NE THREAD - WAYS TO SAVE MONEY

I know we are all trying to save a little here and there.  I love garage sales
and rummage sales, but with the cost of gas going up I wondered if  I should
even bother - Here is what I decided to do - I looked up 5  in one area
and did a map  search on my GPS.  I had the correct directions and hit them
one after another - found some bargains also.   If you don't have a
GPS - MapQuest works also.   Kate

This one you may think that I am crazy- I have been doing this for six months and have a little stash. Today I bought gas $3.65 a gallon - and I pass 15 gas stations on my way to work. I try to pick the lowest one - and saw it for $3.79 -a difference of 14 cents a gallon - = $1.40. I put this $1.40 in a secret spot and actually I have almost $45.00 saved. I want to see what I save in a year. Kate.

There is a bank that does this now...I should have patented it when I thought of it ten or fifteen years ago.

For many years, when I write a check, instead of deducting the exact amount of the check from my total, I round it up. If money is tight that week, I only round it up to the next dollar. But if I have a little extra cash flow, I round it up five or ten dollars and deduct that. At the end of the year, I have wound up with an extra 500 to 600 dollars, which I use for Christmas shopping. And I never missed the money.

I bought clothes on e-bay for the first time. I have been purchasing on e-bay for a number of years, but had never purchased clothes before.

I won 3 seperate auctions for a total of 8 "new" summer dresses!.My cost, including shipping, was $50! I haven't bought a summer dress in quite a while. I am very petite and have trouble finding dresses I like that fit me.

I received all of the dresses this week and couldn't believe that every dress fits me. One is not really my style, so I won't keep it. That leaves 7 dresses for around $7 each! They are all in excellent shape and quality names like Ann Taylor and Liz Claiborne.

I am thrilled at the money I saved and happy to have some lovely new (to me!) dresses to wear.
