    05/08/08 CS's Chat

                  Photobucket

    • Wonderful news, Grace, that Anne came thru with flying colors.  I expected no less from her!!  Gentle hugs and prayers for her and her family.

    • NancyZ-Fantastic news on Russell too.  Guess all the baskets of prayers, hugs, and white light did good for both Russell and Anne too.

    • Now I am off to bed!! Bob and I went to Mobile this afternoon to mail off 6 boxes of chicks.  We mailed nearly 50 chicks so now we are almost out for the year.  But the incubator is still full so we will have more than enough for us too.  But now if anyone wants any we are sold out for the year.

    • We were so near Pascagola that we went on to eat at Bozo’s.  I had a shrimp poboy and Bob had a roast beef one.  Talk about good eatin’!!!!

    • Thought for the Day- I have always been delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start, with perhaps a bit of magic waiting somewhere behind the morning.-J.B. Priestly

    • Today is Victory in Europe Day (V-E Day) commemorating the end of fighting in Europe during World War II. After years of war, The Third Reich of Nazi Germany was defeated.  Millions of people were killed. Adolf Hitler, Germany's Dictator, had committed suicide in his bunker in Berlin.

    • The German Army ceased fighting on May 2and, and formally surrendered unconditionally on May 7th. The surrender of all German forces was arranged for May 8 at 11:01. The Allied countries planned to celebrate victory, and the cessation of hostilities.

    • Did you Know? The original planned date for the celebration of V-E Day, was May 9th, 1945. But, journalists caught wind of the plans. So, the U.S. and Brittain moved the date up by a day to May 8th. Russia kept to the original planned date for May 9th. Russia still celebrates V-E Day on May 9th.

    • Filling the prayers basket and hugs basket!  Don’t forget to add lots of extra prayers for Russell’s fast recovery and hugs for NancyZ!  Also for Anne and her family!  Don’t forget the extra baskets!!

    • Special hugs and prayers for Cilla, Louise and Maury, Gat and Jeanette, Mabel and Floyd, Grace, Sally, Ruth, Anne, NancyZ and Russell.

    • Remember the group prayer! “Heavenly Father, we ask that you watch over and care for all Cookin’ Seniors and those they love as they go about their day!!”

    Re: 05/08/08 CS's Chat

Mornin all CS and all those who need help in healing, gees, Nancy Z so glad Russel  surgery was ok, and which Anne are you referring to in KY? Sally oh my prayers for your healing.

Have to tell these Angels do work, I have had more angels come my way , BIG TIME! lately!!!!!!!

1st of all my update, if your at all interested.  not long after I posted, dh had an appt w/ his urgl, dr,. to get the report from his last procedure, this dr, is my choice , does not come w./ good referrals from my lady friend RE; for ladies, maybe for Men stuff, We sat & listened to his report, then when I had 2 questions to ask him, he insulted me w/ his smart attitude, and I took it twice, but when I had asked my last question, He hit the roof, and again INSULTED ME & SO I TOLD HIM SO! in no uncertain words, I said you  just insulted me 3 times, now, do you except me to know medical terms when I walk thru this door? He then apolized, to me, and why he felt he needed to do it 4 times, I said I have the right to ask about my DH's conditon, Dr. is not very kind nor had a good bedside / manner, then the jerk doc, says to us, if you'd like I be happy to give you 3 referrals,& that it would not hurt his feelings, So I said to him, it has been a previous consideration, to let him know he is not the only one who will take our $$. Then DH opens his mouth & says, to doc, oh I'll stay with you. but DH NEVER once stuck up for ME!

we left and I told dh you know in a few min,. I will get angry w/you for not defending me to the dr.

they are not GOD's, Then I let dh have it,  YOU have to understand & now I understand that dh is the the kind to stand up for HIM self so how can he stand up for me or anyone else, He is of kind & gentle spirit & soul. HE is not a fighter,

so yes, I called the real estate agent, and I made my choice & 5/5 MONDAY,I made a check out for a earnest $ on that CONDO, my choice, dh seen it afterwards  on the pc only, & he liked it said I made a good choice, and agent & I both agreed on $ offer , then I told him I think I may offfer $2,000. less, oh he said I think best you stay  with the one we first talked about, OK, so I signed papers at corporate office, close to my house, and he delivered it to the seller, then she had 24 hrs, to come w/ an ans. today I a call, she did NOT my offer, she wanted $5,000.00 more, so I said not way, just cause now she lost her condo where she was to go.. it sold. And she did have another offer I understand BUT condigent on them selling their house. good luck, this real estate is very depression now, and she lost out not me.....I wish her good luck,

so I am not playing any games, & I told the agent to send me back my Earnest Money check.

then I felt so releived. so all along, I thought about where this peices of my furniture  would go in

the condo, and just left it all to GOD ! If it was meant to be , it would !

I just saved myself tons of responsibility & work, and etc. so  , dh & will go to some sort of consceling. (sp?)at the moment.

I have not read all your p osts, been too busy, being an adult person,w/no one to rely on.! felt good.

Tippy what is going on w/ you, HIp, problems. ? Hugs, & prayers ok.

more rains to come ,but not tomarrow, lots to do her.

Oh Penny if you have space in your washing machine, can I send mine over to you?

You seem to like to do laundry. *wink.

Good Morning Everyone! Where is everyone this morning? Maybe they are having a hard time getting on here as I did.

Great news from Anne! I am so glad her surgery went well. I hope she will be on here regularly soon.
Sally, take care of yourself. Hope you are soon back good as new. Thank You Colleen for letting us hear from  your mom.

NancyZ, good news from you too regarding Russel’s surgery. Our prayers have been answered. Please don’t forget to take care of yourself.

Zora, I know you are glad the ‘chicken shippin’ is done for this year.   It sounds like you had some great sandwiches for your lunch out.
Paula, we are always here for you. You are in my prayers that happier times are ahead for you.  Hang in there.
Margaret (England), I am glad you stopped by to see us. Just read the daily chats and you will get to know a lot about all of us. Any good English recipes to share?
Merle, I see you got that cake baked, I am sure it is good. I have a brother in law who prefers ‘sad’ cake. So my Sister in law’s cake is good to him no matter what. (((( Hugs)))) to you as you wait for news from Lorraine.
I need to attack ‘Mount Washmore’ today but also need to get some things from the grocery store and drop off some books at the library. I have the dishwasher running now, (I forgot to start it last night like I intended to).  I never seem to run out of things to do.
I may bake a cake later today. I have been thinking about coconut cake for days so I will get the frozen coconut and  when I am at the store, I have most of the rest of the ingredients I think. Better look up the recipe before I go.
I am adding armloads of hugs, prayers and well wishes to the baskets this morning as I repeat the group prayer.
    Wishing Everyone A Happy Day!

    Platypus swimming

An Australian platypus swims around in search for food at Taronga zoo in Sydney, Australia, Thursday, May 8, 2008. Scientists have mapped the genetic makeup of the duck-billed platypus _one of nature's strangest-looking animals with the beak of a duck, the fur of a mammal and the venom of a snake.

More or less it is quiet.Kids are on the bus and should be arriving at their schools by now. Usual morning sounds drift on the cool breeze. Sunlight fills the room with its white brilliance. Have had my exercise for the day. Trying to save my few shrubs from a herd of goats. Neighbor likes to turn them loose to "munch" on whatever they choose. I have chased them out of the highway many times and from my yard.

Now to try, again, to see if the BB site will open so I can post.

    Good Morning!

I never made it on here yesterday as I was in a "mood" and didn't want to have it spread around, it can be very contagious!!

I spent yesterday afternoon taking pictures of a house that is for sale. A gal that is interested in buying it didn't know what the inside looked like so took the pic. and sent them to her. Did 21 of them. Now that I saw the inside I would love to have the house also but guess who told me no?

Lois, you mentioned frozen coconut-I didn't know there was such a thing. Is it just in a container and you use what you need? Will have to look for that.

I volunteered to bring treats for next Wed. coffee hour so will have to think about that for a day or two. There generally are only about 20 or so people there so don't need much.

We have another invite for cleaning out the fridge before going home tonite for dinner. My grocery bill for this month sure is getting cheaper by the week. Trouble is most of the people have gone now so I might have to start cooking again. Of course tomorrow nite is another eat out for the club so that takes care of one more day.

Margaret (E), glad you stopped in again today. Always like to hear from you.

Paula, hope you and your dh can get things settled between you.

Zora, will it be a little quieter around you place now with the big batch of chickens gone. Evidently you must live out in the country.

Red, thanks for the story of the animal but I think a platypus is kind of unusual looking.

Gotta go stoke up the washer, sheet day today.

So glad to hear of Russell and Anne's surgeries being good. Hope recovery is fast.

    Good morning Everyone –

ZORA, the only time I had a po’ boy was a few years back while visiting on Hilton Head Island.  Sis-IL & I had gone to some outlet mall…I had an oyster po’ boy, & thought it was OK, but then, had nothing to compare it with.  Thick breading on fried oysters on a very sturdy roll - ?

Such good news about ANNE.  Again, thank you GRACE!

(((SALLY))), hope the healing is quick!

(((MERLE))), thinking of you as you and your friend, Lorraine, go through this hard time.

PAULA, what a stressful time!  Good luck with the counseling.

(((LEISA))) – I had something similar a few years back…if you’re not feeling better soon, can you get yourself to a doctor?  After 2 weeks, I finally had to have someone take me to mine…there was no way I was strong enough to drive myself.

Hi, MARGARET E – it’s good to see you on your sunshiny morning!

It takes me a while to read & type, so forgive me if I missed you...it's not intentional!   Big wishes, waves, & smiles for each of you - Helen

Our only man will be here today but then goes to see his DD in Nevada for a couple of weeks…I must say, he keeps us laughing. He is just a precious, precious man and gentle soul.
I didn’t get to check in last night so went back to see we heard about Anne!! Thank you Lord for answering our prayers!! Thanks Lynne & Grace for letting us know.
Prayers going out to Sally!! Bless her heart!! And Colleen thanks for letting us know about your Mom. Thank God for no breaks.

    Good morning,

Anne is doing well, was sitting up in a chair and drinking coffee, and looking really good this morning. They will take her to a room today. Such wonderful news.

Great news on Russell, too. Is his back feeling much better, Nancy?

So glad our post-op patients are nicely recuperating. Now if everybody else would get to feeling better!

I seem to have picked up the stomach flu that’s going around so I’m going to lie down. Everybody that I know had it for just 24 hours, so I’m ever hopeful.

Wishing you all a super fantastic day!

    Grace

Hi Ruth, hope your weather improves soon. Rain is good but too much of it is depressing. And Bon Apetit - hope your lunch is as good as it sounds.

Leisa, it's snowing AND staying on the ground. Darn! Hope you're feeling better.

Good afternoon from a cool & rainy Indiana, it's only 55 out there.

Just got the housework all done & am heading in to get cleaned up, have to go to the grocery.

Spent the day with DD's yesterday, took DD #1 out to lunch with the kids then out to dinner with DD #2, she has to work on Sunday, wanted to give me my gift then we went to Cracker Barrel, Ha, didn't cook all day yesterday.  DH got rained out of the fields, almost finished, just 130 more acres to go, will be a few days before it gets done, I'll be so glad.

So glad to hear Anne is recovering nicely, she was in my thoughts all day yesterday.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

    Re: 05/08/08 CS's Chat

    Hi Y'all -

Must say first what good news about Anne.  Keep it up girl!!!!!!!!!

Paula - was very lucky during late DH's illness - only had one doc in an "ivory tower" - but, he was the doc from you know where.  I finally blew up at him & he "fired" us for being rude & non-communicative.

Margaret E - Hi - like was said, just read a few days of daily chat & you'll get to know us all.  Just keep saying hi til you can chime in a little more.

Lois - Mt. Washmore - am on my 4th load today!  Coconut cake sure sounds good - haven't had one in a while, but have to do one in 2 weeks for a birthday.  Am going to try something - DSIL left a bottle of pina colada mix (non alcholic) in the freezer.  Was thinking about using that as liquid in the cake (& maybe in the frosting).  How does that sound?

Beth - I think  Lois might have meant that she keeps coconut in the freezer.  I keep coconut, as well as all nuts in the freezer - keeps them fresh & always on hand.

I've been trying something new - making my own "condensed" soup.  Can't use any commercial ones cuz of either sodium or msg.  Have had good luck so far with tomato and mushroom.  Must say, however, if you can tolerate the ingredients, buy it off the shelf - much cheaper.

Hugs & Prayers to all I missed -  Peg

PEG, I'm glad you mentioned frozen coconut, because when LOIS talked about it, I recalled others (in a long gone TOH BB life) saying that's what they used.  That led me to believe that it's sold frozen.  While I could still see, I never found it in our markets, though.  Bah!  I keep my nuts & flax seed, etc.  in the freezer, too.

I don't know what pina colada mix tastes like, so can't comment on it.

Oh Helen - so glad I just happened to check in again.  I have just recently been experimenting w/flax seeds & do have them in the freezer.  What do you use them for?

By the way, pina colada mix is basically just coconut extracts & pineapple juice/flavorings/with a little bit of a creamy texture - that's why I thought it might "go good" with the cake.
