, then use the hot water method for a short time.  If all else fails, heat the mold with a hair dryer. You can put the mold upside down on the serving plate and move the hair dryer over the mold and it will soon drop down to the plate.  (Of course you would probably want to be home rather than asking your host for a hair dryer.)

I, too, would use the warm water method....not too hot or you'll have a melted mold.  I usually sprinkle some cold water on the gelatin & rinse the serving plate....seems to give you some room to slide the mold where you want it on the plate.  I once saw a relative of my husband's hold the mold over a lit gas burner....that got it out!  I wouldn't recommend that.  Also, along w/either lightly oiling the mold, giving it a spray of PAM....some people do a light coating of mayonnaise in the mold first.
