    Canadian Corner 09/05/08

    Good Morning CC friends

Think we will have a couple of sunny maybe cool days.

Cookie - OMG that snow you are getting is disgusting - I' d be very grumpy too-hope the darn stuff melts and you get no more.

The Tim Hortons around the corner from me sure got National Headlines in print Media and the news channels over the little tidbit. I'm sure that was getting even with the girl. She had spoken up about the managers before. Getting fired over a 15 cent tidbit is crazy. Her nightmare is over -Head office re-hired her and will pay her salary for the lost time. That would of been PR disaster for HO had they let that slip.  Now she has had several calls for a job at other establishments. She's single mom with 4 kids. She gave it to a mom for her little one that was cranky. Heck  my GF gets them for nothing for her pooch. Now I know why I boycott the joint. LOL I'm happy she went public-some of these managers have an edge that needs to be challenged.

This is slave day for me.

    Have a great day

     Good morning CCers

The forecasted moisture has disappeared for now.  The way the forecast keeps changing, will just have to wait and see.  I'd even be happy with some of Claire's white stuff.  The seeds in the powder are just waiting for rain to sprout.  There's not a lot of sense in trying to get a jump when we can't water.  Mother Nature needs to send some spring rains this direction. Please.

Phone meeting this morning and then we're off.  Five posters for supper tomorrow right?

Got to get my bag packed and hit the shower.

    Good Morning Crea and friends.

I dreamt about Cookie's snow that we woke up to snow covered ground. I was upset because of my flowers, they were all frozen. This morning they showed it on the news where the snow ploughs were out.

Crea, the story went nation wide about the timbit, that is ridiculous getting fired for that. Here they give them to the dogs in the drive - thru.

The dogs get excited when going through the drive-thru for they know what they will get.

Working 4 hours today, and off for the weekend.

What are the plans for the mothers on Sunday?

    Have a good one.

Good morning!Laura I'm not as good at organizing as you think I am! I did a recount of the group after Pat's post, using the computer calculatorand now I have to phone and add another one to outr reservation. I can't seem to count without my calculator anymore.

Tomorrow should be an exciting day. Cameron is going to help Pat's DD at her Harry Potter conference. Had a couple of nice e-mails from her, Looking forward to meeting her in person. We will have a big group for supper tommorrow night too! Get to meet some of the grandkids we read so much about here! Can't wait for that too!

Going to a "muffins with mom" thing at Cameron's school this am. I took a 1/4 day vacation for it too! Should be fun! Have a good one everybody!

Welll, darn it. I was going to post as soon as I logged on but figured I was too late to be first anyway so checked out KC first. And then looked at CC and saw that yes, I would have been first. Drat.

I've also been to our bank account, and sure enough, Uncle Sugar sent our stimulus money...should be go forth and stimulate the economy today, or should we go forth and put some gas in the car? lol  No matter what, eventually all this "extra" money will end up in the pockets of the oil companies anyway since prices on everything are up due to the higher cost of gas/diesel to get stuff to the stores. A gas station where we trade was spotlighted in yesterday's paper. The owner has been around since forever and was interviewed about his profit from gas sales. He makes one cent per gallon. ONE CENT out of $3.89.9/gallon. He said if not for the sale of things from the convenience store side of his business, he'd be out of business.

Crea, would you email Ms. Pickle and give her Marilyn's address and explain yesterday's idea to her with instructions about how to proceed when she hears from me via snail mail? lol!! Not to worry ladies, as Hercule Poirot would say "all will become clear."

Pat, it's going to rain here starting tonight right on through Sunday. I can save some for you if you like.

Jusy a quick fly-by, as I'm running to get ready for another full day of First Aid.

Woke up several times during the night thinking about Cookie and her snow and how disappointed she must be about yet another storm. So the first thing I did when I got up was come here and turn the computer on to see how she was doing. My heary goes out to her, that's for sure. One day she's all excited about gardening and the next it's snowing, and not just a little bit.

Yesterday DH heard from a trucker that there was a horrible accident near Hinton, where there was 3 feet of snow on one of the highways just off the Yellowhead. 3 feet of snow on the road!!!!!! I believe it was a fatality.

Here it' a nippy wind, and -3.5*C. Hope it doesn't come this way.

Ladies, have a great day. See ya...gotta scram.  ***JP***

Good Morning JP- OMG 3 ft of snow on the road - that was not a pleasant drive for DH. Although I have seen snow here on Mothers Day - I'm hoping there is none. LOL

    Good morning Crea, & CCers,

Pat, you can have some of our rain. We're getting too much right now. Some of my veggies are getting drowned out.  I'll loan it to you and when we hit the dry spell, you can repay me. LOL

Lucky you getting to meet with other CCers.

Crea, have they even come to your building yet? Which ones will they do first?

    Hi, YF.

How are you doing this morning? I see you & Crea will be hard at it.

We have cloudy weather again today with chance of storms again this afternoon. You girls are going to have to wait longer this year for the raid. You'd get stuck in the mud & then I'd catch you for sure. LOL

    Good Morning,

We don't have snow, but it is wet.  The farmers here want to get into their fields but can't.  It nice for a day or two and then rain.  Still no green.

    I can't eat at Tim Horton's, I'm a Celiac...but the story amazes me.

Anyone make in to the garden in the northern part of Canada yet?

     Music

    Coffee Good Morning ALL!!!

SNOW???....no no no no no...it's agressively fat cold rain

And WHERE'S MY LILACS??? I MUST HAVE LILACS FOR MOTHERS DAY!!

Aren't we having an interesting spring?

That Tim Horton's incident just made me shake my head. Whatever happened to customer service, and that funny, indefineable GOODWILL?  And what about the owner? We have a series of THs that are owned by one company, started by one man, who I can still picture, serving customers at his various locations, when there were suddenly a lot of customers. His stores are always neat and clean and his employess are always pleasant and friendly without it being forced. I don't know if they'd have given away any timbits, but his locations have that kind of feel. I've gone out of my way to go to his locations. I've also been to many who I avoid like the plague.

Wow, those gas prices make me more and more glad that I don't have to feed a car...GEEZ!

I've a concert to play tomorrow night, and have a little practising to get in...lol..One of the 2 big works is the dance suite from West Side Story. It's fun to play, but has it's wicked bits!

I'm off to get a coffeee and be back in a bit...for those I miss, have a great day!!!

    Photobucket

and this is probably only half... since this deck is on the south side of my house and pretty sheltered from what went on yesterday

but the sun is out... and they are saying we should see a high of nine (WTF@$%?????)  NINE?? after yesterday, that just might cause some flooding.   this snow is extremely wet... have a kink in my neck just thinking about shoveling it!!

well, tackle things one at a time... need a coffee first then decide what is the best way to attack today!
