Just checking in from tornado alley!

Good morning!  Gosh, I haven't been here in 3 days but it seems like longer.  Early Sunday morning a huge storm hit this area and we lost power around 4:00 in the morning.  There was some kind of surge or lightning because we smelled something burning after hearing a popping noise and kept checking everything to make sure nothing was on fire.  The power came back on late Sunday night and we found out our computer was gone as well as my treadmill and a small tv in the kitchen.  We did not have school yesterday and there are still people without power.  My parents' power just came on last night.  We did not get any damage from the storms, but the town next to us, Macon, had a lot of damage.  My dh's grandmother had a tree fall on her house and his dad lost all the trees in his yard and is still without power.  The trees knocked the power box thing off the top of his house so that will have to be repaired first.

My dh postponed a business trip from Sun. to yesterday, so he's in Utah until Friday.  I guess after he gets home we will go get a new computer and hopefully someone will be able to recover something from the hard drive.

Glad you checked in, Peachy, and glad y'all are safe. Things can be replaced, but people can't! I've been looking at the photos on the Telegraph's online site, and it's astounding. So much devastation! I'm glad I don't live there anymore!

Glad you are all okay Peachy. Sorry about the stuff but as BFC said, that can be replaced! There was some damage near me but not as much as around Macon.

Peachy, so sorry to hear about your storms. Glad you did not get any damage but sorry to hear about your DH's grandmother's house and all the loss of power. Just glad you and your family are safe. When you get your computer working again, I sent you a long PM (or maybe you can check it from the computer you're on).  (We are expecting bad storms tonight).     MarineMom

Glad to hear you are okay…Sunday we drove to Pitcher and it’s was devastating ~~ we had things to take to Seneca...roads were blocked so we left everything in Pitcher…so much damage! Our EMS is telling us storms are moving in tonight that could be potentially dangerous so take care ~ seems like what roars through here hits your area pretty hard. God Bless.

Peachy…I’m sorry ~ I thought you were from Missouri. After I posted I see you’re from Georgia. NO….our storms won’t be going your way ~ I hadn’t heard Georgia had such bad weather…still good to know you are all okay!

Oh Peachy!  I'm so glad you are ok!!!  I had been watching for you to check in - and hoping and praying you weren't hit by the storm.  We only had a brief power outage and some limbs down in my area.  But I have seen the pics from the Macon area -

Wow, I didn't realize that your area had been hit like that.  I had seen that southern Tennessee, northern Alabama, northern Georgia were supposed to get bad storms (luckily, we got missed), but didn't realize they had gone so far south.  I'm glad you are okay.  That must have been frightening.

Peachy, glad you and family are ok. Sounds really scary. We had some gusts of wind, but, not as bad as some others.

I am wondering if Rebecca has been here. They were suppose to get hit hard where she lives. Power outages were big in some areas too.

Thanks everybody!  If you'd like to see some pictures of the damage you can look here.  http://www.13wmaz.com/news/local_story.aspx?storyid=52253  This is not in the area where I live, but this is the town I grew up in where I go to church, work and where my parents still live.  It is about 20 miles from my house.

I'm also glad you checked in.  when I heard about the storms, I thought of all of those on this BB.

Hoping for speedy clean ups and no more devastation.

Goodness.  The thing about this board is that you find you have friends all over the country!  I'm glad you are okay and the same with your family in spite of damages.  Hopefully Miss Mother Nature will calm herself down and behave in a more lady like manner!  Hope all is well and that you get an even better computer!!!

Glad that you survived the bad storms!  This seems to be an especially horrendous year for bad storms everywhere!  Stay safe.
