I'am happy to see that Jenna Bush's wedding was kept very private !

Please no political bashing. I'am just saying that she made the right choice in have a very private wedding.  No media was invited and she said NO to a hoopla affair at the White House.  I remember when Tricia Nixon and Lucy Johnson got married.

I think this is a very special affair for the family and friends only.  I'am anxious to see pictures tho.  I wonder if Grandma Barbara wore her pearls.  She is really a kick,  have always liked her.

Happy Mothers Day to all your mom's and Grandma's.

I'm glad too.  And I'm glad she was allowed to have her wedding just the way she wanted it. Every bride should have her special day just the way she wants it.

And I bet you an apple pie that Grandma Barbara had those pearls on - I know I would have!  Wink

Happy Mother's Day to everyone - hope you all have a blessed day!

It would not have bothered me either way.  A wedding is a personal and family event, as well as being a public announcement of the formation of a new family unit.  As long as nobody is being bankrupted to fund the affair, I think whatever ceremony and/or party they want is okay.

Which is not to say that I wouldn't look at the photos and laugh at any which were amusing to me. Devil

Maybe they were afraid all those protesters would show up and ruin things. It's such a rare thing to be married in the White House, I think I would have been tempted. But if it's how she wanted it then I'm for it. I'll admit I didn't know anything about it until a couple of days ago.

    Bah!

Remember Bush's inaugural parade where the route had to be staged with loyal Bushies to minimize the booing crowds? That was almost 8 years ago... imagine the nightmare of the secret service logistics in safeguarding a wedding motorcade through the streets of DC today?

Given the state of the nation -- thanks to Daddy dearest -- a WH wedding was out of the question. There wasn't any realistic choice other than the relative 'safety' of the isolated Texas scrub land.

I agree - guess she didn't want political bashing either.  Was surprised to hear she is wedding #23 for children married while daddy was in the White House.  Seems like a lot for only 43 presidents.

MSN had a few pictures of the wedding.  Jenna made a beautiful bride.  Loved her dress.

President's daughter or not she just wanted a special, memorable day for her wedding and it seems she got a beautiful one.  The pictures on www.foxnews.com were beautiful.  Her wedding dress was gorgeous.

Oh, for gosh sakes, who says the girl wanted her wedding at the White House?  Only a total dolt would make such an ass-umption and read Anti-Bush statements into a wedding.

I saw the pictures and thought they were beautiful.  It looked like a small outdoor affair, her dress was beautiful but simple.  Looked to be beautiful weather, too, a must for an outdoor wedding.  My DD was fretful because it was raining the morning of her prom and I said it could be worse -- she wasn't planning an outdoor wedding!

In an interview I saw her mother said she was offered a White House ceremony but declined, as she wanted her wedding at "home" in Texas.  It looked like a lovely affair and I hope she and Henry have a long and happy life together.

Blessings on them both!  I looked at the pictures.  Beautiful!  Loved the cake, but did the top look out of whack?

Think she made the right choice...

I have seen more public figures, movie, TV stars,,,,that said if they had to do it over again, they would have small weddings with just family and friends....Most that had huge, big dollar weddings regretted it afterwards....Said there was so much going on that their own wedding was a blurr and didn't remember much of it....

A small personal wedding  is what they wished they had..

It is amazing how they pulled off the rehersal night...in a town 40 miles away...and managed to have a parade from the restaurant to the reception hall for the other guests...A band leading the wedding party...and not one TV camera there...
