    Attn: Thursday "Night Owls"....

Hello "night owls"!  Hope all is well with you.  I decided to go to work today since there's not much that can be done at this point.  Most of my family is away for my cousin's wedding and won't be back until late tomorrow evening.  It's very strange that all this is happening and most of my family is not here.  Services will be on Monday.  Thanks to all of you for the kind words and prayers.

    Kim,

I'm so sorry to hear of your Granny's death.. You were so lucky to have her so long and to live so close to her.

I was very young, like about 3 when one Granny died and the other one lived out on the west coast and I only saw her occasionaly, like maybe every 3 or 4 years for a little while.

Wish there was something I could do for you but I guess all I can do is say a prayer and give you a cyber hug.

    Beth

Beth ~~ Thank you for your kindness!  We all know how fortunate we are to have had so many happy years with her.  She was quite a lady!

Beth ~~ I know that Bonnie made the cake mix bars for her blood drive.  Did I read somewhere that she didn't have success with them......they were heavy and dry?  That's too bad!  Mine came a little heavy too......although we loved them anyway.  What do you think we can do to make them a little lighter?  Any suggestions?

I've many quite a few of them and they seem to dry out fairly fast so I freeze half a pan for later use.  I don't know how to lighten them up, wonder if a little more water would work?  I sure like the taste of them.  I served them yesterday at our club coffee hour and one of the guys took 1 bite and ask for the recipe!!  Guess he liked them.\

Have question for you,  In Mn. where I lived before when someone died people brought in food to the house of the family.  Do they do that where you live?  When my Dad died my Mom had so much food she had to freeze a lot of it as we couldn't eat it up.  I know differant areas have differant customs.

Oh yes.....people bring food to the house when there is a death.  When my dad passed away 6 years ago we had so much food we couldn't possibly eat it all.  There was always a house full of people during that time so we had the food out so that anyone who stopped by could eat.

With most of the family away until tomorrow night, we haven't announced her passing in the paper yet so many people are not aware.  I know that the weekend will bring lots of people paying their respects.

It looks like we're the only two "night owls" here tonight, Beth!  Wonder where the rest of the flock is.

I finally made it.  My heart aches so for you, Kim.  We had a very busy day today--friends came by to update the computer for us, then we headed for the cancer center.  Stayed there till around 3:30, then went to the casino!  All was going well until DH went into the restroom and fell on the way out.  He went down like a ton of bricks--hit his head really hard!.  The security people were there so fast.  He is okay, but I'm sure that by tomorrow he's going to look like I beat the heck out of him!

Kim, this has been a terrible week for me.  First my next door neighbor died,He had been in the hospital for a month was getting a little better and then just died.  Then I got the news of your granny and the next email I read was from my sister and she told me about her brother In Law.  He has cancer and she said he wouldn't make it more than a month.  Tonite she told me that he probably wouldn't make it thru tonite.  Also her DH has an infection again in his body that is keeping him going to the doc. very often.  Do I feel kind of low--yes maam.

Hi Bonnie, are you sure Gary is all right other than bruises?

Well, at least he didn't lose consciousness and didn't break the skin.  He is upstairs resting now.  We have a Physical Therapist coming tomorrow as well as an occupational therapist, so I'm sure they will evaluate him as well.  They gave him an ice pack at the casino to put on his head.  I tried to tell him to use the walker to go in, but he wouldn't (I would have had to go back to the car to get it, but so what?  He was stubborn, though, so now he is sore and sorry that he didn't listen to me.  Confused

How long do you have to be in Vegas this time?  You must get so tired of being on the go all the time.  I know I would but then I'm several years older than you are.

Honestly, Beth, I don't really have time to think about it--just keep putting one foot in front of the other--that is what I have to get him to do--not trip over them! That is how he keeps falling--over his own feet!

    Hi Bonnie

are you still there? I almost forgot to check in tonight until Karen emailed me and I remembered I hadn't come in yet. I got a new book from the library so I've been burrying my nose in it for the last little while.

Cook with love and love to cook.
