    Good Morning Everyone,

I slept later than usual...Decided the birds can sing alone this AM!!! LOL I have been so tired, crash early and wide awake too early.

Hauke, if I see good prices on meat....I take advantage of it too.  I have been thinking of making hamburger patties and freezing them too.  Grocery shopping is not fun anymore...its too expensive. Ron plowed our garden yesterday and this AM we are talking about getting some onion sets today before it rains tomorrow.

Michelle, are you here this AM!! Coffee  How is the house cleaning going??

Doris, keeps us on our toes with keeping up with foods that effect our DH diet.  You wouldn't think anything would be in rhubarb, would you???   I might make one pie, but the rest of the rhubarb, if Ron can not have much, will be used for lower sugar desserts or applesauce.

Marge, how are things with you?? I hope you are feeling better.

Alice, here is the recipe I found yesterday and saved, thinking it sounded good.  I am going to try it because I think its one my kids would love.

    Mushroom Puffs by dessert girl

    4 oz cream cheese, cubed

1 can (4oz) mushroom pieces and stems

    1 Tbsp chopped onion

    1/8 tsp hot pepper sauce

    1 tube cresent roll dough

In a blender or food processor, combine cream cheese, mushrooms, onion and hot pepper sauce, cover and process until blended.

Unroll cresent dough, seperate into 4 rectangles. Press perforations to seal. Spread mushroom mixture over dough. Roll up jelly roll style, starting with a long side. Cut each roll into 5 slices, place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until puffed and golden. Yield: 20 appetizers.

Wishing you ALL a Good Wednesday!!!  It is supposed to be warmer today...in the high 70's....then rain.  Might be catch up day with Mt. Washmore too.

    Hugs,

Re: DC Conversation - Wednesday, May 7

Morning all. Whew, am I tired!! One nite off really isn't enough.

Well, I have the keys to the house. I've been cleaning the last couple days - jeeze, dosn't it seem that that's all I ever do??? Anyway, I could never leave a house looking and smelling like this one does. Word of advice, never look at a rental after working 4 nights, no sleep and a headache LOL. It really is disgusting but slowly but surely I'm getting it. I don't have to be out of my house until mid to late June so that will make the move less stressful. I sure hope Taffy will be happy there. Anyway, I figured out why the ceiling tile looked so bad - it's not age, it's nicotine - years fo nicotine and no cleaning. Well, I've currently abandoned washing walls and floors. Today it's ceiling tile. I'm thinking I won't be moving in this weekend like I thought. I've cleaned the living room carpet 3 times and it's still needing another couple rounds. Sigh...... It's ok tho. I'm planning to take some white paint leftover from my house and repaint the white trim, kitchen cabinets and the laundry area has a wall in despirate need. It's all good as pretty much anything I do will be an improvement to the house. I've some lite colored blue paint that I'll use in the "closet" room. It's maybe 5x8 on the generous side. That's the room I'm going to use for my pantry storage. As I said, anything will be an improvement after walking into that disaster. I don't clean with toxic chemicals but let me tell ya, I've loaded up plenty of Scrubbin Bubbles, lysol, ect.... I'll get it disinfected then worry about my allergies and such. Did the bathroom yesterday but I'm replacing the toilet seat for sure. I know, I know, it should have been taken care of but really, I don't mind. It's getting cleaned the way I want it cleaned so onward. I'm only planning on moving what I must have on a day to day basis only and the rest will go in storage. It's not forever and hopefully I'll get enough saved up soon to get my couple acres and a yurt.

Anyway, she gave me a month to month lease so that made me feel better about things. There really is nothing available here that allows pets so I'll just ride it out as long as I can. I'm thinking it'll be a while as the house really needs updating and a lot of work that isn't seen in the pics from the realitor. Yes, it's close to the others but you'd be suprised how many here are. Not my idea of comfort but as I said, I'll make it work. Just hoping Taffy adjusts ok.

It's raining again. Had a beautiful day yesterday with temps in the low 70's. Not no more this week. 50's to low 60's and more rain. When all is said and done I'll have to mow at both houses. (by the way, notice I didn't mention the garage - it's not worth mentioning LOL). I'm suppose to maintain the yard and keep the sidewalk and driveway clear in winter. I'm really not thinking it's going to be that big an issue. The front yard is almost nonexistant and the back yard isn't as big as my current front yard is long. Sidewalk care is short and the driveway in the back is maybe as much as my truck is long. Instead of an hour or two, it'll only take a half or less. I love being outside so won't be a problem. I'm thinking I may put my clothsline where the fire pit is now since I don't do camp ires unless camping.

Well, I'd better go. I'm sooooooo tired my eyes are crossing. Sorry not to be on cloud 9 today - just having one of those days. I'll be fine.

God bless and sending those Fuzzies!!!

Sandy – I'm glad DD got her invitations done.  Yes, it has taken awhile for the surgery to be approved, but they have certain criteria you have to meet.

Hauke – Do you know what city Heather and her group are in, in Chile?  I'm glad you got your shopping done.  Sounds like you got some really good bargains.  Marge still can't get in here.  She hasn't done anything with her computer yet.  She can still usually get into her email, but sometimes has a little trouble with it, too.  Yes, I'm pretty settled into the new work routine.  But I'm still not sleeping late.  I'm a light sleeper so outside noises wake me up.

Nancy – I'm glad things went so well at the appointment yesterday for Russell.  Thank you, God.

Mary – How soon will you start planting your garden?  I know you can't do it too early in case of a frost.  Thank you for the recipe.  We are cloudy this morning.  I did go for my walk and it sprinkled a tiny bit.  But it is 67 right now!

Doris – Strawberries and rhubarb … what a nice pairing.  Yummy.  Thank you for the good thoughts for my surgery.  Have a great time at the casino on Friday.  I'm thinking of going to a casino in a couple of weeks.  It's been a couple of years since I've gone, so I decided it was time.  But I'm not certain I'm going yet.  I'll probably decide that morning.  That's great that your MIL is so active.  Good for her.

Alice – I hope things go okay with the nurse.  I'm sure they will give you lots of information but hopefully they will give you some hand-outs so you can refer back to them.

Michele – I'm so sorry the house is in such bad shape (clean-wise).  But it sounds like you have been working so hard.  Will the landlord maybe give you a break on the rent, since you have put so much work into it.  Actually, since you will have it looking so nice (and clean), it may sell faster, so she should definitely lower your rent.  Get some rest, you poor thing.

We had a project at work last evening that we don't get often.  I think I've mentioned it before.  We have a small scanner.  Then you scan in business cards and it goes into this program we have.  I swear there is a little man in there typing the stuff up. It is amazing how little clean-up it needs after it has gone through the scanner.  So I enjoyed doing that and my evening went very fast.

I'm trying to use up food that I have on hand here.  So I pulled a turkey breast out of the freezer and have that in the oven now.  I need to run to the grocery store this morning.  I'm hoping to make it there and back before the rain comes in.  It is supposed to be heavy later today, and maybe some storms.

Morning.  Cloudy here as well but then we are in a drought so I think any rain will be good for the crops and the gardens.

Joyce, Heather was in Santiago until Sunday... then they head south.  Today they were in Valpariaso and Vina del Mar getting a tour of the valley seeing some vineyards and then this afternoon to the "white sand beaches" of Garden City.  Yesterday they were in Santa Cruz visiting a Chicha factory in the morning and an Olive Oil Factory in the afternoon.  Thursday they have the day "off"... and they are in the city close to the beaches... so any guess as to where these girls and guys will be?  LOL  I know she went swim suit shopping just before she left.

I've been watching the news of the exploding volcano in Chile... but it's about 700 miles south of them so unless the wind is blowing north, they should not be bothered by the ash.

It's catch up day at my house.  Have some guests from out of town so put off things like paying the bills etc.  Paperwork, here I come.

Michele, you are turning into a home... elbow grease applied to all surfaces!  I'm glad you're on a month to month and I hope you get to stay many months as it's so close to work and now that you're getting it spotless you want to be able to enjoy it a while.  How far it is to NSDD?  If I remember correctly, it's far enough that she won't be "dropping in".

Well, time to grab another coffee and get busy.

    Hi everyone.

It's just plain ugly here right now.  It's been gray all morning and it's raining.  Yuck!

I went for my quarterly check up today.  Not good.  My A1C is 7.5, the highest it's ever been.  I've been telling the doctor that the Metformin didn't work for me.  With Advandia I was always 5.5-5.7.  So now he's added Actos to the mess.  I'm now taking Glipizide, Metformin, and Actos for the diabetes.  I did loose another 2 lbs. so that is a plus and my BP is 120/60.  I can't complain about those 2 things.

I'm doing laundry today.  It seems like I've got piles of it again.  I don't know how 2 people can be so dirty or maybe we're just really clean.

Joyce which casino are going to visit?  I don't gamble but I'd like to go to Four Winds in New Buffalo, MI.  They say the restaurant there is great.  It would be a nice day out for us as New Buffalo is about an hour away.

I'd better get moving.  I get my nails done in a half hour.  That's my one treat to myself.

    Hi Everyone,

We planted some onions this AM after a quick trip to town and a coffee stop.  We are planting quite a few onions, since I use alot and maybe some for winter.  Ron can not have the scallions, but he can have regular onions......go figure....LOL  I cut some Rhubarb for a pie....Ron gets his blood test tomorrow or Friday....I will make a pie right after the blood work....LOL

Michelle, at True Value Hardware stores, they sell a product called STP 90, that would clean the cigerette smoke off walls and ceilings, etc.  This stuff is GREAT!! I used it to clean tiles before and it works  like a miracle.  You will be surprized at the dirt it takes of walls too.  Sorry you have so much cleaning and things to do. I hope the house works out for you and I think it will because the big plus is you are closer to work.

I have got ot get supper going....stuffed peppers and something....????  I am not all that hungry, but I gotta cook something.

      Check back later.

    Hugs,

    Hi, everyone.

Not much energy around here, today. I am still drooping from our long day. But, Russell is doing OK and the doctor and hospital nurse both called to check on him.

MARY, I only buy meat when it is the special at the food store. Most of my shopping is sale items. Nice that you got the onions in. Russell still has his plants hardening off in the hot box on the patio. A couple more weeks and he will plant the peppers and tomatoes. I agree about food prices, one little bag and 25,00 is shot.

MICHELE, busy days ahead for you. Smoke clean-up is not easy.

JOYCE, glad you had a "fun" kind of job to do. At least a little differernt than your everyday transcribing. I try to keep the freezer organized, so I know what meat we have. But, it's not easy and I always find a couple of surprises.

HAUKE, what exciting places for Heather to see. I take it she has a camera for recording her trip. I am going to look at a map and see where all those places are.

CAROL, my A1C was a little higher this time, too. And, I am so good with having no sweets or white flour. Guess it means more exercise. An hour away is not bad for an enjoyable time. Hope you get to go to that Casino.

Just remembered I agreed to helping in the bell choir for the next couple of weeks. So, dinner will be early, again.

Re: DC Conversation - Wednesday, May 7

Howdy folks!   Mary, the reason I question the rhubarb, it's full of that acidicalicilic acid stuff, that can make any meds a person takes not be absorbed.   Sort of like grapefruit shouldn't be eaten when on certain meds, or lemons, oranges, etc.   For some people this can be a minor annoyance, but for dh, he has three meds in particular that he needs to take to stay alive, so he has to be very careful, meaning that I have to watch like a hawk what he eats, even when we go out.   Sigh.......You know how that is, it can wear a person out at times.   I have a small list of things for this next appt., I hope they have plenty of time.

Michele, you poor thing with all that nasty stuff to clean.   Here in Calif. they make a person who rents pay an extra cleaning deposit before renting, and if they leave the place a mess, they lose that cleaning deposit, and it is used by the owners to have the place cleaned before the next person moves into the place.   That sounds awfully unfair that they let you move into that place before they did that.   You definately should get a break on the rent for awhile.   Are there any laws about that in Michigan??   Each state is different about these kinds of things.  Darn it!!!  You work way too hard!!!   You deserve some kind of medal girl!!

Carol, you sound like us, you go to the casino because of the cheaper eats at the restaurants they have, lol.   We don't gamble when we go down there.   We used to go overnight to Reno, and then we would spend $20 on the machines.  BIG spenders, that's us!!!  We did gamble back in the days before kids though.

Nancy, I hope you feel more "up to snuff" tomorrow.  I think the stress wears a person out, the worrying and all that.

Joyce, sounds like a night of pleasure at work for a change.  Well, maybe that's overstating that, lol.  My son took awhile to learn how to sleep during the day too.  He works 5:30pm to 5:30AM.   The worst thing was the tornado sirens going off, and a voice saying to get under cover right after he moved to Texas, he did not even know what the heck it was!!!  Thought it was an air raid actually at first.

hauke, thank goodness Chile is such a long, skinny country, and that volcano is far away from where Heather is.   Does she speak alot of Spanish??  I might have to learn some myself, my son's girlfriend speaks Spanish alot too, and I don't know anything much is that language.

dh wanted some fried chicken today, so I found breasts in the freezer that needed to be used up, so cut them up into smaller pieces and fried them, using the coating from the old Betty Crocker cookbook, circa 1957.   It was ok I guess, but not like the way my mother used to make it.   I think it's because the breasts were skinless .  There is plenty leftover for him to have another meal and snacks.

Tomorrow is helping dh with the yardwork day.   Seems like the weeds grow better than anything, so we go at those all the time.  Need to buy more potting soil, we must buy that stuff everytime we get down to the valley and see that Home Depot sign.

Have a good evening friends1!!  Blessings to all of you!!

    Doris

    Confused

Good Evening all, the end of another busy day, Mary thank you very much for the mushroom puffs, I am going to try them to night,

I made it through the diabetic appointment, but not to sure why they tell you to make an appointment with the diabetic nurse when she is not a nurse, was told to take all my stuff with me when I go, needles, insulin, a record of what I have had to eat for the past 3 days, and my sugar levels off I go and only to find out that she is a diabetic counselor and a dietition, first she asked me why I have the needles and the insulin, I was told that you were going to show me the right way to use the needles and where I should use them and how much to take and how often to use it, well I am not a nurse and I will have to get someone out of emergency to show you as thats not what I do, ok then why am I here ?  I teach you what you should eat and should not eat and how to use the pen, ok whats the pen ?  its a way how to take your insulin, but I had the other stuff to use with the needles, so I decided to wait to get a new prescription for the pen and would go back in a week, as I was not waiting till a nurse was free in the emerg and the pen I could handle over needles, she did ask for my sugar levels but was not realy interested in what I ate over the last 3 days, I go back on Tues and I have to do my sugar levels before I eat and after 2 hrs of eating and as to how much i have to use they go by your weight. so will see what happens next week, and what 1 more week of high blood sugar readings.

well of to get some stuff done and will check in later.

    Mary thanks again
