 Tax Rebate Checks Might Be Late

If you're checking your bank account for your tax rebate, you may want to look at your mailbox instead.

An unexpected glitch means weeks of delays for millions of taxpayers waiting on that money. Here's why: if you chose to have your tax preparation fees taken out of your tax refund, your rebate check will not come by direct deposit.

That's because those checks have to go through a third-party bank, to let the tax preparation company take out their fee, which means the IRS can't direct deposit the check.

This explains why we got ours, even though we used turbo tax, and others that used turbo tax didn't.  When we paid the fee to file online, we paid using our check card instead of having the fee deducted from our refund.

DD's showed up in her bank account this morning.

Both my DD's got less than they were told. 900 instead of 1500. No reason given.

We received ours yesterday. We do not do direct deposit, so got it in the mail. We are both retired, file joint and received $600. Into savings it goes!!!!! DH last two digits of SS is "09". So it came exactly when we expected it. Was not sure on the amount, but better than $300.

  I thought it was cut and dried on the amt but not so.  My MIL & FIL I thought was going to get $1200.  They got $298 !  talk about pro-rated.  Guess it is based on the amt of income.  He is retired and makes a pretty high income,  but right now it is ALL going out monthly for their care of 24/7 at home.  Both have Alzsheimers.

I am still somewhat confused about this.  We used Turbo Tax, paid the Turbo Tax fee by our credit card, and paid the small amount we owed the IRS by direct debit from our checking account.  However, there is still no sign of our stimulus payment.

We got $1200  direct deposit on May 9

We were expecting to get $1200, but  received $700. Not sure how they figure that, but according to information on the IRS website we should receive an explanation of how it was figured in the mail.  I am grateful for what we got anyway.It is taking so much more just to live. I figure if prices continue to rise as they have been in the past few months I will have to take a 2nd job to buy gas to get to my regular job.

We got a letter explaining how much we were going to get, which agreed with our prognostications, and when we were going to get it (within six weeks).
