Alice – It sounds like you are adjusting to the pen. I'm glad. That's got to be a big adjustment, but if it helps you feel so much better, its worth it. And it sounds like it is helping you. Yippee!!!

Sandy – 11 vials of blood? Good grief. I thought 8 was a lot. Yes, a date has been set. It is scheduled for Thursday, May 29. I hope you enjoy your "home" time. You don't get that very often. I bet your DGGD is thrilled with her new big girl bike. That's a major step. I'm sorry to hear about your SIL's brother. Yes, I'm sure that will be a wake up call for your SIL.

Deb – Great news that you were so busy at work. Let's hope it continues for you. I bet you were tired when you got home. I thought we were to have some sunshine Thursday, too, but I don't think it ever came out. Plus it was chilly. I'm glad I was inside all day. I always like shopping at Big Lots. There isn't one real close by, so I don't go often, but I always find some good buys.

Mary – Thank you for the good thoughts. I will look for stories on the Internet about the actress from Guiding Light. I hope you enjoyed your day out on Thursday. That always helps lift the spirits. Your poor GS. I hope they get everything straightened out for him. What a headache.

Nancy – I hope your auxiliary meeting went well Thursday morning. Thank you for the hug. It helped a lot.

Hauke – I sure hope Rebecca's root canal went well. Heather must feel so honored that her Opa asked her to make his birthday cake.

Doris – How in the world does the tech get that much blood our of your DH? The girl that did mine had trouble get the 8. As a matter of fact, the last one wasn't even full, but she couldn't get any more to come out. I'm imagining your house with the flowers and it is beautiful! Thank you for thinking of me. I haven't heard about the new surgery. That would be great.

The class at the hospital went well, but it sure was a lot of information. I'm very glad they have it all in a binder, so I can refresh my memory. I'm even more nervous now. One thing I didn't know is I will have to give myself shots for a few days, a blood thinner. YIKES! They gave us a sippie cup, a baby spoon and our "plate". The plates are two little cups, a little smaller than a cup from Robitussin. That's the only thing I can think of. Each one holds 1 ounce and that's how much I'll eat at first, just liquids. This is going to be a big change. I don't know how I will get all the protein and vitamins, but they say it can be done. *sigh*

I saw that Hauke had started Friday's thread, so I decided to go on and post.

Thank you to all of you for your good thoughts and prayers for me. I appreciate it (and all of you) so much!

Good morning all. Alice, CONGRATULATIONS on doing so well - you should be soooo very proud of yourself. I'm glad you are able to use the pen. Syringes can be a bit overwhelming. You're doing great and I'm proud of you.

Joyce, I'll write down the date of your surgery and be sure to keep you in prayer. Wow, 1oz isn't much but you can do this.

Got a LOT of stuff moved Tuesday and a load yesterday. I've everything I need to make a stand this weekend LOL. I still have to bring over the kitchen table and chairs but it can wait until Monday or Tuesday. Taffy is adjusting slowly. I left here here while I went to get another load. I don't want to confuse her by bringing her back and forth. She's been whining a lot, not staying outside long at all (she use to spend all day out and didn't want to come in). Yesterday she layed in the dark bathroom a good hour. Someone please tell me she'll adjust soon. It's breaking my heart.

Well, better go do chores. See you in the am.

    Good Morning Everyone!!!

It rained all night. I was wide awake around 3 AM, but managed to fall back to sleep. Ron had the coffee all ready for me!!  Who needs a cup or two.....three???

Good Morning MIchelle!! Sounds like you are moving along quite well with the move. Poor Taffy and adjusting to a new place!! I am sure she will be fine once you are living in you new home. You are on you 4 straight days, aren't you?? I am sure you are starting to really feel the effects of all the working, moving, etc.

Joyce, I think they are going to televise the actress's progress as she goes thought the steps of surgury and afterward.  They did say something about having a "little bit to drink". She plays Ashley on Guiding Light, but ET is also covering the story.  When are you scheduled for your surgury???

Alice, glad the pen is working for you!!!

Sandy, sorry to hear of your SIL brother's heart attack!! It is scary stuff!!   Some people just either don't want to try to eat healthier or just don't care.  Then there are the people who just love food...like us!! No matter how you look at it, eating right all the time is a challenge.

Today, I am kinda caught up with work, but want to bake these breakfast cakes.  I found my old recipe for buttermilk breakfast cakes, which Mom likes and they freeze well.  I also want to make some blueberry muffins and freeze some of those too.  It is a good day to bake because it is going to rain all day!!!

Wishing you ALL a Good Friday!!

    Hugs,

    Mary

    Joyce,

Don't 'freak' about giving yourself blood thinner shots.  I've had to do it many, many times ~~ and I felt as you do at the beginning.  The syringes are 'pre-filled', and the needle is so short ~~ it just barely goes under the skin.  I first had to do it back in 1998, when I had my first artificial joint (knee) done.  I was getting ready to be discharged from the hospital when the nurse came in and said that she had to show me how to give myself an injection.  When I said "No way", she said "I guess you're not leaving the hospital then, are you?  If you really don't think you can do it, I'm sure someone from Visiting Nurses could do it for you ~~ or do you know a nurse who could help out?  But, I have all the confidence in the world in you, and I know you will do just fine.

I remember when my friend had her gastric bypass surgery.  Her food portions were so very small, but after eating that 'little bit'. she said she was 'full'.  It will get better.

It's wonderful that the hospitals have classes for the different kinds of surgeries.  I really believe an 'informed' patient is a good patient.   I know you will do just fine ~~ just remember to keep positive thoughts and do what the doctor and nurses tell you to do.

I didn't realize your surgery was coming up so soon, but when you talked about all the blood work being done I knew it had to be close.  (((Joyce))).  You are in my prayers and I will circle the 29th on my calendar.

Joyce, I'm glad you found the class informative.  I'm not sure I could give myself shots, no matter how small the needle, but I suppose that push comes to shove, I would.  How wonderful that the surgery is scheduled and you can now plan accordingly.

Mary, sounds like you enjoyed your "down" day and are ready to go again.  Your baking sounds like some yummy food-I'm on my way over now!!LOL

hauke, what fun for Heather to make the cake for the birthday celebration.  Can't wait to hear about the "creation"!!!!

Sandy, did you enjoy your at home day yesterday?  Between working 5 days aweek, and running to Curves 4 days aweek, I so enjoy the rare day spent at home.  I hope your SIL takes his brothers heart attack as a warning and starts taking care if himself.

Michele, hugs for you and Taffy.  It is a big adjustment for her, but she will be fine.  Could just be this in-between time that is bothering her.  Our first dog understood many words, "home" being one of them.  When we were in the process of moving to this house, I would say, "lets go home" and drive by the turn into our subdivision.  That would make him sit up and watch where we were going.  When we made the turn onto our road, I would say, "we are home", so he would watch.  Didn't take long for him to catch on.  I'm not sure Gracie is as smart, nor does she recognize as many words.  *sigh*

Work was slow last night in my half of the restaurant.  Such a disappointment.  Hopefully tonight will be busy.  Mostly sunny today and it is warming up nicely.  Hope the cold temps are done with for the year.

    Time for lunch.  Later all.

Michele – Thank you for the prayers and the words of encouragement.  You are really coming along with getting thins moved.  Yes, Taffy will adjust.  Give her some extra attention when you can and I'm sure she'll forgive you.

Mary – My surgery is scheduled for May 29th.  I hope your baking all turned out okay.

Sandy – I think I will be able to do the shots.  After all, I do the poke for my BS numbers every day.  I'll just have to get used to it.  Thank you for telling me it wasn't bad for you.  That gives me hope.  Thank you for your prayers.

Deb – Yeah, I think if it means I "have" to give myself the shot, I will do it.  But I'm not looking forward to it.  Too bad you were so slow tonight, especially after such a busy night the night before.  I hope you are busy again tonight.  We are a little chilly today, too.  Right now it is still only 58.  But at least it is sunny.  I did get my walk in this morning.  I needed it since I couldn't walk yesterday.

    Hello, everyone.

Russell had an early app't. and I went with him. He will have to see the neurosurgeon once more in a month. We then went to Farm & Fleet for softener salt and I found a couple of blouses with 3/4 length sleeves. Got home for a late lunch and now it's Russell's nappy time.

JOYCE, your date is on my calendar, and I will be praying daily for you. I always pray for the group every night, but a special orison is needed, now.

MICHELE, glad you are getting things moved to town. Poor Taffy, but it does sound like she is adjusting, slowly.

MARY, bet the breakfast cakes were good. And, if they freeze well, that's good. No work done here, we were gone 'til now.

SANDY, I'm sure your positive info will help JOYCE, immensely. Always good to hear those things that someone else experienced.

DEB, it's always amazing when our pets understand our words or actions. We had a dog like that, too. If it's a slow night, can't you take turns when customers come in?

HAUKE, looks like we are all waiting to hear about the birthday cake.

Being gone all morning, my walk is coming up. It was supposed to be in the 70's, but a cloud cover is keeping the temps down.

We had a rainy, cool day here, but that is okay as I had other things to take care of.  I am hoping too for a warm up and shorts weather...LOL

Joyce, I will certainly keep you in my thoughts and prayers for the 29th.  Ron had to give himself the shots before his surgury.  I will say one thing, the novalox is expensive stuff.  Our doctor order 12 prefilled shots and we had to adjust the amount of novalox.  Anyway we didn't use all the novalox and luckily the drug store took back what he didn't use.  I was thankful he had half decent insurance to cover the price of the novalox.

Men really like the Farm and Fleet and Tractor Supply Stores, don't they?? The clothing in our Tractor Supply is rather expensive, but it is nice.   Seems strange, but we have no doctor appointments scheduled right now....LOL

Wishing you ALL a good evening!!

    Hugs,

    Mary

I'm so excited for Joyce!!!  My dh also has leftover prefilled shots here, 8 of them in fact.  No one would take them "back" though.   They are still "fresh" according to the date on them.   He used to give them to himself in the belly, says it didn't hurt.   But the nurse showed him how at the local hospital.    Did you meet some of the others, so you guys could contact each other later on, or do they let you do that??

It is a heat wave here for today and the weekend, so we are trying to lay low.   Well, I am anyway.  dh was out weed eating, but finally came in, sat in his recliner and promptly fell asleep.  I had to get the garbage can and put it up for him.   He tuckers out, but insists on going out and doing stuff.   I do help with lifting though, he still is not supposed to lift stuff, particularly carrying something outward in his arms/hands right in front of himself.

deb, I hope you get more business now that it's the weekend.   One would think so.   When we went to an IHOP last Tuesday after the doctor appt. it was sort of crowded, but it could have fit in more too, and it was 12:30pm too.   Everyone was so nice and policte and friendly to us we noticed.

I've gotta go, need to get my shower in and then get dh's meds picked out.   The lady finally talked to me today about the prescriptions that were missed on tuesday, to be sent to the mail order pharmacy place.  Always something.   Then we had a call from that same pharmacy, asking what our address was!!!!   The lady also checked to be sure I was dh's wife before she would tell me anything.    For Pete's sakes!!!!
